I just happened to be reading a thread when I came across a poster whose avatar had the green & white "one of your friends" bar at the top.

Never heard of him/her!

Confused? You will be.

So I check my list. Not there.

Then I check the other dude's list.

It turns out I'm on the list entitled "These members have picked me as one of their friends"!

OK, it's not the end of the world, but I just thought it was worth flagging.

I guess it's either

1) A software issue

or

2) A member who's changed their name (-is that possible?)

What's up, doc?

I asked the same thing before:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

What happens is, when there is a member with the same 'root letters' in their user name, it can cross over. For instance, if you add 'Robert413' as a friend, the member 'Robert' might have you on their friends list as well.

Or something like 'Robert413' will cross you over to a member named 'Bert.'

Etc. It's just a glitch.

I once heard...

"you can never have too many friends."

So ATS code is itself a disinfo agent?

When you can't trust your friends just who can you trust?

No need to reveal you insecurites. Standing on the sidewalk like that hoping someone will take your hand.

Its been happening to me as well.
It was a supermod who was showing as a friend.
I asked what was up and they said its just a giltch.
After all it is a conspiracy site was the reply.

I am sure its nothing to worry about.

I had a problem once where, on my "My ATS" page, it said that the last person to post in a certain thread was, "IHate[insert defamatory N word for black people]". When I went to the thread to see if it was true because I was astounded that there was allowed to be a person with that screen name, there was no one in that thread who even posted with that name.

I asked a mod about it. Never received an answer.

1). It most definitely was not allowed.
2). When you see a name like that in the recent post list but not in the thread, it is because they have been placed on Global Ignore to prevent others from coming across their posts/user name and have been banned. Which brings up back to number 1.

Ah, that makes perfect sense then. Now I know, thanks.

Funny that this was brought up. The other day, just for kicks, I searched for "God" in the member list, curious if they'd let someone have that name. Sure enough, he was there, and I was even one of his friends! As I examined the list further, it seems that those that are God's friends, are those that tend to be more theistic on the boards. Then, naturally, God's foes are those that tend to not believe in him. Really kinda funny I think. Imagine being put on his foe list. You'd get a u2u saying that God has made you his foe!
