Yemenia Air plane carrying 150 people crashes

AN airliner with 150 people on board belonging to Yemeni state carrier Yemenia Air has crashed in the Indian Ocean archipelago of Comoros, a senior government official said.

"We don't know if there are any survivors among the 150 people on the plane," Comoros vice-president Idi Nadhoim said from the airport at the main island's capital Moroni.

Nadhoim said the accident happened in the early hours today, but could not give any more details.

Very few details at this stage. We will have to wait until it breaks a little more to see what type of plane it was.

I'm slow right now on dial-up so does anyone know what type of planes this carrier uses?

They have no rescue capability so it might take a while to figure out what went wrong.

Anyway, another sad loss for a lot of families.
