Power play is on..
China wanting more terretory in theyr region and the tensions in Korea plus that the Russians are bargaining for huge areas up in the Cold North for oil drilling.

This scenario seems to be for something else.
Should we pay more attention north ? are the russians sneaking theyr way to the oil in the artic whilst we all are busy keeping our eyes on other parts of the world.

China: U.S. destroyer’s sonar hit submarine

updated 6:36 a.m. ET June 16, 2009

BEIJING - China's Foreign Ministry acknowledged for the first time Tuesday a collision last week between a Chinese submarine and a sonar being towed by a U.S. Navy destroyer.

The incident occurred Thursday, spokesman Qin Gang said, while giving no details.

The U.S. Navy has had little comment on the incident, other than to say that the USS John S. McCain's towed sonar had been damaged. There have been no reports of injuries or damage to either vessel.

'' While analysts said the collision appeared to be an accident, they have warned of a growing pattern of incidents and confrontations arising from China's growing naval power and willingness to assert territorial claims in waters off its coast.

"What we're seeing are the initial stages of a growing military competition between the United States and China with naval forces rubbing up against each other in a dangerous and largely unregulated posturing for alliances and natural resources in the region," said Hans M. Kristensen, a researcher with the Federation of American Scientists in Washington, D.C.

The incident reportedly occurred in international waters northwest of the former U.S. naval base at Subic Bay in the Philippines. Beijing considers the area its territorial waters as part of its claim to the entire South China Sea and opposes U.S. military operations and data gathering there. ''

It was a Towed Sonar Array...its a cable about 5000 ft long that is towed behind the ship. The actual sonar dome would've involved a collision between the two vessels.

If it was intentional, it was pretty stupid since a sub's mission is to maintain stealth. Personally i'm guessing they zigged, when they shoulda zagged.

This has been covered. I don't know how many chinese subs can hit american destroyer sonar arrays but here's a link to another thread.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

not sure if that is the first thread started but this has been listed here a few times.

This isn't the first time we have had run in's with China in the past few month's. China is now disputing the water's that have up until now been considered international. This due to a chain of island's they claim to now have ownership of.(old new's really been going on for year's)

Also Russia already made their intention's known about the artic drilling; they are going to do it, and no one can stop them.(Their words) They went as far as to plant a Russian flag on the sea bottom, at an area that is supposed to be "non" ownable by anyone in the world.
Kind of like when all went racing for the moon and planted their nation's flag there. They want control of the reserve's there. When it come's down to the oil etc. running out in the ME the artic is where to be to come out on top and be the one holding the world hostage for the reserve's. Changing of the guard is all happen's all the time. Only this time Russia who isn't "affraid" to turn off an entire country's supply is going to get it if someone doesn't get in the way.

That is along the lines Im thinking, maybe Russia is the one in coop with mossad and drawing attentions away from north-oil.
Russia and China..As you said, if that in a short while is gonna be the only un'drained oil well, they are not gonna let go.

They do imo have alot of time to set up defence up there..
