Department of Defense: Protests = Terrorism

pushliberty.blogspot.com
Anti-terrorism training materials currently being used by the Department of Defense (DoD) teach its personnel that free expression in the form of public protests should be regarded as "low level terrorism."

In American or Iran ?

You need to get rid of the Mullhas - starting with Obama.

Why does this surprise anybody. Doesn't anyone remember when the "free speech zones" began a number of years ago?

You are allowed to protest as long as you do it in a pre-determined, roped or caged off area, far away from those you protest against. Any refusal to comply could lead to detainment, arrest, a nightstick across the head, being tazed, or any combination thereof.

When I complained about this to friends and family I was mostly met with indifference. Most people just don't seem to get it. They are ignorant of our history and why we have those rights to begin with. I don't think they view them as rights but as privileges granted by our wonderful government.

They tested us and we failed. They got away with it. Now it's time for the next step. It will continue. We will face more and more infringements of our rights. People will complain a little but do nothing. Maybe a few meaningless protests as if TPTB care about a few signs and slogans. The vise will tighten until it's too late and we face a tough decision. Then we will fail again.

America is doomed. Our country has become filled with too many ******-Americans (fill in any nationality) who don't care about America or it's history. We don't have a national identity to hold us together. Those of us who do care are labeled conspiracy theorists, racists, crazy, and now --- terrorists.

I don't know what the answer is. NOTHING will change for the better if Americans don't stick together and I don't see it happening. Too many get offended over every little thing. Political correctness has killed intelligent, honest debate. People are afraid to speak their minds in fear of offending someone and this conditioning has led to a fear of speaking up about anything.

Perhaps someone should send a copy of this report to the Iranian government, just to demonstrate what hypocrites we are here.

Aren't we telling them that they should allow protests in their disputed election?

Its time the world knew the true hypocrisy of the American government. Maybe then they will realize that our citizens are seen in the exact same manner as they are, as terrorists. Then perhaps they will direct their anger in the appropriate location, at our government, and not at us individually.

It is a sad day in America when we the people have more in common with our foreign adversaries than we do with our own government which is supposedly of, for, and by the American people.

According to a news report (by wait for it, FOX) the question in the exam paper was:

“Which of the following is an example of low-level terrorism?”
— Attacking the Pentagon
— IEDs
— Hate crimes against racial groups
— Protests

www.foxnews.com...

The answer was apparently 'Protests'

What did the Defense Department have to say?

Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Les Melnyk said the Defense Department is looking into the matter and expects to provide more information later Wednesday. “We need to determine if it’s something we’re currently doing,” Melnyk said. “A lot of the information in this exam is intended for people stationed abroad. We counsel those people to avoid demonstrations.”

www.foxnews.com...

“We need to determine if it’s something we’re currently doing” What the...?

Anyway, kind of makes a mockery about what has been said by politician about the terrorists (whoops, I mean protestors) in Iran trying to make their voices heard.

Does anyone know if The Defense Department added anymore information "later Wednesday" ? (article actually posted Weds 17th June!)

Anyway, glad to see some quotes in the article from people with a completely different viewpoint:

“Its part of a pattern of equating dissent and protest with terrorism," said Ann Brick, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union, which obtained a copy of the question after a Defense Department employee who was taking the test printed the screen on his or her computer terminal.

"It undermines the core constitutional values the Department of Defense is supposed to be defending,” Brick said, referring to the First Amendment right to peaceably assemble.

“That’s illegal,” said George Martin, national co-chairman of United for Peace and Justice. “Protest in terms of legal dissent has to be recognized, especially by the authorities. "It’s not terrorism or a lack of patriotism. We care enough to be active in our government.”
Bill Wilson, president of the Americans for Limited Government, which supported the Tea Party demonstrations earlier this year, agreed.

"Groups like Al Qaeda and Hezbollah, paramilitary orgainzations that are striking at out at something they oppose or hate, that's terrorism," Wilson said.

"To equate that in any degree with citizens being able to express themselves seems to me to be headed down a road where all dissent is suspect and questionable."
etc...

