Why dont the balls move when I print them on a color printer? Is the illusion caused by a monitors refresh rate?

Ok so I only read the 1st page so if anyone said what I'm gunna say than my bad. Since when u take the orange color againt the teal color. The color mix and create the illusion of 2 diff colors. I'm not sure how to excatly explin it but I just see it if anyone knows what I'm sayin. They mix without mixing I guess. (I no I'm crazy but that's how I see it)

I still can't get it to turn. I can look away and visualize it turn the other direction, but when I look back at the picture, it doesn't switch...

What a cool and informative thread E! I was thinking that by exploring these illusions and understanding them maybe it will help us understand the visual aspects of hyperdimensions.

She is not spinning at all, she is standing on one leg moving left to right and back again. If you direct your eyes to the very top of the picture you will see. It took me a while,lol.

I have found that is you fpcus on the top right corner of the image she will apear to turn one way, and likewise if you focus your view toward the bottom left corner she appears to spin in the opposite direction.

Edit to add I do see the face lol, but if I or any of you dont it does not make us less, or differant but as this shows means they in a sense in certain times are more sane than most.

Yes!

Also when given insufficient information (like size and distance). It's easy to mistake a small, close object for a large distant object.

hmm... instead of using the eyedopper or painting the other colors black, I just removed those colors, and sorry to say, it is still clearly blue and green.

Ugh...that one drove me insane the first time I saw it. I always see it going clockwise, and can not see it going in the other direction no matter what I do.

look to the top left\right corner of your monitor then back to the image
it will then change direction
its the only way i can get it to change direction

The first time I watched it, only the nose seemed 3D. Now, when the guy explained what I am supposed to see I can't help seeing it as 3D! Argh.

It seems like everything you focus on moves towards you... pity it only last a few seconds

I believe I have the easiest method of switching the spinning girl. Just look at her shadow below. Whichever way you want her to spin, see it in the shadow first. Easy, back and forth at will.

This one is by far the most amusing. I only got it to flip once, while my wife kept seeing it counter-clockwise, i was seeing it clockwise.

I remember hearing about this. If you see the girl turning clock-wise, the right side of your brain is in predominant use, and if anti-clockwise, your exercising your left side. And of course, the right side of the brain is more associated with intuition, the visual/ spatial, with the realm of creativity, where as the left functions when performing logical, analytical thinking.
In my case, the girl is turning clockwise, without me thinking otherwise. However, I remember being able to change her direction with a change in train of thought.
