Oklahoma Rep's 'proclamation' blames gays, porn, abortion for economic woes
rawstory.com
The document (PDF) blames “abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse and many
other forms of debauchery” for the country’s economic woes.
To rectify the problem, it suggests the following solution: “BE IT RESOLVED that we, the undersigned, humbly call upon Holy God, our Creator,
Sustainer, and Redeemer, to have mercy on this nation, to stay His hand of judgment, and grant a national awakening of righteousness and Christian
renewal (visit the link for the full news article)

When I first saw this I was thinking, how could any one take this seriously. Then I continued to read, and people are taking it seriously. It is put
in a PDF document, and is of coarse getting the attention of a lot of gay groups. To me this seems to be something of a death wish for a politician.
If that idea is wrong please do say why. I am kind of thinking the reign of ultra conservative is over.

Of course, because when I think of possible origins for an economic downturn, I also tend to blame people who spend lots of money on clothes (keep up
with fashion), something 80% of the male population in the country spends money on, and a surgery that isn't covered by medical insurance thus extra
money must be paid by the party receiving the surgery. Yep, that sounds about right. I can even hear the lack of money being pumped into the economy
by these three things.
Blaming people who strained their own wealth just to try and squeeze another penny into their profit margin, failed regulations that let said
straining happen, and outrageous spending increases at every level of government would be silly and unfounded. How can the government or all these
"failed" businesses be at fault when its not their money that they're throwing away? If anything its the fault of everyone that gave these
businesses all their money to spend. Shame on all of you for causing this economic downturn.
On a serious note, I doubt this thing will take off. Most (hopefully atleast some) people require a thing called "logic" when expressing thoughts.

I did not read it yet , but I can already tell you why it is wrong.
Segregating people is merely a strategy to keep people under control.
Everything starts with the money , and the bubble the international banks have been inflating all around the world. It is failing now , maybe for good
this time.
We have only seen crisis after crisis since the arrival of the Federal Reserve Bank and its absurd credit system.
I think it has failed for enough time. Time for a change , simple.

How do people like Sally Kern get elected?
I truly feel sorry for anyone with a brain who's stuck in Oklahoma. They are obviously the minority in that state.

This is way cool. It's about time that we see a politician stand up for moral values and acknowledge God. Perhaps this is a giant leap in the right
direction. Although I can already hear the Christian bashing coming. Perhaps when we as a nation finally admit that homosexuality, abortion, removal
of prayer are all contributing to the decay of our society then we will be able to reshape our nation to what it once was.

Morals don't run an economy, money does. While an issue of greed is to blame over all, this is targeting things that have nothing to do with money.
Where was your religious representative when congress passed their bailouts condoning the greed that made the various businesses bankrupt? I bet they
voted for it . I also bet they've voted on more than one occasion to raise their own pay.

Oh I agree with you fully. We are all being bent over and ramrodded by our elected officials. I just thought it was cool that God was actually
mentioned for a change. I do realize though that they are just pointing fingers and redirecting though.

To me... Morals have nothing to do with sex, marriage, or children out of wedlock.
It does have to do with child abuse and any other poor behavior towards another.
This rep is lunatic.

The true irony in all of this is that in the same sentence he invokes "god's" name and "bears false witness" against people that have nothing to
do with the current economic crisis. I heard its written down somewhere that He doesn't like that.
If everyone had a relative sense of morality, of course things would be better as their greed wouldn't have started this. Deflecting does no good
though and I am glad you see that.

I guess the good Congress Person feels since we are printing and giving away so much monetary currency and taxing the citizens...that you might as
well ask for spiritual currency on top of it!
There is some more bad news in store brewing on the horizon in that there is yet another bubble that will soon burst and that's the bubble in the
commercial real estate market.
As business after business folds in this economy there is a swiftly rising tide of toxic commercial mortgages that are mounting quietly into the
trillion dollar range now and will keep going up.
Most of us can laugh at statements like this by the Congress Person that made them, but keep in mind that there is a religious right and left in the
country that has long wanted to see strict Christian morality mandated into actual law...
These people do actually believe the nation and the whole world has sinned and is being punished by G-d with biblical proportions.
The very scary thing is here if one stops to think that within the last year Iceland has overthrown its government, Iranians are rioting over election
results, and the Hondurans have kicked out their President...
Is that these religiously inclined Americans and sadly there are a large number of them aren't going to rebel against our corrupt Government but
accept their punishment by G-d!
That is really what is at play and is at the crux of the New World Order's plan is getting large segments of the populations to go along with harsh
and momentous changes by convincing them it is G-d's divine will and their fellow humans and not the government, not the corporations and not the
elite who all are ahem suffering that righteous wrath along with everyone else.
We laugh at these people for being fools and crackpots but the reality is they are in many ways our worst enemy because they are not going to rebel or
stand up or fight back, they are going to lie down and take what's ever dished out at them as long as it's dished out in the name of their Lord.

I think Christianity is leading to the decay of society. It should be abolished, imo, as it's just too evil and deceitful.
I've never heard anything good come out of these so called Christian leaders who condemn people who act, think, and pursue different interests (like
studying science) than they themselves do.
The Republican's religious fundamentalist flock of know-nothings is going to bring this country into a new Dark Age.

I'm am totally gobsmacked at this congressmans level of stupidity at blaming certain groups for causing the collapse of the economy.
I am certain this person wanted to add the likes of ( IMO I AM NOT casting aspersions to any of the groups who follow) ( I love all except those who
don't love each other and who covet money over humanity)
Muslims ( for starting all the wars that America ( oh and the rest of the world is fighting ) and taking all the cash to fund their removal from Gods
Christian world.)
The Blacks ( for having the gangsta culture , rap music and looting all the money to fund their drug habits.
The women ( for opening their legs to bear children of the unredeemable in Gods eyes) and claiming benefits to pay to send these demon spawn to
school.
The unintelligent ( for squandering Gods love on video games, booze ,fags and porn mags) The truly intelligent deserve gods love remember).
And I'm sure there were a few more he wanted to add but I really can't add my voice to this as I feel that the world is up sh1t creek simply from
the corrupt and totaly BRAINDEAD CLUELESS POLITICIANS Who are told what to do by the people who paid them bungs ( such as Pharma corporations and gas
companies)who think they know what they are doing and that they run the world and its their God given right to claim expenses. If it were up to me
I'd kick this congressman and all politician's asses and send them to school to learn about the real world.
Religeonand politics dont make good bed fellows IMO

I am not against blaming certain groups, so long as they are the right groups. For example if the congressman was blaming bankers or money lenders, I
would probably be agreeing, but that is not what happened.

Oh right, so what is the answer? Burn all Homosexuals in the streets, Hang them? Same goes for those who have so called made God angry. Wait does
this not remind us all what happened years ago, with the killing of Blacks? (Sacarsm)
Think America is going backwards instead of forwards.
