I'm getting tired of people with health care putting down any thought of the government getting involved.

we already have a form of socialized medicine, and it sucks.

I talked to a friend today whos daughter is on welfare assistance, she cannot find a doctor.

No doctors in this area are taking on " new," welfare patients.

BTW I don't have health care.

Also of the 50 odd million without health care under Obama's plan only 16 million will be covered.

I have a feeling I will still fall between the cracks,

yet my tax dollar will provide health care for others,

while me and mine still go without.

Sorry to hear about your situation but I don't see how the government-care would be any better.

For every plan out there you are going to find exceptions to the rule. In this case, you provide the exception.
But gov-care won't solve all you're problems. Based on your age/earning potential/general health, you will be mandated to have what care is perscribed by some beancounter going off some excel spreadsheet.

As for your specific case, have you tried going to any catholic charities? Being a lapsed catholic I did know that the church helped out anyone, even those not of the pope-ish faith. What ever yours is, keep it brother!

While I understand why people have a problem with the government running the media (obviously not a good thing).

I don’t understand why so many of you are against Government Healthcare, here in Australia we have it, and hospital treatment and doctors are free (Medicare), every Australian citizen gets it and every Australian citizen gets treatment.

I had my appendix taken out, here it was free, everything about it. Had I been a US Citizen in the US it would have cost at minimum $9000!

It’s great, I really don’t see what the problem is?

Mikey, may I ask what taxes you pay? I already know about the VAT (value added tax, right?) but how much of your actual paycheck goes to the government?

Well... I'm a student now so don't pay taxes anymore, hehehe.

But when I was working full time my tax was about 22% (thats average here).

We don't have VAT here, we have GST (goods and service tax) which is 10%.

Normal income tax is 22%.

But our taxes also cover our FEE-HELP debt, which is basically our University cost.

For example, I go to University, My Degree that i’m doing costs $16,000..... I don’t pay any of it. But once I start earning over $45,000 then my tax pays some of the cost back, every Australian Citizen gets this. (If you don’t go to University then you don’t have the FEE-HELP debt so your tax is a bit less, also if you take out private health insurance you get a rebate too).

So it’s a good system I think, well it means that every Australian citizen can go to University without having to worry about the cost and also means that every Australian citizen can go to a doctor or hospital without having to worry.

EDIT: Looking at the Medicare site and Wiki it says: "It is funded by a 1.5% tax levy. An additional levy of 1% is imposed on high-income earners without private health insurance"

So not too bad

Sad is people actually are waiting for it with anticipation.

Thats precisely what I thought when I got onto Drudge today. Obama beat up FOX News in an interview shown on Fox News tonight but nothing negative on the other networks. So now it looks like Abama Broadcasting Co. with Charles "Hussain" Gibson is going to Sanitize the News now, why don't they just rename the company to Tass?

Not to be cynical but the government has owned the media for about as long as media had existed. The only difference here is that they are now starting to admit it, ....because we are at a point in time where we can no longer do anything about it. It's only about time for them to start cracking the whip on us. Maybe they will make us do forced slave labor for our country like the Hitler youth was forced to do and call it something like mandatory service for your country. Oh wait, that's already in the works by Obama right now isn't it? I dislike you Republican politicians and I dislike you too Democrat politicians, you are one in the same. You are all just putting on a show for us and then sucking down caviar after the show is over using taxpayers dollars anyway. I'm not fooled a bit. Jesse Ventura (Navy Seal, previous Governor of Minnesota and pro-wrestler) said what he saw as a politician was the same thing. They put on a big show for the public (just like wrestling) and when the curtains go down, they all go out and eat together and laugh at us stupid Americans.

