Obama tells AMA 'America may go the way of GM'

www.cnn.com
CNN) -- President Obama told the American Medical Association on Monday that rising health care costs could force the United States to follow in the footsteps of a bankrupt automaker.

"If we do not fix our health care system, America may go the way of GM -- paying more, getting less and going broke," Obama told the AMA's 158th annual meeting.

The AMA agrees with Obama on the need for health care reforms but has reservations about the creation of a "public option" paid for by the government to ensure coverage for the 46 million uninsured Americans.

If America is going to go the way of GM, its going to be because Obama and gang can't keep their hand out of the cookie jar.

No GM was doing fine until the Credit Freeze...this is entirely false. Toyota posted a 10.2 billion dollar loss in the first quarter of 2009 as well because of the Credit Freeze and has had to downsize their sales projections by 1,000,000 units this year as a result.

Toyota and Honda are both struggling out of staying out of bankruptcy too and GM and Ford have 5 of the 10 most popular selling vehicles in America with Japan, Germany and Korea splitting the other 5.

When a company like General Motors who is the second largest employer in the United States with Wal-Mart being in the lead, and a company that has more employees than the U.S. Government finds it's revenues off by 58% because purchasers can no longer obtain loans from banks even though the banks have been given trillions of dollars in taxpayer money to do just that, it's going to cause bankrupting havoc, so to of course will ignorant consumers who fall for overseas marketing ploys and rhetoric and don't actually study relevant facts in a scientific way on the products manufactured in their own nation as they contribute to the bankrupting of their own economy by sending their dollars overseas for purchases of items manufactured and readily available here in the U.S.

This man is no more or less a traitor than the millions who voted for him.

If we are to shame him, then we are shaming them as well. He ran on the promise of change, he said and reinterated time and again that together we were going to remake America. There was no false advertising.

The core of the problem was that such a monumental failure evolved in the previous administration that many Americans were so eager for change that they would have voted for the devil himself to get it.

Hindsight is 20/20

The problem is that we cannot afford to wast time on looking back, America, indeed, Americans need to be looking forward and prepare themselves to make sure that in the future there is sufficient balance of power in the government to prevent extreme policies and agendas from arbitrarily controlling the nation, economy and people.

In the end, the American people will only have themselves to blame.

Many of the people who voted for him did so simply based on his charisma and vague promises that neither they the voters had any desire to require him to expound upon to make less vague or he had any desire to expound upon to make less vague.

Still as this continued press for an increasingly fascist state continues Americans should not be bound by the bad choice they made in placing such trust in such a disengenuous and unqualified man.

He should simply be removed from office either through impeachment or other means if he sees the only remedy of letting America fall completely or making it a completely fascist state.

Obama instilled the fear of disaster into his followers and even hit the campaign trail to push his stimulus rhetoric. Obama soon revealed the duplicity of his rhetoric and the arrogance of his character when he took off on a pricey Valentine’s Day vacation in Chicago for the weekend instead of signing the stimulus bill that he said needed to be passed as soon as possible to avert an irreversible economic meltdown.

Now he wants to destroy our health care industry and many of the jobs associated with it. Keep your eyes on the low hanging fruit in the industry. If this plan to nationalize health care happens, this low hanging fruit will be the first to go.

I am referring to therapeutic services which are currently covered by insurance and will be the first to go under a new plan. Physical, Occupational, Speech and Psychological therapies will take the initial hit. The bureaucrats will inevitably save money by deeming the majority of these treatments as unnecessary.

There is a far greater danger to socialized medicine in that while in theory every has access what do they have access too.

People from Canada, France, England, and many other countries that have socialized medicine often travel far and at great personal cost to the United States of America to see cutting edge specialists that primarily only practice here in the United States because the United States rewards them the greatest for their skills and knowledge by letting them set the prices for their services and letting them choose who they see.

The overall quality and innovation of medicine degrades when it is socialized and worse still even if you have the money or the means to ensure your survival through the best of care, such a system is no longer locally and internally available to you.

Worst yet is if the government simply wants you to die for lack of care, they can just deny care to anyone whose reached a certain age, level of health or political mindset, or physical productivity that makes that individual's continued survival no longer appealing to the state.

America offers the most expensive health care in the world.

America offers the widest range and the best possible health care in the world to those that can afford it.

People with minor accidents and aches and pains will no longer have to foot the bill for their own care.

People with major accidents and complicated situations who can afford to fit the bill will no longer have access to premium care.

The government will have access to what has always been confidential information between you and your physicians and doctors.

The government will further tax the citizen under a heavier and heavier yoke of oppressive taxes to accomplish this.

There is already socialized medicine for the poor and disabled it's called medicare.

There is already a public health trust in each state and county to aide in caring for the indigent.

Charity picks up the tab for some of it, Medical universities who utilize indegent patients to help train future doctors pay for the rest of it and a small portion is picked up by tax payers.

This is not about giving better quality or more care, this is about government control and power and the deepening economic servitude of the tax payer.

Businesses not citizens should pay taxes to fund the infrastructure that makes commerce work.

Business should help with the cost of medical care for the workers that enable them to make money.

Once upon a time they did through Unions before businesses who want to always maximize their profits at everyone even the consumer's and nation's expense led a war on them and the government always intent on growing bigger and more costlier through taxation drove businesses to seek cheaper labor and materials in foreign markets.

All this does is make the rich richer, and the poor pooer, while most everyone else walks away with less and gets less than every before.

I couldn't agree with you more!

I have been insured at times and uninsured at times.

For the most part there is no net gain in having insurance between the premiums and the detuctables you are for the most part gambing that you will have a catostrophic illness one day and further than the insurance will in fact cover it if you do.

Whether insured or not I manage to pay for a doctor's visit when I really need to visit a doctor.

Medicare and Medicaid is riddled with fraud as it is, and that's a lot of what drives up the health costs of government.

Government could cut spending in other areas like 10 million here to study a minnow that lives underneath the hoover dam and 25 million there for a bridge to nowhere to balance out the books but the patronage the politicians earns in awarding such frivolous things makes that undesirable to them.

It's another sad day for democracy.

Exactly, do we really want these people in charge of what keeps us alive? I sure as heck don't.
