So true!

It makes you wonder if anyone actually watches Craig Ferguson, the guy who comes on after him. I love Craig, but he says a LOT more sexually oriented things in one night than Dave does in a week.

Edit to add: I know that teen pregnancy is a lot more than just "keep your legs shut." I was fed abstinence-only crap when I was in school (I graduated in 2008), and it didn't work for most of the 2200 kids in my school. I also know that it takes two to tango, so to speak, so its not 100% a problem for females.

Yeah, the problem is that you can't joke about fourteen year olds dancing the horizontal mambo with Religious Conservatives...

OMG! 14 year olds can have the sex!

This can't be funny. I mean, the irony of both Palin's daughter's getting an illegitimate bun bump isn't funny in the least or doesn't prod at her parenting.... or even that Alaska has a rather high incident of Teen Pregnancy.

But then I'm Alaskan, and I find the joke funny if not riotously accurate, even if it was a mis-statement meant for Bristol.

Oh, and also, Moralists should shut the hell up about jokes involving sex, you vanilla missionary-position wingbats.

Wouldnt happen. The liberals arent near as defensive about things,
and the Obamas have alot more class!
Once again, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree here. Um, ya.
Palin asked for it when she chose politics.
The daughter with the nascar name asked for it when she played doctor.
If letterman made a joke about my daughter, that would just mean I'm famous! I dont have any kids. Subject more of them to this world?
Now thats funny! Hahahahahah
Once again, wouldn't happen. Sorry professor.
More than not I agree with you, but not this time.
It was just a joke for cryin out loud, a poor tasteless one but
a joke nonetheless.
Good to see you still kickin' around on here!
I suppose the thread is done for now anyway.
Let the partisan games begin....

Probably not, because then it wouldn't be insulting or funny, it would just be plain weird. Neither of Obama's kids are abstinence-only-educated single teenage mothers. It would just be confusing.

This is just another proof of how sick and immoral the liberal left is when it comes to Hollywood and the "entertainment" (not) field.

Ah, morals. The right is so quick to throw that word around, you'd think they have some. Tell me, Mr. Conservative, what's worse? Having someone not involved in running the country telling a flop joke on a late-night TV show, or having the man placed in charge of defending it authorizing sexual humiliation on guilty-until-proven-innocent foreigners? Yeah, it's the left who's causing all this moral degradation, I'm sure of it.

Right. Rage on about decency all you want, but how many democrats have been involved in gay sex scandals with teenage boys? Just because you say you have moral superiority doesn't mean you actually have it.

How many of the people defending this sick pervert would still defend him if it were THEIR daughter that he made the joke about?

Tell me again what classifies him as a pervert? It was a damn joke. He's a comedian, not a child molester.

I can't believe this thread is still going. What is it with you right-wing nuts?
Letterman has already admitted he thought it was her 18 year old daughter she was at the game with, but you guys are still harping on about it? Don't want to let the truth get in the way of your righteous indignation?

He made a mistake - can any of you honestly say you've never made a mistake?

Let's have a theorectical look at how it may have happened...

(In the writer's room)

Dave: So, what's in the news then?

Writer 1: Sarah Palin was at the game with her daughter...

Dave: Oh really?

Writer 2: Hey...let's say she got knocked up again...by Alex Rodriguez!

(all laugh)

Dave: Great, we'll use it. Next joke please!

The guy isn't CNN or MSNBC, he doesn't have to check his facts. I'd say that makes him more like FOX so I'm surprised you guys don't love every word he says!

Common decency is what's missing with Letterman. The excuse that he "didn't know" that Willow was at the game is BS and just his way of wiggling out of his trash mouth. He is nothing more than a 62 year old pervert that probably needs a bottle of Viagra before he can attempt to rape any of his fetishes.

Well you just called him an impotent old pervert rapist based on absolutely nothing - where's your common decency? Plus the fact that the joke itself makes it bleeding obvious he meant the other daughter - it doesn't make any sense otherwise. The guy has been doing this a long time, I think he'll know by now that making sexually oriented jokes about minors may be detrimental to his career.

Right. Rage on about decency all you want, but how many democrats have been involved in gay sex scandals with teenage boys?

You need look no further than Barney Frank to find that answer.

Why would a Letterman joke(of no taste) make you wish anything bad on a state? Have you not noticed how bad TN is doing? It was a 'right' state in the election.

Those were right wing rumors far as I know. Any legitimate source to back that up? Mark Foley and people within the Reagan administration were certainly screwing or trying to screw underage males. I think the point here was the hypocrisy of the right (the anti-gay morally superior right), not the actual details of the scandals.

BTW, I know this is totally off topic, I await a scolding.

but imus can lose his job

Imus lost his job because he repeatedly said racist and homophobic things. I agree with the man's freedom of speech, but good grief, stop making him a martyr. His bosses had every right to terminate him.

The show's routines sometimes contained derogatory epithets for homosexuals, including "faggot" or "lesbo" and various terms describing homosexuality.tompaine.com...

On a December 15, 2004, show, Imus referred to publishers Simon & Schuster (under same ownership as CBS Radio) as "thieving Jews," and later in the show issued a mock apology, saying the phrase was "redundant." In October 1998, he described media critic Howard Kurtz as "that boner-nosed . . . beanie-wearing little Jew boy".www.fair.org...

Imus has also repeatedly referred to Arabs as "ragheads".www.annoy.com...

It is very sad, that the left and the right hate each other so much now it has come to this.

I never understood why they hated her so much,

I have never understood it either. Sarah Palin and her family seem like one of the most down-to-earth, average American families that we have witnessed in both politics, and all over the mainstream media, in a long time. I honestly feel that I can not only relate towards Palin and her family, but when I watch them, and understand their successes, trials, and tribulations, it feels as though that could be any of us in their position at that very moment.

I honestly get a feeling of sincerity and warmth from Governor Palin, which seems all too uncommon now-a-days in regards to media exposed personalities. Could this be the reason behind the bashing of her so often? Are people somewhat guarded and afraid of witnessing an Average American family rise to the top?

I truly feel that this issue transcends politics, because in all honesty, I can never remember a time before now when an entire family has been the attempted target of every insult, thrashing, and scathing rant. This is beyond ludicrous, it is beyond abhorrent, as it has in fact become an unleashed vendetta of sick minded individuals, wherein we have finally begun to witness the true personalities of those towards whom we used to feel respect, and even admiration.

Over the past year, during the 2008 Presidential Campaign Season, I have actually gained respect for a few well known spotlight dwelling personalities, but at the same time, I have lost a tremendous amount of respect for oh SO many more.

Wow that was out of left field........... Must be a Leno fan still bent about the change-up.
It was just a joke and nothing more. Some people need to grow thicker skin.
And yes Letterman beat Conan in ratings that night, thanks to Howard Stern.
Dare I say Baba Boey!!!
