What?

All I said was chalice, eucharist and tabarnacle... all perfectly proper words only said in French Canadian.

I have a witness, Freeborn is under my witness protection program now!

The Auld Alliance still holds true I see!:shk:

But no problem, France will not win this year, quarter finals at best.

Nice historical reference.

FYI... I've cheered for Germany, Brazil and France (among others) in past world cups. Not sure but I think it depended largely on the people I was at the bar with or the girl I was trying to impress at the time

I also love a good sports ciderella story where the underdog goes far.
.

edit: I guess that put OZ back on the list

Oh and Zazz you don't scare me ... but nikki nox hair sure does

Lol, now that I can appreciate!

If England go out then I tend to lose interest, just the way it is.

However, having had a 'saver' bet on The Netherlands at 14/1 I hope they do well and from a football point of view I have to say that on their day Spain play some fantastic football and are very good to watch, (but no value at 9/2).

Spain and the Dutch (they have major Bower support down there )
I always love it, cause my teams never got in since before France 98.
Croatia first time as a independent nation, and we came 3rd! yeeehah, Loved it

And now ofc the socceroos.

Ill defo go for Germany and Holland.

Im not a Brasil by default maniac like the rest of the world seems to be.

LOl too true! Its quite the opposite for us lasses though, their lads are quite scary looking.

The Brazil team all need to fix their teeth.

GlamRock....thought that was just breaking in Australia and Canada, lol,

And no usage of the awful pun...'Im no Brazil nut' that always seems to appear every 4 years.

Croatia?
They had a good side a few years ago and beat us twice if I remember.Despite them having a very good manager in Slaven Bilic they do seemto have gone backwards in the last couple of years.

Yay! I love watching the World Cups!- my brother and me will be glued to the screen like good old times
. Hehe

But I admit, sometimes we watch it just for different reasons when our country is not playing. My brother is just a great soccer fan, but well, for me is entertaining in differnt ways....let's say, some really hot players in other teams.

Oh well.

So my favourites to win are- 1st my country! duh!: Uruguay,

2nd Germany and
3rd Brasil.

Tim Cahill has a sore neck which is not good news as he is a prolific goal scorer for both Everton and Australia and a good % of his goals are from his noggin.
Brett Emerton is still in doubt, as is Kewell, it is incredible that Verbeek has gambled on Emerton and Kewell being fit and effective when Nicky Carle and Tommy Oar could have been chosen in his squad.
Australia are too short on pace and creativity now.
I hope and pray Iam wrong but I can see a 3 nil pasting by Germany in the Aussies opening match.
England are still not gelling and Capello is getting irate.
South Africa may indeed spring a surprise or two they are looking good.
Spain nothing much has been reported on them.
Brazil are Brazil.
The kiwis I think will do ok.
Germany are getting cocky(but that is scary not an advantage for the opposition)
Holland are looking good.
Japan are looking good.
S.Korea are looking ok
Argentina are the charismatics of the tournament under Diego Maradonna.....a certainty for the quaters?
Mexico are fragile still.
USA are definite dark horses for the quater finals.
Siberia no they will exit early.
France likewise
Italy qtr finalists
Only two sleeps to go, and its Football, drinking, Pizza time .....mmm just another month really.

Just 2 days to go now.

Spain all the way for me, especially if Torres is fit.

They may not have the best defense, but it's still pretty good, and they have by far the best midfield and front line.

Now that they seem to have got over their "travel sickness" by winning the Euro's I believe they can go all the way.

You mean Serbia - I actually think Serbia could win the group with some luck!

Good spot, must have been thinking about a warm Gulag or two?

Serbia might do it but ,I really believe Ghana and Australia will beat them.

Well i can't wait, it's going to be fun.
I have no expectations for Austraia to do anything this time so any result will be a bonus there. My wife is French so i have been following them pretty closely for the last year and it's a mess. I couold write a dissertation on their problems but i think it is more to do with Domenech and just the general attitude of the team. Who knows they may surprise, they certainly have the talent to.

Either way, lets hurry this thing up.
