Ras Kass 1996....one of the most underrated Poets in Hip Hop!

He has quite a few songs that will incite thought when you listen to them.
*Interview with a Vampire
*Nature of the Threat

those are also great songs that will cause you to think!!

new album out now, Low Key (UK) and immortal technique!!

(Lowkey)
"From West 10 to the West Bank,
I write righteous rhymes with my right and wrestle the devil with my left hand,
Never work for a Zionist, never been a yes man,
My art is like Rembrandt painting pictures of death camps,
The average person is allergic to the words of wisdom,
This is for everyone of Saddam's Kurdish murder victims,
And all the pure souls that never had the chance to speak,
Truth pumps in my arteries and causes my heart to beat,
For soldiers haunted and tortured by guilty memories,
Who realised too late to reveal their real enemy,
It's all dead wrong
For every victim of racist persecution from Auschwitz to Hebron,
My words may sting cowards,
For people that were atomised by the Thermate in the Twin Towers
Those living through the wars,
Ask me what I do this for,
Put the world in its place before it put you in yours,

Chorus:

(Singer)
What happens under darkness shall come to light,
Can't silence us even though you try,

(Lowkey)
You can try to avoid us but it's pointless
You can never avoid the voices of the voiceless

(Singer)
Take our freedom, Can't take our pride,
Come what may we will survive,

(Lowkey)
You can try to avoid us but it's pointless,
You can never avoid the voices of the voiceless

Verse2:

(Immortal Technique)
Keep my third eye hidden under my New York fitted,
A crazy unmarried man that deserves to be committed,
The future is encrypted in my troubled lyrics,
Dream that I've been somewhere for weeks, then wake up in a couple minutes,
Sweat dripping with visions of population control,
Thoughts overflowing my world like the melting of the North Pole,
My people are targeted by military crack committees,
So I'm bucking at the feds like natives in Rapid City,
Reality savage, my words are like a riot in Paris,
The voice of the voiceless, that voice is social imbalance,
So stand strong or sit harder in your mental palace,
Blinded inside a Kingdom united to its old habits,
But now, Middle Passage coming, War Chant, African drumming,
Gatling gun humming,
Rapid fire mechanism, reckless living,
That checks the rhythm of perfectionism,
Slave condition,
While you're singing God save the system,

Chorus:

(Singer)
What happens under darkness shall come to light,
Can't silence us even though you try,

(Lowkey)
You can try to avoid us but it's pointless
You can never avoid the voices of the voiceless

(Singer)
Take our freedom, Can't take our pride,
Come what may we will survive,

(Lowkey)
You can try to avoid us but it's pointless,
You can never avoid the voices of the voiceless

Verse3:

(Lowkey)
Detain my body, but you can't imprison my mind,
If it's my time I'll probably die with my fist in the sky,
These are the thoughts of a man who can't escape from his coma,
Cries of a young virgin girl who got raped by them soldiers,

(Immortal Technique)
Birthing a screaming bastard, post colonial nation,
Subject to childhood diseases, famine, war and inflation,
Education moulded you into your masters image,
And you forgot who the # you were before the war was finished

(Lowkey)
You're hearing the ghosts of Nagasaki, You're hearing Hiroshima,
Beautiful babies being born with the weirdest features,
You might never see me in the charts,
But Inshallah my seed can see peace in Iraq,

(Immortal Technique)
But peace and freedom can never be given,
That's historically forbidden, Cos only collision is the recipe,
Changing the course of destiny,
So I'm strapped with weaponry,

(Lowkey & Immortal Technique)
Cos the government don't give a # about protecting me.

Chorus:

(Singer)
What happens under darkness shall come to light,
Can't silence us even though you try,

(Lowkey)
You can try to avoid us but it's pointless
You can never avoid the voices of the voiceless

(Singer)
Take our freedom, Can't take our pride,
Come what may we will survive,

(Lowkey)
You can try to avoid us but it's pointless,
You can never avoid the voices of the voiceless.

Good looks! I've been wanting to hear that one since I first heard of its coming in my bulletin on myspace, Lowkey was spamming that song for awhile on it, but it was only a snippet.

