In Buchenwald, Obama to target Holocaust denial

news.yahoo.com
DRESDEN, Germany – In a solemn rendezvous with history, President Barack Obama will visit a scene of the 20th century's great European horror to make an urgent point about the fear that still stalks its survivors.

After meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel in this city crushed by allied bombing in World War II, Obama was to fly by helicopter Friday to the Buchenwald concentration camp, where an estimated 56,000 people perished. Most were Jews — worked to death, shot or hanged by Nazi guards.

The visit comes on the eve of commemorations in France of the 65th anniversary of the Allie

Yes, exactly.

And one other thing people forget is that the number of Jews that died during WW2 was the MINORITY!

There were over a hundred million deaths, and less than 3 million Jewish (maybe even less). It's actually been proven that there were never 6 million Jews in Europe at that time anyways, which makes the whole "6 million Jews dying" completely false.

Question everything.

Since you wisely advice to question everything, let me question your "been proven" thing. Care to provide reference/explanation how there were less then 6 million Jews in Europe prior WW2? I mean, i can understand someone questioning numbers of how many were killed, since it is impossible to find out exactly, but this is first time i hear this idio... weird idea.
As for Obama's behaviour in general - i think that so far it is positive, he clearly wants things to calm down on every front , and US can only gain from it.

The fact of the matter is that nobody can confirm anything has ever happened unless they directly experience the event themselves.

What I find striking is that nobody seems to want to question how many people Stalin killed, or Mao or Pal Pot etc. Nobody really makes jokes about these events or refer to the guards in popular culture. (When it's to do with the Holocaust, it's a different matter.)

Do you think the great grandson of a Russian who was killed by Stalin would find any jokes made about the event to be humorous?

Do you think a descendent of somebody who got killed in Cambodia would accept people questioning how many really died?

It is all a matter of respect. All you have to do is ask yourself "what is the motive for asking these questions?" Holocaust denial is very rarely about wanting to find out the truth. It is more to do with trying to cement the idea that Zionists grossly exaggerated the number of Jews killed so that they could gain enough sympathy to allow them to take Palestinian land.

Of course many secular Jews overreact when any mention of the Holocaust is made. And this is partly why "Holocaust Revisionism" will continue to grow. Also, I have seen many instances where Jews acknowledge only the Jews who died in the Holocaust. This again is something that only encourages more attention and ridicule.

There is a responsibility in the Jewish world to better educate their people that more than half the victims of the Holocaust were non-Jews.

However, this does not give people the right to defame the State of Israel by insinuating that such a horrible event was grossly exaggerated and used purely for political points to ensure its establishment. There is enough evidence available to strongly suggest that millions died in the Holocaust, and at least at one point, there was a plan to exclusively target Jews.

And what exactly can he do in Afganistan and Iraq? Let it fall to Taliban and Iran? This is politically impossible. So he cannot go against military, even if he wants too (and it is pretty silly thing to do since US invested a lot to gain foothold there). Politics are not black/white ,just as nothing in life is. Obama is head of superpower with its economical, political, strategical interests. There are tons of different lobbists and pressure groups , there are real enemies of US, there are challenges to US sole superpower position. If you think that when he spoke about "change" he talked about Switzerland type of US - you are wrong. He indeed tries to do things differently but the main objectives are the same. US will continue to dictate its will, maybe less violently.
