As a Canadian who owns property and business in the United States, this could be very bad for me.

Now granted I do provide more than your average health-care plan free to all my employees, they have the option of buying into a more how would I say it "prestigious" plan for pennies on the dollar.

Obama's new tax deductions and the forcing of business to shell out more for healthcare will probably mean I have to give more money away, while at the same time, not providing an equal ammount of coverage to all my employees.

In the end this costs me more, and doesn't help any of my staff.

A sad, sad policy.

NOOOOOO!!!! Not a reduction in tax deductions available to the wealthy!

Seriously though, I have no problem with the government raising taxes on the wealthiest people in our society to provide healthcare for the most needy.

This is the biggest fallacy of all. Rich people already pay like 90% of income taxes, they also provide the vast majority of jobs, health care etc. Let’s say I make 1 million a year and I provide income to 50 families. First I get taxed 370k and I drive the same roads as you do, but I also do vastly more for the country by providing a life for 50 families.

The big fallacy of the democrats and a big part of their platform is to create a picture of the “evil rich”. They do this to get the majority to vote for them, but the evil rich is why many of us have a good life. We need them and they don’t need us….

So even if we taxed them 90% of their pay it would not fix our problems that Obama is so eager to get us into to, because there is just not enough rich to pay for it. Right now “Obama Rich” is 250k in a few years that might be 100k.

So you don't have a problem with me already paying 360k in taxes and then maybe pay a lot more? How about if I just quit and put 50 families out of work and retire now...??

How much taxes do you pay to justify your statement?

Oh booohooo!

The rich are just going to have to come to terms with the fact that they might have to pay just a little more in taxes so that poor people can see a doctor.

Keep stealing from the rich and they'll stop producing.
Then we all will be hurting.
We don't have a right to their money.
They earned it. They keep it.

You keep living in your fantasy world. You are one of the people that are going to get a hard backhand slap of reality.

The people are going to revolt soon enough, not that I want them too, but people like you are pushing them into a corner. When the bond market falls out and we are facing 30 - 40% U-6 unemployment, and when the pay Czar start getting his grubby little hands into private business and start trying to tell what owners of companies can make your going to see SHTF.

Somebody put it very clearly earlier in the thread, Atlas will shrug. The rich are going to close up their businesses and stop working putting people out of jobs, even more corporations are going to leave to operate oversea's.

It ain't going to work. So keep living in your fantasy world and I don't want to hear any complaints from you about how you end up even poorer than you are, assuming you are poor.

You are just left to die because the cost/benefit ratio would put you out of the "productive' category.

-joy-

That almost sounds like Hitlers"useless eaters" catagory doesn't it? They need to be really careful with wording. Letting people who are non-productive die, would wipe most of the Government out!!!

I wonder where are all the Obamatrons that were screaming on ATS how Obama was going to make things all better once he was elected.

How does that crow taste??

Ethical government my ass! How about these apples:

www.pantagraph.com...

And everyone bitched and moaned about Bush and his buddies making money off the war and oil. Obama and his buddies will be making it off healthcare reform and cap and trade.

Oh come on with that, stealing... Its not stealing when we pay our taxes.

The whole concept that people will stop producing is a logical fallacy, because someone
else will step in and take the place on the alleged rich quitters holdings.

At the same time is it stealing when the rich, dictate a 200% increase in a basic necessity? gas... cough... BS... gas

How about paying $30,000 a month for 60 pills as my father does for one prescription?

Is it stealing when that same pill is available for a couple hundred in some near by countries?

In the end our system is pliable and the populace has the option to effect it will, including taxation via federal action.

Anyhow you will all see stealing, just wait when you or a loved one gets very ill as it is a matter of time. You will get the fine experience of being fleeced and fighting for the most basic of modern care.

Like I said it is a matter of time and I would prefer that all of your lives are not ruined because of what I have witness a few times in a few years.

You and I are the producers - with out the drones a hive ceases to buzz and will soon die. Trickle down has been the norm for 30 years and we are here

BTW John Gault is in Bermuda living the good life

I will shrug personally...

