Hezbollah choice at center of Lebanon vote

edition.cnn.com

Lebanese voters went to the polls Sunday in a crucial election that will determine whether the Middle Eastern country, scarred by war and political instability, picks a coalition supported by the United States or an alliance backed by the militant group Hezbollah.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. local time (12 a.m. ET) and will stay open for 12 hours. It is the first time the parliamentary elections are taking place all in one day rather than spread out over a few weekends.

Well alot of people are saying that Israel would not put up with a Lebanon that was controlled by hezbollah.

This will be a very important event in shaping world politics. We could see this as the beginning of an Israeli upsrising and possible military action if there are any rocket attacks or agression shown towards them.

This will be an event to watch closely, we never know what can happen in that part of the world.

Thoughts?

Let’s hope Hizbullah wins

Next week we may wake up to a reality whereby Lebanon is controlled by a coalition that is dominated by Hizbullah. Seemingly, this is an Israeli nightmare. As if it isn’t enough that on our northern border there is an organization that is not controlled by the local government and is equipped by the best Iranian weapons, this underground force will now become the state’s government. Local strategists must be calculating the implication of such political situation in the event of a war erupting between Israel and Iran. After all, we can assume that under such circumstances, Lebanon would powerfully attack Israel.

- Assuming this is what Israls right wing is really wanting as result - a reason - to wage war around middle east: Syria, Iran and Lebanon... The great gamble.
