It's crazy! It seems everybody is completely oblivious to what the real main issue is and that is the economy.

Obama will only be a one term president, if we even get there. Enough people have already turned their back on him. He barely squeaked by to win this one 7% of conservative voters did not turn out in 2008.

That is 7% of people who didn't like any of the presidential candidates. That number is probably more around 14% now. The polls don't mean jack. And Obama's average is 59.7% approval. Here is my source for that. I like using the average of the polls because I feel it give a more accurate reading.

Poll Average

God forbid another terrorist attack happens here too. Bush wore out the keeping us safe mantra, a terrorist attack, false flag or otherwise, people will turn against this government in mass. The political climate is so volitile right now its ridiculous.

It's clear even people that are on this site that claim to be "awake" are just as much asleep as the people they bash for being asleep.

Where has Obama socialized any part of our society.

The federal gov't now owns 60% of GM. If that isn't socialism, I don't know what is.

There was once a popular saying: "As GM goes, so goes the nation". Unfortunately, that will be true as long as Obama is in power.

I think you are mixing up the saying..it was orginally "As Iowa goes, so goes the nation."

again as others have stated you are disillusioned and uninformed, this world president you worship is from the most corrupt state for politics in our country, has the most hateful, radical, and greed driven bunch of friends ever assembled, and will stop at nothing to push his EVIL agenda which will eventually roll down on the rest of the world. so before YOU come to this forum spouting your neo-con hate BS, i suggest you educate yourself before once again inserting foot into mouth. and do you even know what a neo-con is??!! i think NOT... you and the rest of the world would not enjoy the progress we have achieved without good ol' AMERICAN capitolism. if OPEC wasnt so greedy then the superpowers wouldnt be hunting for OIL, because if the superpowers ran out of petrol, this world would be in complete CHAOS!!! GET IT............................

I in no way attempt to speak for America as a whole, but I will tell you personally why I dislike the direction of our country since Obama took office. I have no personal feelings for or against him - this is politics.

1. With the amount of money spent for economic stimulous, and other countries such as Germany agree, we have NO WAY OUT if this plan doesn't work.

2. We have appeared weak in the face of other nations. Whether or not there were past "wrongs" is not the question. It would have, in my opinion, been possible to aknowledge the wrongs and move forward with a new plan WITHOUT having to grovel, take a back-seat, and pass off our head "spot" in the UN. This was the first year in DECADES that the US did not lead the UN meeting and G-20 summit.

3. I personally am not happy with the amount of holdings China has in our country. The bottom line is, they are a communist country. Although we don't have to "force" them into a democracy, I don't think giving them all of this power and money is the right way to go.

4. The numbers he presents to the World - and to the US - don't add up. For example, when he announced the profits of Merryl Lynch and Bank of America, among others, her announced it as profit and declared the economy healed. Unfortunately, the had to BORROW $15B from the US taxpayers in order to achieve a $2M profit. According to my math, that still puts them in the negative.

5. He has broken many campaign promises that others in the world wouldn't know about or care about. For example, his stimulous checks. He changed the criteria after he was elected and WAY LESS people rec'd money AND it was less than he stated while campaigning. This continues with tax hikes, inflation we are already feeling, mortgage reform -- very FEW people qualify here for his program.

6. He is constantly projecting himself onto the world as the humble savior that will save everyone with his sweeping plans. I love to help other countries. But I believe that our country should be healthy first. I donate to charity constantly, but I make sure my kids have food first. The same principle should apply.

7. The closing of Gitmo. It won him immense (and deserved) applause. BUT - there is no plan. Do you know how much money it costs us taxpayers to keep inmates in US jails? And while now he's trying to find prisons to accept MORE prisoners, he is also creating laws that will enable even more people - on US soil - to be incarcerated. Again, this all costs money that we just don't have.

8. He labeled conservatives and returning veterans "extremists" to be watched. First, this causes a huge divide in our country and while campaigning he relied HEAVILY on his bi-partisanship views. Second, if you have to worry about your military, the ones sacrificing their lives to protect a country they love, then as President you are doing something wrong,

On paper it all sounds good. His speeches sound great. His popularity seems genuine.

Unfortunately, the actual people of the US aren't being helped.

Haven't you noticed that our retail sales are still dropping? If the American people were getting the money and programs we need, we would be right back to spending (yes, we love to spend
) And as you all know, Americans spending money helps to stimulate EVERYONE's economy!

What are you saying? That because BUSH was so bad we should be happy with whomever replaces him? Are you implying that because we are so lucky to have gotten away from the prior administration we should embrace this one?

I'll answer it this way: Americans strive for more. That's the principle we were built on and the only one that will save this country and bring it back to the glory we so once enjoyed. We want, and deserve more from our President.

