I can't help you there, however I think you've reinforced my earlier statement.

File "Obamatron" under the same place as "Obama Lover". Your agenda was pretty much revealed -- by the title -- at the time you posted your thread.

If you really wanted supporters of President Obama to chip in with their views/opinions of his merits since being elected, you would've phrased it differently -- eluding to an open debate.

OK I will try it your way but I think that the lack of responses is because there are no valid answers.edit;I also never saw an Obama supporter let the facts get in the way of their conclusions.

People. Stop lambasting Obama.

At least he's DOING SOMETHING.

Would you rather he do nothing?

Or, what, sit back on his haunches and wait for ANOTHER wave of comments to rip into THOSE actions?

If you're not happy with it, go assasinate him or something. Personally, he's making some mistakes but he's not VERY bad at his job right now.

Trust me, when he's VERY bad you can tell. Guns will ACTUALLY BE BANNED. Economy will downright CRASH. Repeat incidents of 9/11. Terrorism. Global war. Worse pandemics going around.

All presidents are bound to stumble a little here and there. Bill Clinton did. George Bush did. Even Ronald Reagan did. Harry Truman MOST CERTAINLY did.

Obama's only been in office for, as you've said, 5 months. He's inherited a world TEN TIMES worse than what previous presidents have had to deal with. Financial meltdowns, H1N1, North Korea, Iran, Myanmar, national clashes between different groups of people...

Give him some time. Give him some credit to what he's been able to do. He's president of YOUR country.

If you don't support him, who are you going to support? Or who you rather just criticize and hope he crashes and takes your country down with him?

Or am I hearing some prevalent conspiratorial prejudices against him here?

Come on, folks. This is ridiculous. Jumping at his jugular five months since his inauguration.

please elaborate.I can think of one thing he did, spent 3,000,000,000,000 in record time and I don't think he could tell you what for.

Would you rather he do nothing?
yes please

My signature says it all.

Obama will be neutralized in 2010. Obama knows he only has 2 years to destroy the country...why do you think he is moving so fast on his programs?

Yes, I support Obama.

Am I an Obamatron?

Boy, are you one prejudiced, complacent smart-pass.

And my answer is, no.

Rather, what I see is that you - and SO many others - are unnecessarily critical of him.

I am NOT an Obamatron. If he crashes and burns like the Bushes did, you bet I will be saying a lot about it. But he's not. In fact, right now I think he's doing decent for a President with so much hate against him (he's got a lot more closeted haters than Bush, I think) who has to deal with a whole MESS of problems in the world.

I would so love to ask "What has Obama done SPECTACULARLY WRONG?"

Take the global meltdown for example.

The plan to intentionally create a deficit and to spend more to stimulate the economy may not seem like a plan to you... but ECONOMICALLY, it is. As in, Academics. As in, Economics. As in, why don't you read up on Keynesian theory of Aggregate Demand-and-Supply and then say something. High taxes are bad - I feel the pinch too - but what else can be done?

Besides, he didn't create it, unlike George Bush, who signed into effect a law that prevents transparency of large companies like AIG.

If you cannot suggest an alternative, then... keep quiet (putting it nicely).

I am unhappy with the taxes, and I vent my frustrations on the board, but ultimately I do not go so far as to being "an Obamatron".

Which is to imply, what, i'm some sort of robot mind-controlled by Obama?

During the election, I was a staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton. Not Obama. In fact, I hoped he didn't take office. Now that he did... I have to support him. Because I am American.

If John McCain took office, I would have supported him too.

For many of the other issues, I would like you to suggest alternatives that could please BOTH SIDES of those issues. Energy crisis. H1N1. If you can do that, I'll nominate you for President myself.

Again, I am not an Obamatron.

But I think he needs support, as do ALL Presidents. I supported Bush at first. And then, 8 years into his presidency, he makes such a mess. Unpardonable.

5 months? No mess so far. It's all good. If he starts screwing up majorly next yr or the yr after, that's it. Boom. I'm gone.

But, right now all I can do is support him. Support AMERICA.

His cabinet is very skilled too.

Steven Chu, Nobel Prize winner? Robert Gates, skilled security tactician? Janet Napolitano, one of the top Governors before she took over Homeland Security? Hilda Solis, who understands everything minority labor workers go through?

Granted, Tim Geitner needs to do some work. As does Hillary Clinton, my former pick for President, who seems like such a shadow of Condoleeza Rice. Kathleen Sebelius has been dreadful so far. I have not seen healthcare measures in place, especially not the ones Obama proposed back in his campaign.

But does that make me hate Obama? No. I see YOU are. You are finding him so disgusting you are calling everyone who doesn't "Obama-trons". I'll give him 18 months before I make my judgment. Not five. Not in the wake of AIG. Of H1N1 GLOBAL PANDEMIC. Not in the wake of North Korea's hostage situation of two of OUR VERY OWN AMERICANS.

Where's your sense of patriotism?

Or are you all Republicans who have been listening a little too much to Rush Limbaugh?

