Enlightenment and Awareness in Hip Hop

Glad to see some hip hop isnt just about drugs, strippers, drinking and committing crimes. Most of the mainstream hip hop I hear here in the US is only about those things. I hear hip hop all the time at work and none of it is about enlightenment or awareness. I;m glad someone pointed out the good in some of the hip hop. However many of the bands on this thread I have never heard of except Prodigy but I never considered them hip hop and then Tu Pac who I always liked. When I am on a computer with sound I will have to listen to these songs. Thanks for the post though! S&F!

My cousin actually is a good upcoming rapper from Miami and his ryhmyz are very positive and enlightning ..guess what all the record companies told him!!!He need to change his ryhmyz to selling drugs ,#in bitches etc...negative #!These record companies promoting negative images for the youth to follow!!I dont even listen to the new stuff and i am only 30!!I stuck on that native tongue,blackstar,gangstarr,jeru era..its real hip hop!forget that hip POP!

Rock and metal has been doing this since the 70's.

Plus it sounds better.

You are totally misunderstanding what Tupac said in They Dont Give A # About Us.

He says:

Some say they expect Illuminati to take my body to sleep
Niggas at the party with they shotties just as rowdy as me
Before I fear computer chips I gotta deal with brothers flipping
I don't see no devils bleeding only black blood dripping

What he is saying is that instead of the Black race, or the people in the ghetto irrelevant of color, deal with the Illuminati they should focus on their own problems first. He's saying, before he fears computer chips, he has to look out for someone shooting him. There's no Illuminati killing people in his neighborhood, they are killing each other.

Pac's whole stance with the "Killuminati" was stop blaming everything on a higher power, new world order, illuminati, devil, whatever, and take responsibility for your own actions and the actions in the community. Fix that, and those higher powers wont win.

I agree, if you really want to battle the Illuminati, fix your homes, our streets, the neighborhoods, poverty, etc. There is a lot the community can do if they band together to improve the community, instead of blowing each others brains out and blaming the Illuminati.

thanks for your insight i do agree with your points, i hadnt thought of it that way in the deeper sense. i do believe he says flee but it could be fear.. either way it is generally a positive message. we know now that the Illuminati does indeed exist and rfid chips is one of their main agendas. it is a shame pac was taken from us, he was a great wise artist and had powerful influence, he had taken an interest in politics too before he was 'assassinated', it would have been interesting to see where that could have led.

Flee or fear, it all boils down to the same really.