We are currently the tallest pygmy. But what do you know - that still makes us short. We want more for our country. For our people. For future generations. That is why we are, and should be, questioning everything. This is OUR country. It does not, and should not, belong to the government. President Obama doesn't realize that....at least not yet.

Let me start by saying that I am glad to see some of our Euro neighbors participating in the discussion about our country. Your insights are welcomed and we get to see and hear what Europe really thinks of us.

But some of your info is incorrect, or incomplete. For example, take this:

Who did bring USA into such a desastrous situation ?? the republicans !!! BUSH/REAGAN and Tatcher at our side !!!

This is untrue. The banking crisis started because of the housing market failure, which was driven into the ground by the Democrats, namely Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Barack Obama, Jamie Gorelick, and others.

Jamie Gorelick, by the way, was at the center of our intelligence failures that helped bring about 9/11. She got rich over the housing crisis. For more info, read

Mistress of Disaster: Jamie Gorelick

Chris Dodd and Barack Obama were the number 1 and 2 recipients of campaign contributions from FNMA, the Federal National Mortgage Association, an entity which secures loans. They were a victim of the sub-prime mortgage mess, and failed in 2008.

who did kill normal market business ? ENRON + MADOFF and all the other bankers that did abnormal investments and fraud !! Who did ask for help ? GM and Chrysler and others in the first time ??

For your information, this was the second time Chrysler has been bailed out by the gov't. They were bailed out before in the late 1970's.

It would have been much more dramatic for USA and for the workers over there ( and for the world with crisis everywhere ) if Obama did not help GM for exemple.

That is a false argument. If GM had been forced to reorganize under normal bankruptcy laws and practices, they would have been already past this crisis point.

Instead, Obama nationalized them, gave them billions of dollars, fired their CEO, and delivered them to the unions on a silver platter. And their future is still uncertain.

Obama did all of those things outside the law. Also, he guaranteed the warranties on GM and Chrysler vehicles. Under what law? There is no US law allowing the gov't to assume such a liability and charge the taxpayers for it.

You have fallen victim to the false ruse that they were "too big to fail". In the end, they did fail, at a cost of ten times what a normal bankruptcy would have cost.

uh, it was Bill Clinton that started enhanced interrogation techniques, Bush just continued it with the 9/11 suspects.

And who gives a hoot about how other countries feel about us? If they love Obama that much, they can have him. I am from Illinois. We knew this guy was crooked long before the election.

Plus, you forget all the sanctions that Saddam broke, the UN support for the war, the dems support for the war, everyone wanted that # gone.
Now that the dems are in power, they just want to rewrite history.

Well, you got what you wanted. Obama is in power. The dems have control of the house and senate.

You should be happy with the huge deficit spending, rampant unemployment, government take overs of the auto industry, Insurance industry, banking industry, healthcare reform.

Plus his idea of killing the Gito detainees to close the base, the thousands of earmarks in spending bills, the clowns like Reid and Pelosi calling the shots, his absolute lack of transparency in all actions of the government.

Or how about his being ok with Iran having nukes, N Korea having nukes, his lack of support for Israel, his increase in troops for the war in Afghanistan, all his broken promises.

Or how about the Pay Czar, deciding paychecks via government fiat, or the Internet Czar who could shut us down at a whim, or his Dept. Homeland Security Chief who calls Americans who disagree with him "domestic terrorists".

-whew- rant over now

Yeah, Obama is our president. And if he has his way, just like Chavez in Venusuella, will probably be ours for life.

(the resistance starts now)

The OP and it seems just about everyone else here seems to think that elected politicians mean anything.

If you went to the White House, and shot Obama in the head - then the entire senate, then all of congress - and then held elections - nothing would change.

Those who are elected are more than 80% just bought out drones - and they are elected by controllers who pay for them to be presented as candidates and for the media money to get them elected.

Obama or no Obama - the direction for the US won't change. It will only change when you use force to get rid of your current crop of liars - then change your election laws, and media use laws to prevent the controllers from simply putting their puppets back into power.

From the signs I see - the US is going to be totally smashed - the only thing on your mind two years from now may be how you are going to find your next meal.

This is an excellent reply -- and true.

Many in the world view Obama as having saved GM and therefore our country and therefore the world.

What they fail to realize is that with the laws in our country (at least the ones that were in place before Obama) GM could have gone the same course -- without billions of taxpayer dollars and certainly without gov't ownership!

I find that Obama plays the "I had to do such and such to save everything..." card. The rest of the world seems to be accepting this as fact.

However, Americans know better what our laws are and how this could have been achieved and gone about WITHOUT bankrupting the gov't and American taxpayers.

Besides, Obama (gov't) also currently owns the banking sector, automotive, mortgages, and is moving into healthcare.

What's left?

Besides, I think we can provide healthcare to the poor WITHOUT disrupting our current healthcare system that does work for so many. If we nationalize healthcare and (which is in his plan) caps the medical fields' incomes and profits -- say goodbye to all of our top-notch doctors.