Hello? is anyone home? Where pray is this government that you speak of? The same government that has always made promises and then stole from us and ran us in debt? Just because Obama came after the monster Bush, this makes him the savior now? Better? A monkey would have been better by comparison. Is it the same government that we have had since Kennedy? Are we really going BACK to incessant bickering? It was our lack of bickering and complacence as the only superpower in the world and being the richest nation on earth that got us to where we are right now in the first place, A RECESSION. It is the lack of people not speaking out that gets you in trouble.....not bringing to attention the cancerous nature of a defunct government who you now say "can get things done". Look up all of the promises that Obama made when running for president and revel in the knowledge that he has broken everyone of his promises so far. The ones he hasn't broke yet are heading in that direction quickly. Some would say that "at least he's not as bad as Bush"..I say he is worse, With a big bright smile that hypnotizes women and a charisma that entrances even the hardest of skeptics he is not creating what Bush did..but he is, clandestinely, expanding those powers that Bush put in place like a wildfire. He has even written a bill that would imprison average Americans and deny them a right to trial or even the ability to get out of prison, hence, remaining in a FEMA prison, indefinitely! His whole cabinet is nothing but Wall Street and no one else even has a say.Yes, I want a better government, but Kennedy was the last 'real' president we had and all others subsequently work for the NWO....better government is not an option here pal. You call it incessant bickering, I call it waking up and enlightening those who still think the way you do.With all due respect, I call what you are doing (minimizing the words of an aware American who wants the best for his fellow countrymen), laying out the welcome mat for the NWO which is, at least morally, unconscionable. You see they are counting on our laziness and complacent nature to continue their evil deeds against our nation. This who fail to look into history, those who believe the controlled medias lies, those who are just to tired from work to care, those who don't want their perfect, picket fence illusion of life disturbed....they are still going to get you It will only hurt more to those who ignore it as they weren't aware and didn't brace for impact. If you really want to know the truth about Obama from people who have done their homework and is exempt from viewing Obama through the batting eyelashes and tear-filled eyes and is aware of the NWO sponsored halo placed atop this supposed 'saviors' head.....watch the documentary .."The Obama Deception." I will continue to complain elsewhere now to other Americans who may be more thankful to me and my kind for caring about their lives. Sometimes it only takes words to get the job done. It's how GOD created the universe. This I believe.I also believe in his son Jesus and that he died for our sins and rose 3 days later and will soon return to solidify our victory. In no way did I mean to disrespect you sir in this rejoinder, it is but a debate.

Obama is NOT the Antichrist - Lucifer is, but I do know who the Prince to Come is, the King to come is, and He shall come shortly as it is almost time for Him to appear, and right now you won't find Him in any politics, rich setting, etc...

For a few hours or so I shall leave a clue who this person is in my signature, and if you have seen or been following me - you would of been clued in, and let us say this that Lucifer has so deceived the world insomuch that even this Prince to come can't believe, and still kind of won't believe it was Him, and wants to think He is crazy, but All is too real for Him....

Got this email regarding it, pretty much sums it up...

President Obama wants healthcare reform this year.

He said at a town hall meeting the other day that he won't tolerate "endless delay" and that we probably won't reform healthcare if we don't do it this year.

Now why is that Mr. President? Will Congress be on vacation for the remaining three years of your term?

Consider that it's not unusual to take a full session of Congress -- two years -- to pass legislation a fraction of the size and consequence of healthcare reform. Yet our president is demanding that a bill to overhaul a $2.5 trillion sector of our economy -- one sixth of it -- be considered and passed in a few short weeks.

It ought to be clear that this is not about taking an honest and sincere look at how to make this a better country and how to do a better job at delivering healthcare to Americans. It's impossible to look at something this massive and deal with it in such a short time frame.

This is about raw politics. When Mr. Obama says that if we don't get "it" done this year we probably won't get "it" done, he doesn't mean reforming healthcare. He means reforming it the way he and Ted Kennedy want to do it. Government-run, nanny state healthcare.

To pull it off, they have to move fast.

