I hadn't heard about this before, seems like Google actually did something good for once.

Korea demanded that YouTube install real name verification on kr.youtube.com, so that everyone who uploaded would be identified. Luckily, YouTube seem to believe in "real and meaningful political speech", and think that "anonymitity is [...] a fundamental element".

So, they just told Korea to get lost, and just shut down the uploading and commenting on that site, _but_, people in Korea can still use the normal www.youtube.com, like everyone else!

Good news, at least for now


In the video, she mentions that Turkey decided to fully block YouTube, but even their leader realises that most of the country just works around it.
