A flesh eating disease has taken the life of one person in Canada on Friday, another person is in serious condition. The disease is known as
necrotizing fasciitis. It consumes flesh and can lead to amputation or sometimes death.

The only link found between the two infected individuals so far is that they were both treated at St. Joseph's hospital in Saint John last week.
There are five others under being treated with antibiotics as a preventive measure.
Officials don't know the source of the current infections.
When the condition spreads into the muscle tissue, it is called necrotizing myositis. Death can occur within 12 to 24 hours of infection.
The patient who died Friday passed away less than a day after they had started to receive treatment.
There have been other incidents of this disease in Canada. Just last year, two persons died within day of each other in separate incidents.
I did some research on necrotising fasciitis and it's listed as one of the dangers of IV drug users. Four years ago, in the UK, 18 drug users were
killed by necrotising fasciitis after contaminated heroin began circulating in the city. It seems as though there are some new deaths there being
attributed to this.
