Well if it I believed their only intention was to make our health care the best it could be that would be cool with me. But were looking at the big picture here. They are laying the ground work to get us all in the "brave new world" mindset. From the mandatory slave labor errr um community service to taking over private banks, insurance companies, vehicle manufacturers, ect. The media is becoming a one sided mouth piece at ground breaking speeds. And now wanting to control our "well being" through health care. I mean lets be real here, they want complete domination over the populous whether intentions are good or ill it doesn't matter, it puts us all in a state of helplessness to our masters.

Which is why I believe conservatives/libertarians/constitutionalists that push for absolute freedom from any gov't control are only trying to preserve power for the people, even if that means some things are sacrificed and we have to struggle more for what we need/want it's the only way absolute freedom can be obtained, I wish I could say retained but we've been controlled for far too long all ready.

"ABCNEWS prides itself on covering all sides of important issues and asking direct questions of all newsmakers"

"ABCNEWS alone will select those who will be in the audience asking questions of the president. Like any programs we broadcast, ABC News will have Complete Editorial Control. To suggest otherwise is quite unfair to both our journalists and our audience."

What a contradiction to say the least. I can only imagine what kind of a media cluster *SNIP* this is going to be..... To all in the media, you need to grow some..........., and stand up for the people and not the corporations. And thats beign nice about it!

As I have said many many times. Obama isn't in charge. No president for a long time has been in charge of this country. Just because it's Obama doesn't mean all of a sudden the man in the oval office has any power.

Now do us all a big favor and name just one thing government does a good job of running. Just one thing ...

I believe the government does a pretty good job at running the national park service. (But I bet that won't count for some odd reason.)

Ok, so if we can agree that there is in fact a shadow government running things around the white house, then doesn't it seem natural that they would just at one point stop the facade and be open about the control they have over our government?

So with that said, state sponsored media has been around in this country for a very long time.

But hey, Obama is the new whipping boy in town so everyone hurry up and tack a crack at him. Might as well right? It won't do a bit of good except to make everyone feel better about themselves.

I love how y'all get so defensive and teed off whenever I show up in one of these threads. Gives me a nice advantage, cause when you get mad at words on a screen, I get lots and lots of time to really understand the real hatred you all have for this person.

keep being this naive...

Well, they say ignorance is bliss, and patience is a virtue, so by default if Im dumb and don't mind waiting around for stuff, Ill have a good life.

Now we see Socialist programs, and even worse, socialist programs which exist only in Communist dictatorships and all you can do is make a joke at what we have been pointing is obvious?...

Why so serious?

Ok, so we went from the last administration ripping up the constitution and using it for toilet paper, to this one swinging the other way and all of a sudden the government is the enemy? Really? WOW, I mean WOW. Where were you when the last administration was conducting illegal domestic eavesdropping on cell phones? Where were you when the last administration decided that it was ok to waterboard our POWs?

Sorry you don't appreciate my sense of humor. Some do like it. Heck I find me funny.

Grow the hell up...
For you, ill try, I really really will, wait, nope can't, sorry.

GM is now NATIONALIZED, and several other companies will follow through. of course, the Obama administration also want healthcare to be NATIONALIZED and yet there are Americans who think there is nothing wrong with all of this...

Whoa wait, hold the phone, who gave GM and Chrysler the bailout money to begin with? Wait for it, wait for it, AWWW GEORGE W BUSH! Damn doesn't it feel great to be wrong? So Bush gives car companies, and banks huge gigantic bailouts and it's all Obama's fault right? Man Obama is so EVIL that he somehow even before he became president forced his diabolical sinister wicked master plan to turn America into a communist regime the likes of which Castro himself would shy away from.

So now we are rewriting history? Is that the case? Just let me know, that way I can catch up on all the evil stuff Obama has done to this country. How long are yall gonna go back? Just give me a ballpark will ya?

You are 100% correct!