But I might send some goods to the "REVOLUTIONARIES" families after they are hung for treason.

Just wait to see the doc bills you will see in your lifetime... Will you be as detached
as your ideology? Well you will see in time, start saving your pennies now cause it's a great experience and remember, they don't except arms or legs for payment

And where did I say that, pray tell? Or are you just making up stuff hoping Obama's campaign promises get nullified? I say you should pour yourself another tall glass of ice cold Kool Aid to pass the time with your fingers and toes crossed, because it's not gonna work, chap.

I've seen a few posts here where they somehow think the "rich" are just going to have to pay more.

But what if Obama goes to 150K a year, or 100K a year.

Is that still rich? How about 50K a year?

Lets get them all! Curse all those people who wanted a better life for themselves and their families! Damn them for working 80, 90, 100 hours a week to develop a business! I hate those people who went to college to get a better paying job so that they could do well in life!
Oh, can I get a job with this Administration now?
I can be like Tim Geitner and CHEAT on MY taxes too!

How much is enough? How much more do the "rich" have to pay? Are we going to let Obama's pay czar decide?
I love the idea of a flat tax. But it will never happen. We now live in a society that punishes the successful. Rewards the lazy and inept.

sometimes the news just makes me want to barf. . . . . . . .

Unfortunately, that's the thinking of a lot of people in America. They don't want to have to work for anything, want the government to give them handouts, and they want the government to take from those that did work hard to get where they are at.

When in the hell did this happen?

I mean, there had to be a starting point where the rich became the bad guys and personal responsibility became things our grandfathers talked about.

When did socialism become vogue? When did the people in this country become beggars, takers, whiners, losers?
When did all of that become ok? The norm?
I try every day to teach my kids about the value of hard work, and of the rewards.
But now we have a stinking society that rewards failure!

I don't understand.

I think Obamas kept his word - he isn't going to raise any of your taxes, "not your income tax, your capital gains tax, etc" just like he said.

Instead he's going to create a whole new range of taxes just like we have in the UK.

How about a Value Added Tax of 15% to 20% on everything that you buy - that would raise money!

How about a council tax (used to be called the poll tax) where you get to pay more money depending on how much your house is worth.

Or how about the "nice view" tax they wanted to introduce here, where govt snoopers come to your house & check out how nice the view is - and the better your view the more you pay.

Or the dustbin tax where they put microchips in the garbage bins and you get to pay depending on how much garbage you dispose of.

Or you get to pay hefty fines of £1000 if you accidentally put your tin cans in the paper & cardboard garbage bin.

Or what about good old carbon credits - they create a whole new market with units that didn't exist before so that you can pay for them.

Or the HIPS packs where you have to pay for an energy efficiency report before you can sell your house.

etc, etc, etc.

That's obvious. . .

They (congress, senate) are already talking about it

How about a council tax (used to be called the poll tax) where you get to pay more money depending on how much your house is worth.

Property taxes over here. They are already rising, even though property values are decreasing

Or how about the "nice view" tax they wanted to introduce here, where govt snoopers come to your house & check out how nice the view is - and the better your view the more you pay.

See above for property taxes

Or the dustbin tax where they put microchips in the garbage bins and you get to pay depending on how much garbage you dispose of.

We already have that based on how MANYdustbins we use, curbside

Or you get to pay hefty fines of £1000 if you accidentally put your tin cans in the paper & cardboard garbage bin.

They just put that into effect in San Francisco

Or what about good old carbon credits - they create a whole new market with units that didn't exist before so that you can pay for them.

Cap In Trade, it's what they're discussing right now in DC

Seems like we have more in common than we thought. Just wait, they'll probably try a 'corination' of Obama next. . .

They must have teams of people sat around trying to come up with mre & more cunning &devious methods to relieve us of our money.

I've heard Gordon Browns new plan is that you give him your salary every month & if you're a good boy he'll give you some pocket money.

At least thats what it feels like!
