I figure out the problem. I had loaded a KMZ with that date, and Google Earth apparently adds that date to the history.
Just for the record, here are all the GE images of that area.

So other than the year (2005 versus 2006), I agree with you.
I pulled these images off the current Linux version of Google Earth. It shows a few things that don't appear on the current version of the windows
Google Earth, such as the apparent altitude of the view. Once in a while, the day of the image is off, which may have something to do with the data
being GMT versus local in the database, and how the program interprets the date in each version.
Pretty much this whole Google Earth history feature is very beta.
