AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Lou Pritchett is a former vice president of Procter & Gamble whose career at that company spanned 36 years before his retirement in 1989, and he is the author of the 1995 business book, Stop Paddling & Start Rocking the Boat.

Mr. Pritchett confirmed that he was indeed the author of the much-circulated "open letter." “I did write the 'you scare me' letter. I sent it to the NY Times but they never acknowledged or published it. However, it hit the internet and according to the ‘experts’ has had over 500,000 hits.

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

Please see the rest of this very telling letter at the above link......

Do not know if anyone is familar with this or not. I just received it in a email today & felt it was worthy enough to send to my list of contacts and thought I woiuld post it here.

Lou Pritchett really hits the nail on the head as far as the current course of our government goes. I wonder if he is on any list out there for his comments??

Did you even READ what it said?!?!?!? Please look at the content instead of berating the author! Thanks....

Most of those are valid points to be considered, but I highly doubt any one from Proctor and Gamble wrote it.

This corporation has been fighting satanic church claims for over 20 years, and they have been proven false over and over again. They even got a court decision against Amway, but it did no good.

I would suspect this is another attempt to sully their name............

But, that seems immaterial in light of the letter. Most (not all) of the points are still valid and worth consideration by all.

It's not how it was written , but the content inside the writing......

These things should scare everybody...........Somebody is going to come along after our whole country goes to # and be the opposite of Obama and start promising a better life and because of him and the experiences we have with him as our current president, it will scare us away from a potentialy great candidate to help turn this mess around....

I think it is hinted at in the bible a bit but I'm not really religious and don't read it so I could be wrong. And by hinting I mean things that relate to a current situation of ours ...Not saying they mention American Presidents.........

But yea I found the letter to be a nice quick read.....Serves as a catalyst for thinking about how things should be and how they really are...

We will be dumbfounded in a couple years.....just completely awstruck an the signs will have been present to warn us for over 4 years now.

Well, according to Snopes.com, this is a real letter written by this man & send to The NY Times. It was never printed, though. Gee, I wonder why??

My reason for posting it is not because of who wrote it but because of the content - which I feel has very valid points.

I really fear where this country is heading more and more each day......

Everything in this letter is true and worried many of us before the election. it's starting to worry others now that they see this lack of knowledge in action. what with nationalizing industries and appointing czars of kingdoms that are answerable only to him, he's acting like a 5th grader with access to the liquor cabinet: whee! look at me! He's drunk with power and celebrity and has not enough introspection to see how much and how quickly he is damaging the country. or maybe that's what he intended all the time. in spite of his golden words, he seems to care nothing for actual people, only for voting blocks of supporters.

i think even the people who voted for him are getting scared.

I did not read the original "open letter" nor did I know it existed, busy living life.

Interesting read...it seems most of the Americans/Texans I know feel the same and see America heading in the wrong direction very quickly, not to say we haven't been for some time!

TPTB will not change the course they have set for us, something very dramatic and earth changing will only help us change course, my perpective only!

I do enjoy seeing people getting involved and voicing their oppossing view, causing others to take a stand, like this thread!

Enjoy!

Ciao!!!

Doubt the credence of the story however after some research I have to agree with some of the points made. Obama seems to have been groomed for the role and it seems the biggest trick of the 21st Century has been to convince the American public that he was a viable candidate. If you think about it, it was a masterstroke from whoever is pulling the strings, lets make our candidate black, educated and to promise change, he will win the majority of the vote and anyone who questions him can be labled a racist or even worse a republican

There is some serious question marks hanging over his head, after that speech and his decisions I worry what he has up his sleeve

When did this term "Czar" become acceptable terminology in a democratic government anyway?!? When I was in school, this term was for historical Russian figures. There were certainly no czars in the US.

With a Bilderberg cabinet and treasury, and a healthy team of czars reporting directly to him, have we already lost control? Nationalization of banks and industries, appointed officials in charge of many governmental entities, Congress afraid to vote down any of his proposals?

It is getting scary for sure, and I voted for him!

lots of people are questioning the use of that word czar! apparently it's to indicate that they are at the very top of their piece of the game, answerable to no one but obama. it seems like such a strange word to use and he has given them each a big piece of the economy to rule, complete with their own bureaucracy. I don't know where their funding comes from congress didn't pass off on it, not that they would have hesitated because they rubber stamp everything he wants because we are in Crisis Mode.

