BANGKOK/LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The family of actor David Carradine has asked U.S. authorities to help unravel the mystery of his death, amid conflicting reports about how his body was found hanging naked in a Bangkok hotel.

. . . With coroners awaiting results of toxicology tests, Thai media pointed to suicide or accidental autoerotic asphyxiation as possible causes of death. Some reports have said a cord was wrapped around Carradine's genitals and others that his hands were bound behind his back. None could be confirmed

That's a truly embarrassing situation for the family. There is an alleged pic taken by Thai authorities of David Carradine that led to the believe that the actor's cause of death was autoerotic asphyxiation, e.g. Carradine was Snip a fancy style and tied the noose too tight. It happened before to some rock musician.

The family threatens to sue any media that would get its hand on the photo and publish it. Of course, the web is starved for images like that. It kind of tarnishes the image of David Carradine as a mentally well-balanced Kung Fu master Snip

The death of David Carradine is now being compared to the death of Michael Hutchence in 1997.

He also is supposed to have had a penis shrine in the hotel room. I am not quite sure what kind of person carries one of those around with them. The anecdotal evidence suggets auto-erotic asphyxiation. If it was auto-erotic asphyxiation I guess you could say he was caught 'coming and going' all at the same time.

When I was 17 I had a friend found hanging in the woods behind his house 3 days after going missing...His mother brought us kids into a back room at the funeral home and explained how it was unintentional suicide. I had never heard the term autoerotic asphyxiation prior to that.

Point is, this guy was a friend of mine, and i never let how he passed away detract from that fact. If DC had other things in the room with him, so what? No reason to slam the dude. Respect, people.

After personally seeing the picture in question.... I will admit it does offer up some speculation.

In the picture it is clear that Mr. Carradine's hands (if the photo proves to be of him, the face is blackened out) are tied above his head. Not sure in the mechanics of "auto erotic asphyxiation", but one would assume you would want your hands free to conduct the "dirty work".

At least he had a long fruitful life..

It looks like death by misadventure from what little information we have now.

Some will come out with conspiracy theories and rub out scenarios. One may even be true.

We don't know. An American actor none of us ever met is dead. It's a tragedy. We shouldn't be deriving entertainment from his unfortunate demise.

I remember when this broke,
INXS Rock, and it was a tragedy.

Media showed footage of him in the days leading up to his death with his band etc, he looked happy, energetic.

This like other accidental deaths, just shake ya day up something cronic!

Accidental? Yeah, sure, peoples heads fall into a noose accidentally every day while fondling themselves, ha, yup, sure they do, R I G H T. (lol) They guy died being a sexual deviant weirdo by sticking his head into a noose ... ain't nothing accidental about that from what I can see, and now he's laughing stock for hundreds of jokes to come. My guess is that he had someone there with him helping to get the "business" done. Things went wrong and the other person went away. I would say many do this with others involved, not everyone would like the solo action would be my guess.

I saw a copy of the newspaper that ran the photo that the family is up in arms about.

If you search heard enough on the net, you can easily find it.


Oh, and Mr. Carradine was NOT a Kung-Fu specialist as some like to believe. He always said he hated having to fake all that.

Now he was into taekwondo, but was for having better health, in his own words. Your final sentence in your post has no basis in fact.. and is not what autoerotic asphyxiation is all about.

If the photo is him (which the way the family is up in arms, appears to be) his hands are clearly tied above his head. If you ask me, he had help.. and after whatever transpired that he lost his life, his "helper" fled the scene..

The position and extent of his bindings would be hard to pull off on your own.

Are you talking an assisted suicide or a homicide? Both scenarios don't make much sense.

With another person in that room, there is a chance that Carradine was secretly gay, or tried to start being gay with all that esoteric fun in motion and something went wrong -- an accident took place, and the other person in that room didn't want to talk to the cops and split.
What do you think?

By helper I mean someone else to play in whatever games he was playing... IF it was the auto-erotica angle.

The gender in the room should not matter, does that type of thing matter to you? Sounds like it.. anyway...... But no, if anything he had an attractive woman with him, he did like the ladies very much... and they liked him.

You have to remember he was in Thailand, bangkok no less.. land of any type of companion you want or need. If his hands were tied he more than likely had someone helping with "maneuvering" of his pleasure parts when whatever transpired did happen.

Suicide, I don't think that is what this is a case of... and one of the reasons hinges on wether his hands were actually binded or not. You do not come across many if any self hangings where the individual tied their hands as well.

I think it's a tragic case of games going wrong, and thats it. But, I do not think he was alone in that room. An American movie star filming in Bangkok... everybody wants to play eventually.


-edit- The picture you have linked is NOT the photo. I will not post links because the FBI is getting involved with this case. I will say, google "David Carradine death photo" You will know it is the right one, because it is on a newspaper from Thailand. I also believe a rather poor version of the photo is on LiveLeak.