Funny but I have been gotten members passing as government "agents" telling me that they are on my butt for posting the way I post when it comes to the government.

No only once but many times, I am still waiting for the men in black in their dark windows SUVs coming to my door.

AT least you are funny about it.

Supporting your point OP with more info. Probably covered elsewhere on ATS already, if so, sorry.

This has been going on for a while, more than 10 yrs. I don't think most people have a handle on what is being called "terrorist" in these training sessions, flyers etc. circulated by DHS/feds to state and local govts. This one is from 2004, See this link at Virginia.gov: (pdf format).
Page 22 discusses Graffiti, Vandalism, Threats, Civil Disobedience as "low level terrorism". But terrorism is supposed to cause terror, right? We should be terrified all the time!? Hmmm, I don't get it. Is the definition of terror changing, Orwell style?

Page 41 mentions "anti-government groups" under the "extremist groups" category.

Page 49 indicates that you are "anti-government" if you are concerned about gun rights, states rights vs federal, the constitution, judicial abuses, national sovereignty, tax issues, "wise-use" (don't know but it sounds terrifying to me).

These things cause a chilling effect, people are afraid to be labeled terrorists for obvious reasons. Even MSM Glenn Beck, Hannity and others are trying to lump the 9/11 truth movement in with killer neo-nazis and terrorists. This is all very scary people!

Leave it to the DOD to publish something as unscrupolous as this. But then again, this is how you control your planet through the use of "Feigned Freedom." We are being misdirected by the events in Iran which we are told by the "Imperious Leader" "Not to interfere." BTW anyone here in the U.S. try to obtain a permit for peaceful march in your city or county lately. Ever see all the forms you have to now fill out. In most cities if you do not obtain the proper permits, your gathering will be considered an "unlawful gathering" and you will be told to disperse or face arrest. Labeling protests as low-level terrorism is inflammatory against the good citizens of our nation and I hope the ACLU sues them. P.S. Was this story shown on C.N.N.?

Lets just cut to the chase and make it so breathing = terrorism. Then the people in charge can just enforce it when it suits their needs and we can all go back to watching reality TV, since obviously Americans don't really care about our freedoms anymore or we would be doing what is happening in Iran.

Well, they need us breathing so we can continue to consume and work to maintain the environment they need to perpetuate a stranglehold over the entire human race.

However, they'll probably charge us for doing so...

The way I see it... more, and more legislation is in the works for this kind of crap. I am noticing an accelerated pace of increasing censorship and labelling dissent as terrorism. It begins small, but drop by drop the bucket is filling up and we're chained to the bottom with numerous obstacles keeping us from swimming to the surface so that we may shout the truth to those who have the power to keep this from happening.

The obstacles I speak of are various in nature. Our daily schedules hinder our ability somewhat to take the time needed to voice our concerns. Our jobs take up at least 1/3rd of our daily consciousness. Our family, friends, and other people shun us and label us as 'brainwashed', 'terrorists', 'unpatriotic', 'racist', etc., our congressmen do not listen to us when we write or call them. Our police force tazer our elderly, children, and peaceful demonstrators. They are reading our e-mails, listening to our phone calls, monitoring us from countless cameras, and satellites that can even see through walls....

They are doing everything in their power to hinder and prevent our progression toward real, actual change WITHOUT the restrictions of a federal government, and each & everyday we see it all around us, but we're indoctrinated that we are all "unique" and "special", that we are seperate from everyone else. The seperation stems from labels placed upon EVERYTHING. race, sex, religion, idealogy, demographic. It's all designed to segregate us into identifying ourselves with one group or another.

WE ARE ALL ONE. If people realized this and understood that what is happening in Iran right now isn't just happening to Iranians, but to us as HUMAN BEINGS, as a whole that populate this planet, then MAYBE people will be more inclined to stand up and revolt.. not just there, but here as well.

We are being setup, and have been for a long time, and the pieces are coming together. I don't want to say it's too late to do anything, but time is definitely running out.

The apathy, and indifference has to end. Unforunately, no one here can invoke the change required for such a revolution. It must come within. So be the change you wish to see, and hopefully others will wake up and follow.