Does that make you "Limbaughtrons?" Maybe "McCaintrons?"

I have not been receiving radio signals in my head. Maybe you have. We all know Rush Limbaugh is part of a radio station.

UNBELIEVABLE.

IT"S YOUR COUNTRY!

how can you say that?

You mean your hatred for one man is enough to cause you to NOT want the best decisions made for your country! You want in-fighting, where GOP does battle with Dems and NOTHING GETS DONE?

As in, Obama DOES NOTHING?

Goodness I'm so disgusted with you and I have half a mind to leave ATS right now!

Except, I remember, YOU are just ONE person out of the HUNDREDS (thousands?) here on ATS.

Maybe you should remember the same about Obama.

Try "Dittoheads" and proud of it!

Limbaughs point is if Obama's policies fail, America is better for it. If Obama succeeds America is screwed.

Thanks for a very nuanced response. I'm on the outside looking in, and I am admittedly a centre-left type here in the Great White North. But it pains me to watch America tear itself apart with this partisan Bravo Sierra, and again, as an outsider, it appears to be the Right who is wrong.

Yes indeedy...where is your sense of patriotism? Good question, but of course you'll get the wrong answers. A star for you, nonetheless.

Don't understand that bit though, about the policies failing and America being better for it.

Explain to me (I am GENUINELY INTERESTED) Limbaugh's point. If OUR PRESIDENT'S POLICIES fail, OUR COUNTRY is better for it? inversely proportional?

That's such a paradox! I don't understand. EXPLAIN!

so your answer to the op is nothing but he's all we got?I think your frustration is due in part to the fact that you want to like Obama (and that begs the question why?)and I truly believe you love our country as do I!But I think you need to learn to differentiate between government and country.Let me just quickly say that I believe our gov.wants our country to run differently(socialistic welfare section 8 sponge state) than it has and I want it to run like it used to( free market capitalism )does that make me less patriotic?NO!

The easiest way I can explain it is.........

As bad as Jimmy Carter was, he didn't completely destroy the country. In fact Jimmy Carter brought us Ronald Reagan!

Ehhh.... still don't understand?

So you're saying the President after Obama will be fantastic?!

Um. Bush after Clinton wasn't exactly better.

(Edited) Worse, in fact. (/Edited)

Keep explaining - I don't think I get it yet.

Originally posted by genius/idoityour use of the word torture is subjective at best

Oh...one of the 'waterboarding ain't torture bunch? Seems it used to be a war crime...

After Japan surrendered, the United States organized and participated in the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, generally called the Tokyo War Crimes Trials. Leading members of Japan's military and government elite were charged, among their many other crimes, with torturing Allied military personnel and civilians. The principal proof upon which their torture convictions were based was conduct that we would now call waterboarding. www.washingtonpost.com...

...and please tell me that your misspelling of idiot is high irony, and not...well, idiotic.

so your answer to the op is nothing but he's all we got?weak!

My dear.

I am not here to win an argument.

If my argument's weak, by all means come on and try to beat it down.

I'm here to learn, and to learn about what you all think. I knew I was gonna be in for a shock when I came onto this board, because of some very out-there theories on here... but such un-patriotic proclamations are a whole other level of shock.

Just because you hate the man doesn't mean you hate the country. Whatever he does, he does it for the country. So what's he, a closeted Muslim wanting to destroy the country for Afghanistan?

When that happens... I will be horrified. You can say, "Told you so" and I will proceed to pull out Final Draft Pro to write a script for an Alias movie.

I didn't hear ANY of these things when Bush was in office, and he did WAY worse things that weakened our country to the state it is now. Is it because of his skin color? Obama's trying to RIGHT what Bush did, way i see things.

It's NOT because he's all we've got - John McCain's always there, remember, and Palin and Olympia Snowe and Clinton - but because he IS our President. He IS, so therefore we HAVE to support him!

He's NOT all we've got... but there's a goddarn good reason why he's the President. People voted for him, so at least give him the benefit of the doubt (Hello? FIVE MONTHS? 150 days?!) before you cast such a harsh judgment as I've seen in the OP!

Now, tell me, anything weak about that?

His closing down Gitmo His withdrawal from Iraq by 2011 as promised in primaries His stimulus package (which you folk blame he for implementing but we support) His focus put back on Afghanistan and the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. His exposure and public acknowledgement of the unconstitutional torture that has been going on in the military. His lifting on restrictions regarding stemcells
he hasn't closed gitmo. he hasn't got us out of Iraq .it is 2009 not 2011 .if his stimulus has helped America I would like you to prove how. our focus was on Afganistan and OBL when Bush was in office .your use of the word torture is subjective at best ,and stem cell research will not IMHO be advanced in any meaningful way by the restrictions he lifted.I would say that's 0 for Obama helps America

Um, precisely.

it's 2009, as in 6 months after Dec 2008 when he was elected.

If in 2011 all those hasn't happened - go for it.

I applaud you for this post.

Right now... you're hilarious.

We'll see about that.

Read anything about the GOP losing its power and appeal lately?
