If there is a hell and a devil, ever think that hell could just be one big place for sinners to go and be sinners? Maybe the whole "hell, fire and brimstone" thing is a lie made up by religion to win souls over.

Heaven is spose to be all things "good", well perhaps in hell there is unlimited debauchery. Booze that never ends, wild sex, drugs, perversions, gluttony. In short, just a complete afterlife of indulgence. Why does it have to be punishment? If there is a devil, who says he will not reward HIS followers for a life of sin?

I hope you're right cause the odds of my making it through those pearly gates are slim to none.

I suppose the people that can answer your questions with any authority are already dead, so it looks like we'll have to wait for the answers.

Hell, and heaven respectively, are the states of being you create for yourself in the afterlife. While you ponder your actions from this life, things done or undone, regrets or no regrets..it is your thoughts alone that create the state of pure pleasure or pure torment.

Yep there is a Hell... and they recently substituted the Fire and Brimstone torture for back-to-back Barry Manillow over the loud speakers. If ever there was a good time to become Christian, it's now!

I just picture satan like a cool uncle, lol, he's got bbq ribs all the time, master of puppets playing in the background, ladies all around him lol, seriously, why would satan want to condemn his followers, why would he not celebrate them?

So you have evidence of any of this or this is just what you believe for no other reason than you just believe this so ?

Chip on your shoulder already?
Not one person alive can prove there is a heaven or hell.
Those are my beliefs, and I state them openly. I need not prove them to anyone.Nor do I need reason to.
I respect the beliefs of everyone, and I chose my own.

When you put hell that way, then it sounds like the place to be! I have often joked about hell in this way and that the boring people are in heaven. Some find it funny, some find it offensive, oh well. I personally think hell is just made up to scare people in their religion.

Or it might be the same place. Except in Hell, instead of doing the buggering, you're the one being buggered...

Forever.

Oh and don't drink the kool aid.

MY belief is this: Based on the Bible,

Satan did not create hell, God did, therefore he has no power to reward anyone.

I do not know if there is a hell, but I do know a man that had a NDE and says he went to hell and I can tell you this, he totally changed his ways and to this day is a changed man. He was a drunk, he was addicted to pornography, he was having an affair with a married woman, I could go on and on... he stopped all of it. It was obviously a powerful experience for him. Don't beat me up, that is just my 2 pennies!

For the last time to my fellow brethren and skeptics alike there is no afterlife. Hell was created for Satan and the rebellious fallen angels. Now their offspring are posing as "Galactic Federation of Light" and "aliens." Hell is reserved for judgment. Jesus says to the crowds to not take heed to the dead because they are not alive in any conscious way even after death. They simply die like scientists say.

I so hope that's a reference to the Young Ones! If not, damn good coincidence.

IMO, heaven and hell are like yin and yang, everything needs a counterpart to balance. It's why there's a Jesus and a Satan, the church can play them off eachother to point out why one is inherently good and the other inherently evil. They're representative to the two polar opposites of the human psyche.

And in response to the OP, yeah, I reckon they're used by the church for its own ends, based on the points I made above.

I didn't ask you to prove anything, I asked if you have evidence of the statement of fact that you made.

I was courteous enough to allow for the likelihood that this was just your, belief that you have no evidence to support it.

Please don't get you knickers in a twist, there's no chips on my shoulders, at least there is no evidence of such lol.

There's plenty of evidence though, to show that Hell is a fiction dreamed up by xtianity in order to control the sheeple through the use of fear of death. This has been discussed here on ATS quite a bit and there are some nice little threads in its' relation on the go.

Hell is not torture in the sense of pain it is supposed to be separated from god.And the act of separetion from god is what makes hell torture. So does it eist i guess entirely depends on if you believe in god.

I do not believe in any of this, BUT. The devil will not reward HIS followers because he is still an angel of God, like in Job. He is doing god's will, by punishing sinners. This is where many Christians are confused.

Exactly what I was going to post. Pope John Paul the second even stated that this was his opinion of what hell is.

When one is seperated completely from God they are seperated from love. When you take love away all you have is hate.

Thats what the pope thought anyways.

Well there isnt a hell so you dont have to worry.

Serious try not to think as religion as 100% true word of god. We have seen what the word of god is after all, some crazy rich white people who say god is talking with them. How often can you trust the word of someone in a position of power? If god would talk to each person on earth, like he does with these popes and priests and evangelists and whatever else, we would all be groovy. Yet he doesnt he curiously chooses to speak to a select few whose legitamacy, as respectable religious leaders, is debatable.

Think of heaven and hell as symbolic representations of the good and bad that resides within all of us. It isnt a place we go to its what we may become. Do what is right, essentially if you are a good person at heart you wont have anything to worry about. Many people would argue that by following the word of god they are doing whats right. I would argue that mainstream religion practitioners are not following the word of god but the word of corrupt men who are perverting the natural process of finding god within oneself.

i dont believe in jesus and heaven in hell in the whole christian islamic sense what i believe is a mixture of gnostic buddhist and spirituality, i think we are either put on earth by some god figure to test us so this would be our hell so if we do not complete oursleves by discovering our true potential as gods and part of god we die and our reborn into this life until we get it right and then when we fully understand our essence we loose our manifested bodies and enter a greater consciousness and become one with god and the universe

that right there is heaven and hell ..... to me
