Looking through the eyes of a child
at a night sky full of stars
thinking then they were angels eyes
watching me from afar
The puffy white clouds were cotton
there were angels playing in them
everything was magical
the light was never dim
The rain was the angels crying
because of course they were sad
and as a child I wondered
if it was because I was bad
The thunder roared and I'd yell strike
God likes to bowl you know
I had it pictured in my mind
pins falling once the ball was rolled
Lightening bugs were fairies
playing in the fields
Id catch them and put them into jars
careful that none were killed
A corn field became a forest
full of magical beasts
the wagon in the barn was were
we gathered for the imaginary feast
The dog was my trusted steed
on which my knight would ride
a stick found upon the ground
was the sword worn on my side
Momma would call me in
to the castle I did run
the bathtub then became a swamp
the bar of soap my gun
Off to bed now it is late
and tomorrow is a new day
if only I remembered now
the magic to be found in play...
