NKorea criticizes US missile defense for Hawaii

The paper also accused the U.S. of deploying nuclear-powered aircraft and atomic-armed submarines in waters near the Korean peninsula, saying the moves prove "the U.S. pre-emptive nuclear war" on the North is imminent.

The commentary, carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, said the North will bolster its nuclear arsenal in self-defense.

Wow North Korea knows about our top secret "Nuclear Powered Aircraft"

Why so shocked? They probably read my website

You mean THIS one?

Review of Manned Aircraft Nuclear Propulsion Program,
US General Accounting Office, February 28, 1963 (13.5 MB PDF file)

Herewith is our report-on the review of the Manned Aircraft
Nuclear Propulsion Program of the Atomic Energy Commission
and the Department of Defense, The Aircraft Nuclear
Propulsion Program was a joint project of the Atomic Energy
Commission and the Air Force to develop a nuclear-powered
airplane for military purposes; the Navy was a minor participant
in the program.
Work relating to the nuclear propulsion of aircraft
was initiated in 1946 and continued until the entire program
was terminated in 1961..total cost of the program was about $1 billion.

FOIA Document

And so do the Russians

"a nuclear-powered bomber is being flight tested in the Soviet Union. Completed about six months ago, this aircraft has been flying in the Moscow area for at least two months. It has been observed both in flight and on the ground by a wide variety of foreign observers from Communist and non-Communist countries." The article further claimed that the aircraft was "not a flying test bed in the sense that earlier US Air Force and Navy programs had called for installing a nuclear powerplant in a conventional airframe such as the B-36...solely for test purposes. The Soviet aircraft is a prototype of a design to perform a military mission as a continuous airborne alert warning system and missile launching platform..."

Representative Melvin Price of Illinois, Chairman of the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy, declared in 1959 that the Russians were from three to five years ahead of the US in the field of atomic aircraft engines and that they would move even further ahead unless the US pressed forward with its own program.(3) The description given to the Soviet aircraft's mission was surprisingly similar to a proposed US system that was being explored by several defense contractors.

As described by then-deputy chief of staff for development for nuclear weapons Maj. Gen. Donald Keirn....

Sorry no online copy that I found yet

I heard that was a hoax.

Russian Nuclear Bomber hoax

The 1 December 1958 issue of Aviation Week included an article, Soviets Flight Testing Nuclear Bomber, that claimed that the Soviets had made great progress in their own nuclear aircraft program.[1] This was accompanied by an editorial on the topic as well. The magazine claimed that the aircraft was real beyond a doubt, stating that "A nuclear-powered bomber is being flight tested in the Soviet Union. Completed about six months ago, this aircraft has been flying in the Moscow area for at least two months. It has been observed both in flight and on the ground by a wide variety of foreign observers from Communist and non-Communist countries." Unlike the US designs of the same era, which were purely experimental, the article noted that "The Soviet aircraft is a prototype of a design to perform a military mission as a continuous airborne alert warning system and missile launching platform."

thanks for breaking that down...i am just entirely to lazy to go out and find the exact numbers...

star and a very good indication of the overwhelming ballistic capability of the U.S. military.

kinda makes it a clear cut case. People just dont understand the affects of air and naval superiority which is obviously very lopsided in this case.

certainly, we don't all always have to agree
...getting different points of view is always helpful though.

Its all about perspective and relativity in my opinion.

News out of NK has been quiet the last couple of days. Not much rhetoric....whats the latest? The 4th of July is coming soon and there is not even any evidence that NK is preparing for their promised missile launch.

Personally i think they are realizing their blabber isnt getting them too far and now they may be shutting up a bit.

Do you think NK is stupid enough to think it can take on the U.S.? come on.
This has been designed for idiots like you in order to help further a government agenda. (probably to provoke a war).

why? cos war makes money. the longer the war the more money that is made.

oh, and also becuae the U.S. is scared of the spread of communism.

Oh, my. Scary. North Korea wants to wipe us out.

With a handful of nukes that might have a tiny chance of getting somewhere vaguely close to maybe possibly reaching someplace kinda sorta near us if the wind's right when they launch.

Whereas we could transform the entire country to ash and glass inside an hour if it seems a good idea.

Sounds like Kim Yong Ill wants to show someone he's got a ball or two. Anyone convinced?

North Korea Threatens to wipe USA of the map

news.yahoo.com

SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea threatened Wednesday to wipe the United States off the map as Washington and its allies watched for signs the regime will launch a series of missiles in the coming days.

Off China's coast, a U.S. destroyer was tailing a North Korean ship suspected of transporting illicit weapons to Myanmar in what could be the first test of U.N. sanctions passed to punish the nation for an underground nuclear test last month.

(visit the link for the full news article)
Considering what Obama and Congress have been doing lately, North Korea could harm the USA more, by not attacking us.

The poster is talking about the fictional starship Prometheus
from the television series Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis.

See weblink:

As far as I know from some rather unique sources within
some rather high tech firms, we have NO Prometheus-like craft
although we SEEM to have both a single-stage and a two-stage
to orbit space plane (similar to Hypersoar/X33) that can go as
fast as 25,000 kmh.

See Hypersoar Weblink:
www.llnl.gov...

See X33/Venturestar weblink:
www.aerospaceguide.net...

I also understand that there is some heated speculation on a
USAF Spacestation about the size of one or two of those Yellow School Buses
in high orbit (greater than 2000 KM high) which is supposedly used mostly
for R&D into growing Silicon or Gallium Arsenide on Diamond substrates for
microchip manufacturing of high-performance CPU's and DSP chips and
is also being used as a high-orbit surveillance/digital photography platform.

See weblink on multiple US designs for small and large military
oriented space stations:

www.astronautix.com...

The AMSS (Austere Modular Space Station) design is PROBABLY the one
that was most likely given the go ahead by Ronald Reagan in the
mid 1980's to be deployed from secretive Space Shuttle missions
BEFORE the Challenger explosion. I suspect the USAF spacestation was
launched in 1984 or 1985 on a mission publicly detailed to be deploying
an NSA/NRO (National Security Agency - National Recon Office)
satellite as a cover story. It's probably still going strong, being held together
with duct tape and silicon caulking silently doing its job as bits
and pieces have been added on over the years going quite outside
of its original design specifications.

No concrete evidence, just rumour and speculation from Aviation Leak,
upper-level Nellis Techies and possible Dreamland personnel who
have sent some speculative data on the spaceplanes and USAF spacestation.

So sorry it is UNLIKELY that we have a secret Battlestar Galactica
or Stargate Prometheus or even a USS Enterprise in orbit or in
general outer space at this time.

And to those of you who want to point out the large US-based large black
flying triangles possibly named Locust or Astra that are possibly
FTL (faster than light) capable, I haven't seen it/them yet,
so I can't comment on them at all!

Wow whos the idiot it isnt America making these statements to the North Korean press unless of course they all ready took over the North Korean government some how. And by the way North Korea isnt communist either they are a true dictatorship. So my suggestion next time before accusing people of being stupid why dont you learn about the topic first so at least you can try to make a valid point!

I forgot to point out that all the new space planes, spacestation, etc.
COULD be used to defend against North Korean aggression
which in many cases means using them as OFFENSIVE weapons
deployment platforms....I hope it doesn`t have to come to that!
