I spent my summers working on my grandfather's farm when I was a child. Times were tough. Some years were great, some were pretty tough.
To those who rationalize stealing the cattle because the individual was hungry, think about who goes hungry next. When you are teetering on the edge
of bankruptcy, you need every bit of livestock to make ends meet.
Our big problem was not livestock, but rather water rights. People diverted flows, or would pull up a watertrunk tanker and literally start filling
up.
Individual farmers are under too tight of a profit margin to justify stealing from them. Families will starve one way or the other. As a farmer (if I
was one), I would be concerned about protecting my family from starving. Someone poaching my land would be looking to get shot.