The longer this goes on the harder it will be to fix. seems like legislative branch and executive branch have gone over the edge. at the moment the judicial branch is at least looking at the constitutionality of obama rearranging the bankruptcy rules in the Chrysler deal. if they okay it, putting the bondholders at the bottom of who gets what and UAW at the top, then they too will have gone over the edge.

as americans, we have no clue how to get our country back. there's talk of getting your guns and get going, but what would that accomplish? it would only justify martial law and all sorts of repressive things.

the irony of course is that europe had already moved far to the left, discovered it doesn't work, trying to move right, while we are moving as fast as possible to the left as far as we can. go figure that.

David Rockefeller openly thanked the new york times, and other large publications years ago for keeping their knowledge confidential.

Why do you think they bought so many large news papers?

+Want to shut down the internet and move to internet 2, because thinking and freedom of speech, and vigilance is in direct opposition to their one world government goal.

It came back as true.

I've had good success using Snopes.com to determine whether or not you're dealing with an urban legend or not.

Allow me to sum it up.

"You scare me because you're brown and a Democrat"

see how easy that was? Hell, it can even be boiled down further; "You scare me because I fear people who aren't just like me"

Lots of words to get to a very simple point.

Well, in four years, of all these fears are worthwhile, I'm sure that we'll get that President Palin this guy was hoping for.

oh please. that retort worked well a year ago. it even passed muster 6 months ago. but now it's just plain silly. this isn't a matter of color or party. our constitution has been shredded, the press is cheering it on, our country is disastrously in debt as well as in a depression, and the economy is being reshaped by unelected, unaccountable czars who get to set the rules while the president endlessly criticizes and apologizes for US wherever he goes. your brown liberal guy is mocking us while making an ever bigger mess of things.

Interesting letter.

I think people need to accept that Obama has alot to do with end time prophecy and so did Bush.

Bush set up Obama perfectly and I think Bush knew exactly what he was doing. He was preparing the way for Obama and notice that people treat Obama like a Messiah. He's a false Messiah and things are just going to get worse.

Powerful people supported Obama and his family and no one asked why before he was elected President.

Yes, I'm certain you would be just as upset by a John McCain presidency, and were just up in arms when it was Dubya. Right?

Now, brushing your defensive yapping aside, you may notice I was not speaking of you (though, give me enough ammo and I certainly can.) I was talking about hte guy from Proctor and Gamble who wrote this piece of propaganda.

Yes, propaganda. That's the whole point of the "open letter" format is to present thing as fact that may not be fact, to a large body of people, in the guise of "speaking truth to power." I'm sure there's a proper name for this sort of logical fallicy, but I'll be damned if I know just what it is.

every point in this "letter" whines about Obama not being exactly like the author. It's xenophobia, plain and simple. It's presented with a nice handfull of dog whistle words to catch your attention. Being phrased as questions, the statements within can be denied as accusative by the author, while still lodging the propaganda into the mind of the reader.

Now you strike me as someone who slurps down propaganda the way Paris Hilton slurps down body-temperature milkshakes. So very likely you don't even notice what's being done to your poor brain. Let me show you.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you. - It's been three years, actually. The guy also has two books. Numerous other books have been written about him. News articles abound. Interviews plaster the media. We know less about George Washington than we do about Barack Obama. Hell, I bet any day now Drudge will break the news on the scandal that Obama squeezes from the middle of the tube or something. If mr. Pritchett (or anyone else) really claims to not know anything about the guy, it's their own damn fault for choosing to remain ignorant.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American. - You know, I've been waiting for over ten years for a conservative to define exactly what they mean by "American culture". What I've found is that, for most of them, it means "white". Now, I'm sure there are plenty who disagree with that, and have another definition, but, let's be honest here, Mr. Pritchett wouldn't be applying this criteria to Sarah Palin, despite the culture in Wasilla being mostly meth and inbreeding. Nor would he be assailing McCain for his formative years in Panama. or the several years of psychological damage as a PoW. It's pretty much just Obama, and the only reason is because he's brown and has a funny name.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll. - I get the feeling g here that Mr. Pritchett thinks the government should be run like a business. I'll be frank; No, it shouldn't. A business' entire point is to profit the people at the top by fleecing the consumer as much as possible without getting into too much trouble. No, thank you.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core. - Well, good to know that mr. Pritchett would have picked John Kerry over George Bush, at least. Oh. Hmm. Wait... Now, here's the thing. The United States is not a military junta, despite some fervent wishes from certain corners. The military experience of the president is thus pretty damn irrelevant to anything. You see, a lot of people who are going to be aiming for the presidency in years to come will also have never been in the military, much less a war. Interestingly lots of other nations manage to do fine with nonmilitary heads of state, as well.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others. - Translation? "You're an uppity negro, but still just a negro. get a job" - I come to this conclusion because damn, if there's one thing Obama has, it's humility. He's also stepped up to take the blame for a lot of crap. Either Mr. Pritchett missed the bus on this one or, more likely, he has his standards set to "1965 Selma"