I exist in a state of consistant transition
plans shifting, with insuffitient ambition
man listen, this is my advice
die or fight, get caged in or take flight
on the page inside the margin i make light
appear in the form of the words i write
its all solar, from the lows to highs
but your blinded by the wool pulled over ya eyes
by over-sized flies, that feed off waste
take the icing on the cake, and leave without trace
the man without a face i stay anonymous
the way we livin day to day stays monotonous
like ya bland sound
but with the weight of the world on top of us we still stand ground
and brake down, your fasination with the fabrication of the truth
make use of your imagination
in the pursuit of expression
not as a disguise to, hide behind when undressing
ya bredrin, i reckon, the question is this
to be or not to be - a simple lesson in risk

imparting this text, is my only life after death
im left gasping for breath
asking for less tention and stress, about to suffocate
it feels like i need devine intovention to resusitate me lately
its like frustration has taken its hold
restraining me from breaking the mold
or making the most of my creative control
times taking its toll, im elevating my soul by
taking the old to the new like nice and smooth
my voice high likes to groove
the break sets the move, i express my attitude
towards my foes and those who show no gratitude
you cant calulate my longitude or latitude,
navigate my catacombe, or reach my altitude
im too high, far too fly to stay stationary
basically i keep it constructive, like masonary
blantenly disruptive, and its disgracefully corruptive
system plagued with injustice
but this is purity, you cant touch this
its much more to me, than just #-ish
but i cant let that discourage,
i salvage anything of value from the rubbish and repair
i wont be driven into submission or dispair
i prepare for war i heard the rhythem of the snare (right there)

Lyrics to City Of Industry :
[Scratches]

[Verse 1:]
Air poured, my thoughts shrouded by cloud forms
The line ravaged in the wake of this ground war
The quintessential outlaw
Eye of the storm, my tears fall as a torrential downpour
The flood, your death wish written in blood
I came in from the cold, clothes dripping with mud
Gripping a club, primitive, a stick is a dud
Swinging a punch, the bad seed pick of the bunch
I drink black rain, take another swig and I'm drunk
Taste venom on the tip of my tongue, my lips cold
Spitting out toxins I couldn't dissolve or withhold
I never sold my soul for fool's gold
So I'm still free, but too numb to feel pity
Some broke down, now the still city's a ghost town
Snowflakes cover the ground in white carpets
Seasons of espionage as time passes
The lion hearted, survival of the hardest artist
My open arms embrace darkness
Still craving carnage and infamy
But even parasites starve in this carcass of industry

[Scratches]

[Verse 2:]
You can see me as cynical, trapped in my own gothic vision
Encapsulating chaos in this composition
Calculated like the lies of a politician
Gripping the slingshot, I size up the opposition
I drop a match in the clouds and watch the flames rise
Fire water falling from these grey skies
To paint your train lines, chrome over red brick
Reflective, like a gemstone in a cesspit
Jehst gives belief to a skeptic
The truth neglected like open wounds that turn septic
Infected by the forked tongue of a liar
Now my thoughts are the colour of fire
And my night's spent running the ?
Unspired by the freak show
I see ghosts dance in the trail of my weed smoke
My words are folklore, that survived the Cold War
New World Order and so forth
I go north, ankle-deep in snowfall
Leaping over dry stone walls with a ?
Steam clouds rise from my fiery breath
It's the last twilight before the silence of death

[Scratches]

[Verse 1]
Drinking in electric lady land
Conversate with the crazy man
Where the babies sip baby cham'
And dames babysit Damien
Plagued by the everyday pain of a pantomime palladium
Players duckin buckshots in the cranium
Lost on a path of pre-destined devastation
They're dishin out medication in many forms
I meditate on millennium metaphors
A tour-de-force of fornication
A thought-police state dictates to the whores of a sleaze nation
Discreet segregation
Infinite degrees of separation, we celebrate creation
Creating new means of our destruction
De-sensitised to the violence, the carnage is cartoon
It's Televised to your front room
Guns boom, pictures that poison the young
We're highly strung
A slugfest for the scum
But I ain t givin up 'cause I'm driven by the drum in drunken tongues
I talk up at the sun but I ain t givin up
Nah

[Chorus]
Rain clouds breakdown my cardboard wall of sound
And now nobody hears when I'm calling out
It's like they cover their ears
Say my tears are the tears of a clown
Please help me
I'm falling down

[Verse 2]
My silver tongue spits gold bars
Bring an amber glow to cold hearts
Show love to my close spars
Living their lives so fast
While our foes slow dance with Diablo
Most can't cope with the agro, watchin' the rats grow
Led astray by a modern day pied piper in a lab coat
It's code red, white lines blue movies
And media scapegoats provoke defence
I vent fears with a broken pen
And shed tears for the hopeless
Approaching the future with a clear focus
Frozen below the mushroom clouds
And we're much too loud to be allowed to speak out
'Cause the people might freak out
A free man with his hands tied, died buried below the landslide
Rigged by the sidewinders
Wise to the way that the lies are applied as a social science
to those who show signs of defiance
The fire burns
We learn ways to survive as the world turns
Look away from the flames as the fire burns
We learn ways to survive

[Chorus]
