Struggle Among Iran's Clerics Bursts Into Open

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - A backstage struggle among Iran's ruling clerics burst into the open Sunday when the government said it had arrested the daughter and other relatives of an ayatollah who is one of the country's most powerful men....

Well, well, well, what do we have here? It seems that Ahmadinejad may have just crossed the line in terms of an internal power struggle, and in doing so, what are the chances that a "Fatwa" being issued against him now remains a possibility?

The Cleric whom was crossed happens to be the HEAD of the "Assembly of Experts", who in all actuality possess the power to remove or replace the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (The "Supreme Leader").

This is definitely becoming far more interesting by the minute folks.

At this point it looks like Rafsanjani is the main cleric who is beginning to oppose Ahmadinejad. There will have to be more before they could potentially topple the ruling regime. It would be ideal if Khamenei would step up to the plate at this point, but it seems doubtful right now.

An internal power struggle could possibly lead to a peaceful revolution, but more likely a violent one.

A regime change and/or a destabilization of Iran would be welcomed by the west.
