Okay fascinating...

But depressing,

That's just awful...

I know people like this could be helped, bio feedback learning to consciously control brain states... things in that direction, there is no end to what the mind can rewire if you actively try...

six months though ... so fast

You can't "consciously control" brain states if you're missing a part of your brain, like this guy was.

I was wondering if they tried something like melatonin. It's not always high on Drs. lists. Or I wonder if they could have tried human growth hormone or something like that, since that increases during sleep.

Wow poor guy , 6 months and nothing anyone could do about it .
I was surprised a person could live that long without sleep , but I guess he wasn't really living in that zombie like state anyway .
I was told about 2 weeks was the max , but that would be for a person without the brain malfunction .
You'd need a serious amount of stimulants to do 2 weeks though

Wow, very very sad. I hope they find a cure. But again, its so few that has it, will it be prioritized?
