EXCLUSIVE: Minn. lawmaker vows not to complete Census
Outspoken Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann says she's so worried that information from next year's national census will be abused that she will refuse to fill out anything more than the number of people in her household.
In an interview Wednesday morning with The Washington Times "America's Morning News," Mrs. Bachmann, Minnesota Republican, said the questions have become "very intricate, very personal" and she also fears ACORN, the community organizing group that came under fire for its voter registration efforts last year, will be part of the Census Bureau's door-to-door information collection efforts.
"I know for my family the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home," she said. "We won't be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn't require any information beyond that."
Mrs. Bachmann said she's worried about the involvement of ACORN, the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, in next year's census.
They will be in charge of going door to door and collecting data from the American public," she said. "This is very concerning."

Hi, everyone,
I was driving home tonight, listening to a talk radio show, and they were talking about the big problems that some people are having with the 2010 census.
One caller called in and said that this year, ACORN, will be doing the census, because they approached the White House and said "Hey, let us do this, because we can do it cheaper than you can." And the White House (which is now overseeing the census) said ok.
Well, I have a problem with that, seeing as how ACORN has been accused of many wrong-doings during voter registration. But that isn't the worst part....
The worst part is this: She said that although it is illegal for the government to sell census information to marketers, it isn't illegal for a third party to do that (like Acorn.)
Well, this is the first I've heard about ACORN doing the 2010 census. My question to all of you is this: is it true? Has ACORN been awarded a government contract to do the 2010 census?
If so, is it legal for them to turn around and sell this information to marketers? If so, I'm not answering the census this year.
