Police said 72-year-old Carradine was found with lengths of cord wrapped around his neck and other parts of his body, including his genitals.

The revelations have prompted speculation the actor died while attempting erotic asphyxiation, a practice that causes sexual arousal by depriving the brain of oxygen.

"A rope was attached to his neck and also to his penis," a police officer was quoted in The Sun as saying.

I must say when i was told about his death and were it was announced the first two things that came to mind was either drugs or sex, obviously my choice was right.

What is it with these Hollywood actors and their mental state. Well looks like he went off with a bang, too bad his whole family is now feeling humiliated by his actions.

Looks like little grasshopper wasn't so little when it came to sex.

I absolutely loved him and the other actors in his family. I just heard on CNN that he comitted suicide and nothing about sex games,

Either way, we lost a great actor.

Very sad to hear. A lot of us grew up watching his shows.

It's very disappointing that the media can't consider a little respect of privacy in someone's memory anymore...

Actually, what is it with these humans.

Too bad this information leaked to the public. What he was doing behind closed doors was his business as long as it wasn't illegal or against someones will.

I'll just remember him non-judgmentally for his acting.

There was no reason for the media to state the fact of auto-erotic asphyxia. Would they also state that somebody was having sex with a blow up doll while they had a heart attack? Actually. They probably would. Damn media, but can you blame em? Its the people that want to hear that stuff. If it didn't sell ratings they wouldn't say it.

When I read the original story first thing I thought was auto-erotic asphyx. I actually posted that theory on another website (wouldn't do it here because this site is so family oriented).

I mean hanging yourself in a hotel closet? Those closets are tiny! No way could you be off the ground. Sad, he thought he would just "relax" a bit before dinner and he ended up dead. This is what everyone will think of now when they hear his name, though actually it sort of fits his quirky personality. Apparently he still had his groove going.

He should have used a belt through the door frame. Rope is too dangerous.

He knew darn well this could happen. He has probably been doing this for 40 years. He could have prevented this, and the scandal, he knew how to prevent it (i.e. hold the rope with your other hand) but apparently he felt the risk and the scandal was worth it.

I feel bad for the guys family and the many of you that were touched by the work of this man as an artist. That being said I don't see anything wrong with the details being broke, this exploitation is no different than the whole Anna Nicole Smith ordeal and there were plenty of threads about that with all kinds of crazy theories about what was really going down.

High cost for a cheap thrill!! Really stupid, you know?? I agree that he knew what could happen and how the scandalous nature of this type of death would play out in the media........

Well what might seem insignificant to you might hold some relevance to someone else.

As it was also mentioned, he knew the risk's and gambled and he lost. Its similar to russian roulette, eventually your not only going to hear the click.

I'm interested in other's interest, but not in this dude's life.
Like, for me, there needs to be some sort of use for something in order to be interested in it.

You'd be surprised at how common this kind of thing is, some people will simply choke themselves with their own hands. "Choking" videos have become more common in several forms on the porn sites, it is pretty disturbing but one reason why news sites are talking about it. Death by self-asphyxiation is not that rare anymore.

I still think they will exploit this just to sell papers and drive up web hits.