I oppose this because I really wonder how small buisnesses alike will make this through and how america will pay for this. How can WE (the people) afford this when we already have that stimulus to pay off? Huh Obama? and how do you (the president and Congress) plan to fine small buisnesses that can NOT afford to even pay for their employies' health care. A good friend of mine tried to give that benifit to his employies last year, but it got waay too out of hand because of the pressuring costs. I truly think that Obama (and Ted Kennedy) is ruining our beloved country.

seems to me there was plenty of outrage over bush's activities, which is how obama got elected with so little scrutiny. certainly the media bashed bush from his first election day onward and the general public minus business people who saw him as somewhat helpful complained bitterly about him. don't you remember what a surprise it was when he was reelected in 2004? it's just that john kerry wasn't a very exciting alternative what with his own big business connections.

now we have obama praised to the skies by media here and around the world, with only the teeniest of grumbles about his long and frequent speeches. you're right though, it doesn't mean he isn't controlled from elsewhere. but since we don't have the identity of the official controller, so we have to settle for obama. and he sure does love to be on the tv. i don't think any previous president has been so infatuated with the small screen. of course he speaks well, has a nice laugh, and is--did i mention--praised to the skies for everything he does. if he makes a mistake it's no big, give him a chance, after all bush.......

doesn't sound much like "news" though when it's presenting only one version of the issue.

It's not, it is pure propaganda without remorse really. But what do you expect out of this government?

Now if you all started ranting and raving about that Rhom Emanuel guy, I would be right there with you. That dude is a stone cold snake. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

But Obama? Really now, Obama is just a freaking mouth piece reading off of a teleprompter. He has no power, no control. Heck, the guy doesn't even make his own schedule.

Bush never had any control, no power either, but boy howdy did we ever bash that nincompoop. We shredded him and Cheney every time they opened their idiot mouths. But in all reality they had no control either.

All I've sen on this thread is THIS kind of scaremongering.

It is a WELL DOCUMENTED fact that our (UK National Health Service) doesn't exist through overtaxing British citizens. Yours doesn't have to either!!! We pay a proportionate level of N.I. contributions from our income, and that even covers ambulances - something you pay for in lieu in the US (and at $1,000 for an average 'trip' the cost is absolutely disgusting!!).

But, to imply that it will costs everyone more or less everything they have is just stupid. You also will have the option to MIX what level of care you get from a private policy. You do know that don't you???

The thing is, you will FINALLY be rid of the private insurers who want to deny people payouts/treatment simply because of a bottom liine. At present insurers are happy for policy holders to die if it will save them money. Obama will undo this!!!

The UK system isn't perfect, admittedly (you will no doubt learn from many of our mistakes too) and is subject to spending increases/cutbacks of the residing Government. However, I will say this (something NONE of us on here has the right to deny)...

For a country as rich as the US (/UK) to deny its citizens free point of access healthcare is down right sickening and on some level (though I do not believe in 'god') is a sin.

Ergo, for all the power you willingly grant your successive Governments, universal healthcare should be a "God given right" under what is arguably the finest document ever written - your consitution.

Edited for typos!

Hi Gang!,
I'm new here so be nice. Few things I don't understand. Like I live in Boston, and people come here from all around the world with like disgusting things, just so they can visit our hospitals and like maybe get better. So I think we have the BEST health care money can buy. Yeh money!
Anyway, this TV thing will be really cool. WATCH IT! The big O will be doing some of his NLP magic and most of the programmed need a recharge. And watch carefully and see if you can pick out the cool subliminials. I know they worked hard on that.
As for you dudes into the whole Democrat/Republican thing, like that is so last decade! You gotta grow up. Look at the money! Goldman Sacks was #1 contributor to both canditates, as they stood side by side with Georgie and urged support for the Bailout. Can I get a Whoa Bailout! Let's show some NWO spirit!
Anyway, like they were saying at the club last night, the government health care is about owning the doctors so they'll go along with the vaccines and the microchips. Gotta keep track of the sheep you know. And the best part is the big O will get to put them further under hypnosis, while selling them on how this will be in their best interests. What a hoot. Reality TV at it's best! You have to watch. Watch carefully. You know you want to. We have candy.

