It's a terrible tackle and could have broken his leg.... but he didn't show studs and it was more clumsy than malicious.... Definitely not a straight red.

Don't be so moronic to think you your little facebook group makes a difference you really think it will? Just grow up and deal with it. They are fun, people are having fun, and it IS a part of the game over there. You are just moaning for the sake of moaning.

That "little" facebook group has got 70,000 fans in 24 hours. You are ignorantly trivializing a serious issue, one which the players (who cannot hear each other on the pitch), the coaches (who cannot communicate to the players), the TV companies (who are inundated with complaints), and the viewers (who are reporting migraines, tinnitus and headaches) are ALL concerned about. Hell, even the FIFA officials themselves are now starting to seriously consider banning the instruments.

"moaning for the sake of moaning"... Gee, thanks. I'm a huge football fan, who has waited four years for this World Cup - believe me, moaning is the last thing I want to be doing.

For the sake of Football.... they MUST ban these things.
There is no atmosphere at the world cup.... and it's sad man...

No way was it a straight red card. And they got robbed of the hand ball penalty. But, Germany could have had a penalty as well plus they did score 4 good goals so you can't blame the referee totally.

Lets face it. The Aussies were a long shot to beat Germany. And it showed.

WHAT A GAME

So you think the red card was justified?

You think that there was no blatant handball in the penalty box?

Yes, you were the better side, but both those factors contributed to the final score line, and thats what I am angry about

Still very early days but that was by far the best performance so far.

Maybe Australia got their tactics wrong.
Cahill is not an out and out forward, he is better playing just behind the forward as an attacking midfielder, something he does to great effect at Everton.
And yes, it was a bad tackle by him, but I don't think it deserved a straight red.

But the 14/1 I got for Germany could well be a very good bet.

I think we got our tactics wrong to. We tried playing the offside trap and that failed pretty badly. We should have had Kewell or Kennedy up front with Tim Cahill behind. He can play stiker, but i think he wouldve been more useful in the midfield.

We pretty much have to win both games against Serbia and Ghana (and hope Ghana lose or draw to Germany) now to move on. Which is going to be hard considering Cahill was wrongly red carded, but you never know, we might just surprise everyone

You might still be ok.
Both Serbia and Ghana looked beatable, but they will be no walk over's!

And losing Cahill is a massive blow for you.

I am so apaulled !

I was up and down in Darling Harbour at 330am, and I felt like I was watching a charity match of a professional team against a seniors team.

Sigh~

Heh, the Aussie performance gives us Kiwis some hope!

Not much, however

The difference between Germany and Australia was glaringly obvious.

haven.t seen the red card - since my son was vomiting in the bathroom during most time of second half
- what a great deal for a match

and if you would have got the penalty - it wouldn.t have changed the result
germany would have won anyway

c.mon oz it was a far better game than most of the other games in this match!

Just make sure and keep putting the U.S. in the underdog category, we love it

The goal we scored was extremely lucky to be sure but England should be thanking their lucky stars that Altidore hit the post.

I'm not a full time 'Football' fan but that just might be changing. So far i've watched every game and am totally hooked. What a great sport! I wish there was more interest for it in the U.S.
