I just have no time for 'porn'. It does absolutely nothing for me. Now, if you give me a nice movie with a romantic sensual scene or two you'll see me melt. But porn, no thanks. If you are turned on by seeing two or more people grunting llike pigs and shrieking then by all means carry on. But leave me out of it thanks.

This debate is going nowhere. I of course am a Christian and believe that sex is a reservation for marriage and thus premarital sex is wrong, not for physical defections or numerous offspring, but for moral issues explicitly stated in the bible.

Where did you expect it to go? Did you expect everyone to see the error of their ways and side with you? This, like many things, has no absolute right or wrong; it is merely our perceptions of the matter at hand which decide what is right and what is wrong for every individual. Is porn/intercource/masterbation moral? Depends on your definition of morality.

Someone suggested and showed studies which claimed masterbation was healthy (at least this person's post had a leg to stand on in the way of any kind of testible truth). However the question is with what frequency is it healthy and when does it become too much or too little. You seem to keep bringing up the bible which is not provable so your concept of how porn or sex or whatever is wrong has a flawed foundation for any kind of absolute truth and you can not build a castle on sand.

The point being is that the morality of said things has no true right or wrong; it is just every individual's perception of the situation. Hence nothing is actually going to be resolved in this thread.

Hope you guys aren't saying my thread was stupid. I posted to see other peoples views.

I think there is nothing wrong with porn only if we can keep it from the children. Children are easily influenced and can think sex is just something they can have. Thus they go out and have sex. I think people should wait 'till marriage to have sex unless they are willing to get an abortion or get married if a baby comes.

I think that porn, using this logic, indirectly causes babies and the spread of sexual diseases. I think there are to many people in the world as it is.

By no means! I was just replying as to where this thread was suppose to go. Some members are posting like what they say is carved in stone, but as you just stated it is a sharing of views.

And just because I will never get a more appropriate place to post this:

Since this is all about porn chit-chat and nothing to do with a conspiracy in education or media...then off to chit-chat it goes.

But in the beginning of your post you were justifying porn as acceptable...I'm completely confused on your standing now.

Jonnah,
If this is the case, what is the point of any debate? It resides within my religion that a duty I have personally is "to make disciples of all nations"...I'm not attempting for "everyone to see the error of their ways and side" with me, as you so blatently put it...I was merely providing an alternative to the common judgement that I saw in this forum. I can agree, to some extent, that what is right and wrong depends on your definition of morality; however, to completely disclose the validity of the Bible, I believe, was a faillible misjudgement of your own. Of course I'm resting on the Bible, the core system of theories and ideals in my religion, as the basis of my arguments - an essential part of debating is viewing the discussion from either side. I hope you at one point will take this into consideration.

That being said after a considerable amount of my effort has gone into persuasion in this thread, I can respect that people, like me, have their own set of beliefs, and that fundamentally creates a problem with the concept of debate. So hats off to anybody who stands by their own sets of morals and devoutly protects them to the end.

out of interest , where in the bible does it say 'thou shalt not view others getting jiggy ' ?
where do our christian friends get thier biblical inspiration for thier anti porn stance ?
which verse ?
which book ?
does it also apply to watching yourself get jiggy ?
or just strangers ?
or are our christian friends deciding to add to the holy book as they see fit ???
i think we should be told !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Viewing pornography is a form of lust, as Jesus himself said. I can't recall the specific verse, but he said something to the effect of:
"In the past, you have been told that it is wrong if any man sleep with a women who is not that man's wife, but I tell you now, that any man who looks upon another man's wife with lust in his heart has committed adultery in my father's eyes."

There's nothing wrong with it and it serves a tremendous purpose: think of the exponetial rise in crime that would happen if it was abolished. Energy is energy, it's not a thing that can be destroyed, it simply changes form. I don't want the typical social outcast male beast directing that energy anywhere else, thank you!
As for children's access, there is never a reason to substitute proactive parenting with legislation.

Sorry to confuse you. My stand is that porn by itself is not bad. But in the American society it is bad thing. Hoewever, economically it is one of the best products out there. I don't want to bring economics into it. In a different society it could perfectly alright.

Ultimately i am saying that porn can be good our bad depending on the society. Porn is o.k. for adults to me, but keeping it away from children is impossible.

I am o.k. with it going to chit-chat.

I posted it here because i was talking about porn as a possible negative teaching tool for children.
