I've been studying plane crashes. I remember this one and there might be one other. Single survivor - young child. But it's just not enough data to do anything with. You could look into the whole topic of people who have survived experiences that should have killed them. That would give you all the Near Death Experience cases that you could look at. I'm sure that an inner will to stay alive is a factor. But with so few documented cases, it's hard to come to any definite conclusions.
Life is capable of amazing resiliency. That's about all you can say.
