An official reprimand has been handed down on six US military senior officers for their involvement with the recent abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib near Baghdad. The public outcry at the events caused military officials to move swiftly in investigating the situation and punishing the offenders.

Six other soldiers are being criminally investigated for their roles in the events and are expected to face a court martial.

The details of the reprimands and the names of those they were issued to remain classified. The US has no plans to release this information.

Sounds to me like they may have it backwards. The six senior officers should be facing court martial while the others should be reprimanded. A lot of the news sounds like the soldiers were only doing what they were told.

Do you think they did this on purpose so that they could get court marshalled so that they could get out of Iraq.

This is an intresting idea. I guess some people get over there and its not what they "signed" up for.

I still think it is odd the the contractor thay excaped only had to run a 1/2 mile to get to US troops, and wants to stay.