We have welfare, medicaid, charity care, etc. Perhaps they need to be reformed -- but there are large parts of the system that are good and work. Unfortunately he's dragging them down with him.

** As a final note: Even if Obama is right in everything he's doing -- the sheer speed in which he's doing it should scare everyone in the world. It took this country more than 30 years to get where we are -- Obama is trying to change everything in about 130 days. **

Let looks at some fact, this should make anybody scare,

Uncle Sam’s “F” Rated Bonds

As the economy keeps slowing down and Obama stimulus hitting the wrong side of the nation, he needs to keep spending like a drunken sailor to maintain the over inflated government we have.

As he keeps expanding government power over the private sector he is slowing down economic grow and domestic grow, he needs to increase taxes to keep government working, he knows that the working class is now destitute and collecting unemployment so the only groups he can target is the wealthy and the private sector but this is not going to work because states are already raising taxes to the working class to balance their also over inflated and bloated state governments and deficits.

Over the next four years, President Obama plans dramatic increases in spending on health care, environment, education, and federal employment. Yet, the private economy, which must be taxed, is likely to grow slowly, resulting in too much borrowing.

As the tax base keeps slowing Obama government spending, bailouts and programs will need billions if not trillions to be able to start, he is not going to be able to do that

For years to come, federal finances will likely look a lot like Obama’s 2010 projection—the deficit at 50 percent of revenues and the Treasury borrowing $100 billion every month.

Imagine what this future is going to do to the bond market.

As President Obama spends and borrows, the Treasury will have to offer higher rates on new 10 and 20 year bonds, making comparable securities issued in 2009 and earlier worth less in the resale market.

That interest rate risk makes U.S. Treasury securities lousy investments.

For rating agencies, Washington’s monopoly on printing dollars makes difficult assigning a conventional rating between AAA and D on its bonds. Those can’t default but investors’ capital is still at risk.

Perhaps a special grade: “F” for flee them now before you get stuck

life in America is going to get a lot harder than is right now.

Time and time again this is what it comes down to, isn't it? The rule of law. This is what most European's and our friends across the borders tend to forget about. Hell, even the majority of people in the US have been raised in educational systems that seem to marginalize the rule of law. I.E. the Constitution.

Rather than try to figure out why these laws are there, and why there are still applicable to this day. They just shrug them off as old fashioned. We live in a smaller world now. The founders could never imagine the scientific, militaristic, and overall advanced society their country would develop into. So, we have to keep in mind that the Constitution was written in different times... And try to be realistic. Right?

This logic is backwards in my opinion!

*off topic* how the heckdto I get rid of my awful background picture. Not the Avatar... I haven't been on in a while and "everything" has changed. Again.

JSO - you and forgetting to mention the abolishment of Depression era REGULATION

we do this dance I post up that same stuff and you mouse off...

Do you honestly forget???

No you know - selling sand to IRAQIS

Respective versions of the legislation were introduced in the U.S. Senate by Phil Gramm (Republican of Texas) and in the U.S. House of Representatives by Jim Leach (R-Iowa). The third lawmaker associated with the bill was Rep. Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. (R-Virginia), Chairman of the House Commerce Committee from 1995 to 2001.

The House passed its version of the Financial Services Act of 1999 on July 1st by a bipartisan vote of 343-86 (|Republicans 205–16; Democrats 138–69; Independent/Socialist 0–1),[3] [4] [5] two months after the Senate had already passed its version of the bill on May 6th by a much-narrower 54–44 vote along basically-partisan lines (53 Republicans and one Democrat in favor; 44 Democrats opposed).[6] [7] [8] [9]

When the two chambers could not agree on a joint version of the bill, the House voted on July 30th by a vote of 241-132 (R 58-131; D 182-1; Ind. 1–0) to instruct its negotiators to work for a law which ensured that consumers enjoyed medical and financial privacy as well as "robust competition and equal and non-discriminatory access to financial services and economic opportunities in their communities" (i.e., protection against exclusionary redlining).[10]

The bill then moved to a joint conference committee to work out the differences between the Senate and House versions. Democrats agreed to support the bill after Republicans agreed to strengthen provisions of the anti-redlining Community Reinvestment Act and address certain privacy concerns; the conference committee then finished its work by the beginning of November.[8] [11] On November 4th, the final bill resolving the differences was passed by the Senate 90-8,[12] [13] and by the House 362-57.[14] [15] This legislation (whose voting margins, if repeated, would easily have overcome any Presidential veto) was signed into law by Democratic President Bill Clinton on November 12, 1999.[16]

So yes technically the DEREGULATION and FELONIOUS financial instruments which lay at the heart of the W disaster were created by and pandered to conservative/republican ideology.

Without the legality mentioned above the ability to create such a ride to the poor house would have not been possible.

Thanks

I'm sure we will dance this same DANCE again