Those parts were supposed to scare you with Obama's "differentness" - He's a mystery! He got rich off affirmative action! He doesn't run a business like you and I! He doesn't "get" the military! He's not an American! He's Uppity!

Now we're going to look at appeals to the reader's nationalism

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail. - Well, who? it can't be the much-drubbed Bill Ayers and Rev. Wright, since Obama has repudiated both (and quite unnecessarily, IMO). So who does that leave? Well... Since those two don't count (and really, a vandal, and a Liberation preacher aren't exactly who I would call "dangerous"...) he answer is nobody. There's nobody that fits the bill. But by making this statement, mr. Pritchett hopes you will just blindly accept it as true.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad. - Ah, the good ol' appeal to the reader's nationalism - "My country is always right!" Well, hate to break it to you, but no, the United States is frequently wrong. In fact, we're kind of a dick to the rest of the world. This causes problems, to say the least. Now perhaps Mr. Prichett and his fans here don't like that, but it's the absolute truth. We need a leader with some PR capability. We have one. You'll be better off for it.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector. - Somehow, "Europe" is bad. Perhaps because it doesn't allow corporations like Proctor & Gamble to spew toxic crap all over the landscape while abusing employees. In fact that does seem to be the big problem. Fact is, in Europe, the private sector is still quite dominant. The government butts in when it comes to making sure people aren't dropping dead of treatable disease, starvation, or the like. And that's why Europe is satanic.

From there we go into "OMG LEFTIST SOCIALIST FRENCH COMMIE TREEHUGGER!" stuff...

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one. - blatant lie, folks. Obama wants to create a government health care program. Not "replace" the current health care system. I think this is rather nice of him, as I personally think insurers should face firing squads. But what this means is that the government will be offering heath care to those who could not otherwise afford it - again, obviously satanic - And if the care is good enough, the Insurance companies might have to compete with it. You know, offer better services at lower costs, instead of their current model of "offer nothing at exorbitant, exponential rates."

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves. - Well, yeah. Because all three are limited resources that will only help us in the short run. Coal is absolutely filthy, shale takes more energy to process than you can get out of it, and, well, we don't actually have any proven oil reserves. Just lots and lots of leased land the il companies haven't found squat in. I know it's a hell of a thought, diversifying our energy sources, isn't it? Because everyone knows that the fewer options we have, the better off we are - Just ask anyone who was around during the OPEC oil embargo!

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world. - Ah, the disconnect of being a filthy-rich mofo in a nation he sees only as his personal wallet. The United States does not have the highest standard of living in the world. Norway actually has the highest standard of living in the world (it was Iceland before their market crash). Is the US second? No, Sweden is. Third? Canada. The United States does not even enter the top ten nations with the highest living standard. Japan beats us by a mile. So... If the "american capitalist goose that lays a golden egg" is responsible for our standard of living, I say string that sucker up for Christmas.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations. - Such as demanding accountability and returns on the government loans given them?

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals. - Well, again, more ignorance. If there's one thing the Democrats aren't it's a united front. That said... Why would htye oppose this spending, given that unlike a certain other someone who will not be named, that money is being injected straight into the American economy, rather than being shipped overseas in multi-billion dollar pallets of small bills that mysteriously disappear?

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people. - Presumably Mr. Pritchett includes himself here. Presumablu, his definition of "intelligent" is pretty screwed up. He may have also notice all the cabinet positions obama handed to people who disagree with him, for the direct purpose of having them use their brains to challenge him and keep him on the right track.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient. Do what?
