Dear unemployment rates has been sugar coated just like everything else with the "economy" if you are in the Markets and have money to spend usually the "wealthy" then the markets are doing great for you

But if you are in the 6 million (real Numbers could in the 13 millions) that lie unemployment and destitute the Markets are nothing but the dream of the Rich.

The unemployment by cities paint a better picture of how rates really are.

The Labor Department reported that the rate in Indiana's Elkhart-Goshen led the way, jumping 12.7 points, to 17.8 percent. The region has been pounded by cuts in the recreational-vehicle industry.

The second-highest jump occurred in Bend, Ore. Its rate rose to 15.6 percent, up 9 points. North Carolina's Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton saw its rate rise to 14.9 percent, up 8.8 points.

The figures aren't seasonally adjusted, making month-to-month comparisons far more volatile.
.

www.chicagotribune.com...

California is the highest state that is posting the highest unemployment by city, with a whooping 26.9 percent en El Centro CA..

Followed by Yuma, Ariz., at 20.3 percent; Merced, Calif., at 18.3 percent; and Yuba City, Calif., at 18.2 percent..

I believe that we may see and exodus coming from the West coast to the east coast very soon.

13 Cities Report Unemployment above 15%

This is just the beginning.

So much for the glimmer of hope.

Sorry to burst you bubble of hope but I voted for Obama looking for hope it didn't took that long to see that he is just following his masters agenda and he is just like bush with different skin color.

Wake up and see that in American our own for the people government doesn't work for the people anymore.

Barack Obama is riding high in the polls

Not exactly true. Obama got 53% of the vote on Election Day. According to Rassmussen, who predicted that's what he'd get, has only 53% of Americans supporting Obama right now. That's really not good since Barack started with 65%ish.

You have your numbers a little wrong.
Obama enjoys an overall aprroval rating of 64 - 68%. One of the highest approval ratings in history.

However, when asked if people think that the country is moving in the right direction only 53% approve.

I know this because I've never understood how these numbers are so different. I always thought we judged a president on his policies and what he does for the people of country -- not whether or not we like him or think he's a good guy.

His approval rating is more about his "celebrity" image, then whether or not he is a capable Commander-in-Chief.

It's rather sad IMO. Next up for election - Paris Hilton.

Yeah, and the one thing that could have helped despite this administration's disastrous spending plans was the relatively low price of oil.

All of this time has passed and NOTHING has been done to decrease our dependence on foreign oil, in fact because of new restrictions on drilling and exploration there is more dependence on foreign oil.

Have you seen how the price of gas is going back up?

Any recovery this administration had hoped would come from their insane spending and bailouts will be dashed by higher oil costs.

They have no idea how bad it will get, as these costs continue to rise and their new plans actually have helped cause that.

This belief they have that less dependence on oil without any rise in domestic production through restrictions, is only going to make it worse, and cause prices to continue to rise.

No matter how much money they throw at the the economy, they can't hope for better days when they are seeking to crush the ability to produce the life blood of this economy.

It will be too late when their fantasy green technologies arrive, they should have thought this through more.

Unless they actually want to destroy this country and economy to achieve some other goals and/or objectives.

When gas prices rise back to and above the $4 per gallon range you will see more clearly what I am talking about... Prices are already back above $2.60 per gallon in many places now and still rising.

Shipping costs will now go up sharply along with fuel surcharges, eventually causing a rise in everything in the stores. More lay-offs and unemployment will result and the downward cycle will gain momentum.

Either this administration and congress are completely stupid, or brilliant if their goal is to destroy capitalism and restructure the nation into some new twisted version of socialism then they are getting it done brilliantly!

The fact that you don't even live in the USA, yet claim such strong allegiance to our dear President, should tell you something.

Did you notice your tone -- the President for the WORLD?

Last I checked, we elected a person to office to represent the people of the USA (whether others agree with our decisions or not).

I see his rhetoric has worked on you.

PS - I believe others in the world, such as yourself, are so convinced that Americans are wrong in their lifestyles, values, etc. that you are hoping Obama "brings us around" to the way of living in the rest of the world. If we wanted to live in Europe - we would and could.

That would be imposing YOUR beliefs on us. Nobody liked US too much when we went around (forcibly) speading democracy!! So don't be a hypocrite now, please.

no, for me he is not a pop star !! he is the president of USA and very important in this world. I am not considering him as a star, he just will try to change those 8 years of negativ economic evolution, war and despair.
I feel you are very sceptic about him : do you really think we are naive in Europ and do not see there is a big change there at yours ? are you paranoïd and think he is acting against the people ?? We are not so sick here, we knew doubleyou and he was really scary - remember 9/11 ? inside job ? W Bush was really making USA sick, Obama will try to make it better - some hope is justified !

no I am not from Poland ! I am from Brussels, the capital of Europ and we know a lot about what going on in this world !! so you think that I do not have to have a opinion about your president ? do we live in a open world or in a closed one like yours ??? do you open your window sometimes and look what the president of the USA can do in this world ? what he can do for Israel / Palestine ? what he can do for USA economics ( and what he did by giving millions to the banks to save the system ! ), what he can do for ecology ?
I find that you are very negativ and have no hope for a better world : I can give you a advice : Have a wonderful ATS kind of day!

It's always refreshing to see another perspective from afar. You are correct in your observations. It is sad for me to see so many of my fellow citizens secretly hoping that Obama will fail....how political dogma and the color of skin can trump the advancement of ones own country is beyond me.

yes, yes, that is what I mean !! Obama is just in power and there you have the old wives already breaking him down !! why ?? are they preferring the BUSH neocons ? do they realise where they come from ? it's sickening to see how they want to demolish yet the president !! why didn't they demolish the bush one more rapidly ?? would have been better for everybody !! no, it seems they prefer the bush/cheeney/rumsfeld/rove machos to their new president who did receive this world " as is ".
Here we do not understand, except that those people are, we think, right wing guys who do not like black people in power and are too macho to like the more intelligent way this president is working and handling the problems he got from the past !!

First off Georgepatrick I will advise you to hit the ATS handbook located on the top of the page under the FAQ in between the search button and the chat button.

Courtesy is mandatory here.

Next off I feel that you do not understand our political structure here and therefore you comment over and over out of ignorance.

As far as democracies we are a very limited democracy. To be CLEAR we are established as a Democratic Representative Republic and even that is debatable given how our congress men redraw their district lines to ensure the get re-elected thus cheating us all....

Obama is no great savior. Anyone that wins the office of president is just their to further the agenda of the CFR and the federal reserve.

If Obama was truly a great leader Bush would of already been arrested for war crimes and crimes against humanity. He aint. I have no faith in Obama.

If you want to Love Obama like Europeans love Michal Jackson that is your prerogative. But if your gonna expound on that love then people are gonna call you out when you saw foolish things.

I just want you to know that we want to give him a chance to change !! and you look very pessimist and desperate that you even do not want to give him that chance !! I thought USA was the land of the free - to give a chance to anybody ??? Bush got his chance, he got the worst during 8 years ! Give the chance to OBAMA, do not destroy his relance and his positiv way of trying to solve the problems he got from the neocons !
no, you just demolish him before he even got that chance ! you are a real poor man.

I do not think that georgepatrick has been uncourtious...I think he speaks with a certain amount of bewilderment which I completely understand.

We elected a president who knew he was about to be thrown into the quick sand, the world at large is urging him on, but then some are screaming that he is not swimming fast enough for them and others simply want him to sink.

There is a world view of Obama as there was of Bush..the world was right about Bush...I'm betting the world is correct about Obama...the world does have a stake in Obamas success.
