Iran says Neda's death may be tied to 'terrorist' group

www.cnn.com

Iran said the gunman who killed Neda Agha-Soltan may have mistaken her for the sister of an Iranian "terrorist," the Islamic Republic News Agency reported Wednesday.

Iran blamed the death of the woman known to the world simply as Neda squarely on "those groups who want to create division in the nation," saying they planned the woman's killing "to accuse the Islamic republic of ruthlessly dealing with the opposition," according to IRNA, Iran's state-run news agency.

The young woman who last weekend emerged as a powerful symbol of opposition to the Iranian government embraced life in many ways, but there was little about her that would have led her friends to predict she would become a martyr.

Neda's family has not been allowed to post a black banner of mourning outside the family's house

Yet Neda's influence may not diminish soon. Under Muslim tradition, the seventh and 40th days after someone dies are devoted to mourning and reflection

I don't know what people would expect a martyr-in-waiting to have as a lifestyle. ANYONE can be a martyr .... not just those who are loud about their views. There are millions of Christian martyrs around the world who are being persecuted, tortured and murdered for their faith. Most of them are being killed for simply and quietly praying in their own homes to their God in a way they wish.

Christians are being persecuted? Where?

Can you give some examples or links from the media?

Every revolution needs icons and symbols -- an image that embodies a sense of universality of blight and at the same time innocence," said Roya Hakakian of Connecticut, a writer, poet and journalist who was born and raised in Iran. "The image of Neda does both."

The woman who by all counts was an innocent bystander is now known as the "Angel of Iran" and is inspiring poetry.

They really are pushing for any excuse , now that she 'may have been mistaken for the SISTER of known terrorist?

Since when is it acceptable to target family members of 'terrorists'?
Surely if there is a terrorist target you make sure A: you have the right person in your sights or B: that the family member is also colluding with the 'terrorist'.

If not either then surely it would be just a spiteful attempt at hurting the 'terrorist' through murdering an innocent family member.

I'll be placing bets on soon that the aliens MAY have told the gunman to target this girl. or that it was a lone mad gunman convinced of a conspiracy in higher governments , oh hang on we've had that one already.

They say the US has done this revolution in Iran. US is then behind the kiiling of Neda? And making her a martyr and icon that will get through to the main stream media?

The Iranian regime will destroy themselves with their idiotic lies and attempts at dissembling the truth. If they could see how stupid they look and sound in the eyes of educated people I think some of the ayatollah's on the supreme council would die of embarrassment and shame. Guess thats why the regimes support comes from the poor and religious conservatives, no one else will believe this garbage.

^What he said.

Guess what Iran, its too late to start making excuses for someone that was killed under your watch. Your people did it, dont start going around blaming AlQueda or whoever it is you wanna blame it on. You did it, Man Up and take responsibility. I can see more and more everyday what these people are going through right now, and I would be just as pissed off as them. They get treated like crap and are forced to just comply or get two to the dome. She is already a symbol, a symbol that cannot be stolen by blaming her unfortunate death on someone else.
