If you want an ultimate enemy pick ENTROPY: The second law of thermodynamics. So-called "heat death." The laws of Entropy teach us that systems tend to wear down and become chaotic unles they are fed by a constant flow of new energy. But this energy must be taken from somewhere else, which usually represents the ruptutring of another system. In a concrete example, a "system" called a human being staves off entropy (breakdown in the form of starvation) by killing and eating another "system" called an animal, thus appropriating its energy in the form of food. This is something we all do every day. (And yes, vegitarians...plants are "beings" as well as animals and you kill and steal their energy, so man up and admit you ain't no better than the rest of us).

Put bluntly, life is not a free ride due to entropy, which unfortunately seems to exist at every level, from the intergalactic to the subatomic. Money is only a manifestation of a way to try to distribute and smooth over the constant struggle for survival (battle against entropy) that characterizes all life. It is not the ultimate culprate...rather, its merely a reflection of the deeper, and eternal, needs of beings to steal energy from other beings for raw survival. And of course beyond simple eating there are other forms of human battles against entropy such as medicine and even aesthetics, putting a roof over your head, personal hygine, and the pursuit of comfort. Want to blame somebody? Blame The Seond Law of Themodynamics and the entropic tendency that seemingly pervades this cosmos.