makes you wonder if the whole point of being president is to be the bash-point

boy do i agree with you about rahm emmanuel. very scary dude, and manages to stay behind the scenes pretty much. he's much closer to being the one calling the shots, but i'm sure he's taking orders from elsewhere too. personally i think he is capable of anything. absolutely anything. the beauty of it is he is not accountable for anything because he is appointed.

whoever and however it's being done, this latest group of clowns is consolidating power like never before. though the power mainly consists of sucking in money and funneling it to their cronies. they seem to be doing it more effectively this past year but maybe that's an illusion.

the hardest part about this whole media sham is that it is no longer possible to tell what even resembles accuracy. whatever we are told is going to be distorted, including this gracious presentation on health care. will people really watch it?

The thing you have to ask yourself, is, did Obama know he was going to do this incredible-feats-in-100-days-thing, or is he just genuis at working on the spot.

Obama is the craftiest, lyingest, most dangerous man who has ever held office, and that's saying something.

I don't know why but I've had the feeling that Obama was groomed at a early age to be President of this country.

If so, he had alot of time to think about and learn how to destroy it.

and it gets worse:

ABC is refusing to air paid ads during its White House health care presentation, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, including a paid-for alternative viewpoint! The development comes a day after the network denied a request by the Republican National Committee to feature a representative of the party's views during the Obama special. Conservatives for Patients Rights requested the rates to buy a 60-second spot immediately preceding 'Prescription for America'.

drudge report

it seems to me that this is becoming an FCC issue. I'm sure there are some kinds of regulations for the behavior of broadcast networks. This network is becoming the media arm of the white house. that's not normal business.

That's a good point there. Anyone know more about FCC regulations that might be involved here??

There isn't any regulations for demanding time or even airing a viewpoint. The 'Fairness Doctrine' is what you are referring too and it wouldn't make any difference. It's a problem that no one seems to have a solution for that could not be used against an opposing idea or in a nefarious manner. We are just going to have to research this for our selves and hope enough take the time to actually see that this process will result in medical care that will be rationed in a manner unsuitable for the American citizens. It will be politicized and used against people instead of for the people. The Federal Government has no Constitutional right to do this. Period!

To all the people who are saying "well, you people are just realizing NOW that media and the government are in bed together, they have been for years, etc etc this is nothing new etc etc" THAT'S THE POINT.

Show it to them before it happens... A private network has finally revealed itself and is broadcasting for an entire day from the white house. No (not even paid-for) alternative viewpoints or paid advertisements during this....

They're outright telling you what some have known has been brewing for years. Whether Obama, Cheney, or Rumsfeld or Rupert Murdoch owns the network matters not. Of course they're all in bed together, but now they're SHOWING you this....THIS IS THE POINT.

Everyone is caught up in the right-left, "bush did it so why can't obama", or are so jaded by knowing all this for so long that they are just watching it unfold like some reality TV show.

This scares the crap out of me. Obama may not have any actual power to do anything, like every other president, but he's got a hell of a lot more soft power over the minds and emotions of a lot of people than any president I've witnessed.

Btw on the health care thing. I live in Canada and yeah it's not all it's cracked up to be. Swedes, Australians, yes, they've got it down pretty pat....but the American Government sure as hell ain't the Swedish or Australian gov't....plus the Swedes and Aussies don't have to deal with 300 million (censussed) people, an unknown number of immigrants, and 50 states.

Like I was saying up here in Canada, the quality of care varies from province to province...doctors want to go where they will make the most money and have the least amount of stress, so this leaves the provinces that are mostly rural out in the cold. The hospital in my town is falling apart, is still run by a diesel generator. We can't get doctor here, unless they are waiting on their lisence to practice medicine in the rest of Canada. (They can practice in Northern and Rural communities until they earn this lisence) I have a friend whose mother's liver cancer life saving surgery was cancelled twice because there weren't enough beds...1500 kms away in our provincial capital...the population of our province is approx 600,000. So, yeah.

Either way this ABC thing is dead wrong wrong wrong.
