Seems to me that the zoo keepers are anthromorphising the penguins. Male and female penguins both hatch and rear and this behaviour is a product of their survival mechanism. Often parents will take turns hunting for fish while one maintains the eggs in freezing temperature.

These two penguins may have nested together, are dominated by alpha males that horde the females and have developed a default association.

It is odd that while they have the compulsion to reproduce as indicated by hatching the so called abandoned egg yet they maintain the abstraction of an alternative live style.

You might say that these penguins are ethical homosexuals instead of being greedy bisexuals.

homosexual means sex

that means i need proof they have sex together

laying together cuddling is NOT sex, and is only indicated of a Good friendship

see in penguin world, buddys may be allowed to cuddle and its not considered gay (we dont know their sociology)

so either you supply evidence of sexual relations between the two, or we have no choice but to consider this entire report bunk...

look with some legit proof ill accept it and move on with my life no big deal lol

Spend time on a farm and you will see alot of same sex animals having or attempting intercourse. I've seen cows 'do' each other nearly daily. Dolphins are known to have same sex shagging, and they are one of the only creatures besides us who do it for pleasure.
If you bother to look into, you'll see alot of expamples and studies on this. I couldn't be bothered researching as Ive seen it with my own eyes and quite frankly its common knowledge.

People who object to same sex relationships are simply FEARING the idea GAY, and we can all guess the reasons why they are scared.....

Why does anyone care who sticks what where with whom and how?
This is a nice story of two males penguins that are acting out their natural instincts to bond and to nurture, and look what happened out of it, the miracle of life Congrats to the new daddies.

Seems more to me that this pokes holes in the 'theory' that nobody is born gay, and that homosexuality does not occur naturally. As, to the best of my knowledge, penguins don't have "stress issues" requiring them to do drugs with gay prostitues, nor have they been "indoctrinated to accept the homosexual lifestyle".

At least, I'VE never seen any penguin gay pride parades.

well id have to say lmao. . . . are you serious two penguins are both male and near each other so they are homosexuals. . . . all you gay is genetic advocates are seriously reaching here. . . .

Couldn't one argue that this is evidence of homosexuality being a product of an unnatural environment?

So, basically, you're telling me that you will become gay if you are placed in an unnatural environment?

If it's 'well established science' you shouldn't have a problem providing the well established documentation.
As far as your wiki link is concerned it also states:

"...In 2005, Roy and Silo separated, after some six years of paired behavior, with Roy remaining single. Silo found another partner, a female called Scrappy,[2] but became single again in 2006...."

So was Silo a confused heterosexual or a confused homosexual?

It's a cute story, but I smell propaganda which can eventually be used against either side of the debate.

Widen your eyes. Go google. Go read acclaimed research. NOT just penguins. The whole animal kingdom.

Humans are animals too. What applies to penguins, giraffes, dogs, applies to us. WE ARE ANIMALS TOO, WITH supposedly-more DEVELOPED MINDS. Don't try to make-yourself-holier-than-thou and say "just because we're human, we cannot be gay and being gay is a bad thing."

Maybe the penguins aren't gay, just two best friends raising another egg. But go do more research, and you'll find other examples, not just in the aviary kingdom, that are similar.

Look, the science is there for likesexual and bisexual behavior within numerous speices of the animal kingdom all over the net for anyone who choses to look at evidence without preconceived and learned moral abstractions.

Look for it don't look for it it's all the same to me.

Of course its a lot easier to ignore the things which negate our beliefs, especially for those who's egos and life meanings are heavily invested within.

What it does open the door for is that people could technically make drugs that rewire you to either be gay or not to be gay, in which case others will feel offended making is sound like a disease to be cured. Yet, the simple fact is that if we were to call anyone with a mutation a disease, then we are all diseased.

I get what you're saying, good point, but I conjured up the plot to X-Men 5: The Gay Genome Cure, in my head.
