Apparently, murder is rewarded in Russia. The man accused of Alexander Litvinenko murder in 2006 has been appointed to a posh role in the Russian parliament.

Could this be a sign of former President, now Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's administration had sanctioned the hit with government approval? This is a very interesting development in the Litvinenko murder.

Litvinenko was a staunch critic of former Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin's policies.

The issue with Lugovoi is that all of the Western attention and British accusations against him gave the man more publicity than he could ever hope for. As far as Russians were concerned this was positive publicity, and he rose from being virtually a nobody to a hero of sorts. If not for publicity from the West he would still be running small errands or doing whatever it is he was doing 2 years ago.

As for him being Litvinenko's murder - who knows. There is no way of finding out the truth now, not that there ever was. Russia has good reasons for deny the British continued investigation of Lugovoi. After all Britain shelters a number of Russian expatriates who are wanted by Russia for a series of crimes, ranging from polticical conspiracy and treason to terrorism.

So thanks to Britain for making Lugovoi a high-profile figure. Any publicity is good publicity.
