NZ scientist, Ian Fox, says he believes that Atlantis was situated near Greenland.

He says he has tried to disprove this theory, but cannot.

Apparently the geography of Greenland equals the geographjy of Atlantis.

This is against what a lot of other scientists say.

I think you mean "Atlantis", but yeah, who really cares.

I bet this'll be the last time we'll hear of his theories.

Yeah, I am too dumb, TV1 NZ.

Sorry for being too dumb.

Hey you're not dumb. Don't call yourself such things. If you were dumb you wouldn't be on this site in the first place.

Why is that? The man is a genius I think.

He will be up there.

He won't be heard of again because even though he believes this he'll never be able to follow up on it. Getting to Greenland in the first place would cost him a lot being a New Zealander. Plus, the media only cares about "important" things like Obama and the recession.

Plus, what he's saying isn't incredibly groundbreaking stuff either. Half of the users here probably have a lot more to say about the matter than him.

Any chance of providing us with a link so that we can actually see or read what he has to say?

Googled Ian Fox and found some background on him.

I cant find any mention of Atlantis in Greenland (yet), he seems to be more into other stuff. Do you have a link about his theories on Atlantis?

Thanks, read that, seems he's more into educational issues.

I tried to link his name and Atlantis and / or Greenland with no success.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see if the OP provides a link.

An interesting theory, but would like to more as to why he believes this. I would love to read the source material as well.

"It is a mystery which just won't die, the lost city of Atlantis. Did it exist? And if so where?

These are the questions which get under the skin of Ian Fox. With a decade of research behind him, the Cantabrian, who's studying for a degree in geology and astronomy, believes he's found where the empire once stood.

It is not where everyone else has been looking.

Jendy Harper with the latest theory on the lost city."

tvnz.co.nz...

This is all I could turn up in a search, unfortunately I am at work so can not watch the accompanying video.

Thanks for the link.

Well, I must say there is very little opinion to support his theory but still, I dare say it can't be dismissed outright.

Could make sense, nuclear winter or something...
besides who knows what it looked like thousands of years ago, Star Wars proved that advance technology existed a long time ago

How?

I certainly don't dismiss the possibility of ancient advanced technologies etc, but......?

Star Wars?

I do hope that was a bit 'tongue in cheek'.

Interesting, Paul Henry (the host) says Ian Fox is studying (i.e. not completed) and if this is so, he certainly isn't one of the geology students at Canterbury (unless he is a first year, and then it's a bit disingenuous to say he's a geologist).

I have worked in the Department for the passed year and a half and was a student there from 1998-2003, which doesn't leave much of the decade for him.

I shall enquire as to whether he studied there or not.

Who knows, he may be onto something.....or not.
