The 4th of July. Man. How do I put this. I'm just going to say it.
A tiny group of people sailed across the ocean in vessels which had no power aside from sails. All they wanted was freedom. They believed in their dream. They were willing to die for it. Man. Think about that for a moment. A group of men who called my hometown (Philadelphia) home took on the mightiest army on the planet known as the British Empire.
They might have been farmers, blacksmiths, silver smiths but man, they saw what they wanted and then fought for it. They had more stones than every one of us here on ATS put together. They told the King of England to kiss off.
Ever read the Declaration of Independence?

Declaration Of Independence

Will I have a BBQ? DARN right! And will I remember why we have the holiday? DARN RIGHT! America was founded on just more than a fable or two. These men and women did it. They knew what they wanted and DID IT! In my book that is pretty darn cool.

America the Beautiful. Yes you are. I love almost everything about you.

Happy Birthday America.

Barbecue sounds awesome. Texas barbecue at that. Plus, I get an extra little kick on the 4th as it's my Birthday as well.

In honor of Independence day....HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

My great-great grandfather sailed from England to the Georgia coast in 1734.

His family left Germany in the early 1600's to escape death by government.

He worked in England as a physician until the opportunity to flee to America came.

I believe we still have good men and women that will step up soon before it's too late and take back our great nation.

I hope your 4th of July will be happy.

As for me I am attending a Tea Party on the beach the 4th. I will carry my flag and be very proud to be an American.

I joined a protest against the new tax bill last week in front of the federal court house in my city.

It is time for us all to get involved and let our voices be heard.

God bless America.

Great Thread Lombo and thank you for your sentiment..

I will be working, almost all weekend..

Because of what I do, I consider it an honor to work this day...

It is my way of celebrating this great Nation and all it was originally founded on..

Like Semper I also will be working this 4th. Unlike Semper it won't be doing anything heroic.

Ill be checking people into a hotel.

So eat a dog or burger for Semper, celebrate the Independence of our great nation and I hope you all have a great one and enjoy the freedom that brave men and women fought and died to give each and every one of us.

I grew up with the 4th being the highlight of the year and have passed that exciting tradition down to my children.

We celebrate and enjoy great entertaining quality family time.

This year we will celebrate both on the 4th and the 9th with a huge fish fry (all spring fed fresh water catch) burgers and dogs, games, fireworks, bonfires and loads of family and friends.

I too get very sentimental about what the 4th represents and always remind everyone on the 4th.
