Up to 100 dead in Amazon clashes: activist

www.abc.net.au

Twenty-two-year-old Ben Powless is working alongside Peru's national organisation of Amazon Indigenous people, AIDESEP, and fears more lives will be lost, with the government now labelling protesters as "terrorists". Many Peruvians - not just Indigenous - are upset by plans to open land in Peru's Amazon region to oil, gas and mineral exploration, even though much of the land is officially protected.

The Government has recently signed a number of free trade agreements with the United States and Canada, seeking to change domestic laws and encourage foreign investment in the Amazon.

This is a continuing tragedy, and I hope the world pays notice and shows their support for these beautiful indigenous people.

The peruvian tribes and their shamans are some of the last true indigenous tribes which live in complete harmony within their environment and are highly spiritual people, and they are fighting with all they have to have their lands and culture left alone from the raping that is so prevelant by greedy corporations and their enforcing puppet government heads.

100 dead already, and now they are being labled TERRORISTS for trying to protect their land and way of life!

This is beyond sickening...

It's a tragedy that has been going on from the dawn of time... again and again indigenous peoples are conquered by invading peoples...

This is not new, and is part and parcel of the human condition...

The Sumerians did it, the Egyptians did it, The Hebrews even did it for Christ sake...

Carthage did it, the Celts did it... Rome did it... and they really did it...

Native Americans were doing it long before any European set foot on this soil...

And now it's happening in the Amazon....

Yes, it's tragic... but its the same old tragedy that has been with us for millennia..

The thing to remember about indigenous peoples... is that their spirituality is tied directly to them and their tribe.

Take the Cherokee for example, they referred to themselves as "The Real People" All of their laws which stated no killing in certain villages like Kituwah, etc, only applied to them.

You could do whatever you wanted to a member of another tribe and have no legal or spiritual responsibility.

Even the Hewbrews... look at how Joshua, led the Israelites into Jericho and EXTERMINATED every man, woman, child, donkey, chicken, you name it...

Real spiritual eh? Well in reality it is... today we think of spirituality in the terms of axial age philosophers such as Buddha... and even Jesus who came about 200 years after the Axial age had ended...

But if you study the spirituality of say the Celts and other tribes, you will find that there was no difference between the spiritual and the profane.... war and the death of your sworn enemy was as spiritual an endeavor as feeding the poor is today...

They are very spiritual, unlike those who quietly allow themselves to be enslaved and exploited without any attempt to resist.

This is the last battle on planet Earth, and after it is over, the whole planet will be evil and uninhabitable for free spirits.