First, the White House knows that Mr. Obama's honeymoon won't last forever. While his personal approval ratings remain high at 60 percent, his disapproval rating now at 33 percent is almost twice where is stood last February. And, in latest Gallup polling, the majority now disapprove of how Obama is handling government spending. So the White House wants action now on healthcare while their man is still popular.

Second, the White House knows that next year is an election year. It will be far more difficult to get senators and congressmen to play ball.

Third, they know that the big reason that Hillary Care failed in 1993 was that the American people were given an opportunity to look at it and consider it. They don't want to make the same mistake of giving voters a chance to actually understand what is about to happen to them. They know that the more Americans have an opportunity to take a look at the bureaucrat-run, nanny state healthcare freight train, the more likely they will jump of the track.

Breathlessness is a great political technique. Telling voters that the world will end if we don't get X passed now.

This is how the $800 billion dollar "stimulus" bill got passed earlier this year. We were flashed images of the Great Depression of the 1930s and told our only hope is the stimulus bill.

Now, three months later, it's clear that our current economy bears no resemblance to the 1930s, that signs of recovery are emerging, and thus far only six percent of the $800 billion "stimulus" pot of political lard has been spent.

The trillions in new debt have been piled up at such a dizzying pace in the last few months Americans are numb. The federal government take from our economy has jumped from one-fifth of it to one-fourth.

Now, Mr. Obama and his Democrat colleagues want to layer on a new government healthcare plan to "compete" with private plans. "Compete" means raising taxes a few trillion dollars to provide subsidized insurance, and in some cases, free insurance, through a government plan in which all Americans will eventually wind up -- and putting federal bureaucrats in charge of approving what healthcare procedures we are permitted.

The healthcare nanny state freight train is moving. Will we wake up before it's too late?

Bravo lol. The party in power is letting it all hang out because it knows the ppl don't care and can do nothing about it. "THIS" is reality tv at it's best.

They are gonna televise everything( they may even have a running commentary explaining the dismantleing of the country step by step) the ppl will be so engrossed in the show that the time for outrage and opposition will have passed.

Subliminal messageing is illegal, laying it all out there for everyone to see is cheaper in the long run anyway.

No longer will the government have to "slip" legislation past anyone. The ppl will be watching it in real time and betting on the outcome lol. It will be water cooler gossip,

"Man, I lost a bundle when that manditory military service bill passed, totally wiped out what i won when they finally struck down our right to bear arms, hope the bread line isn't too long today, I don't want to miss who gets voted out of the country, after they took away free speech that vote's got to be fixed cause it is always the ppl that speak out that seem to get voted off ".

ABCNEWS Senior Vice President Kerry Smith on Tuesday responded to the RNC complaint, saying it contained 'false premises':

"ABCNEWS prides itself on covering all sides of important issues and asking direct questions of all newsmakers -- of all political persuasions -- even when others have taken a more partisan approach and even in the face of criticism from extremes on both ends of the political spectrum. ABCNEWS is looking for the most thoughtful and diverse voices on this issue.

"ABCNEWS alone will select those who will be in the audience asking questions of the president. Like any programs we broadcast, ABC News will have complete editorial control. To suggest otherwise is quite unfair to both our journalists and our audience."

Developing...

If this is true this whole thread is about nothing. If it is false it is about everything.

It will be clear really fast if the questioners are hand picked to Obama's benefit. I'll hold my opinion until afterward. Obama's Town Halls were clearly rigged, but this one is on ABC's head.

And Bush's weren't?

You have a President who wants to talk to the people about his plans, obviously this is an attempt to inform people on exactly what is planned and why.

Why would the President bother to do that? So that he can get public backing. Because he knows that without the public behind him, he cannot succeed with his plan.

O God how I wish Cheney were back running the show in the dark, he would know what's best for us all. He would have my best interests at heart, I would bet both my kidneys on it! Cheney with his warm and smiling face. Oh God how did Obama get such power that he is allowed to talk to the American People?
