Journalist claims papers turned down story about Bush's desire to invade Iraq

An investigative journalist who authored a controversial book on the Bush dynasty says he approached major US newspapers about running publishing a story regarding President George W. Bush’s alleged intent to invade Iraq before the 2004 election but was rebuffed.

The journalist and author, Russ Baker, says he had a taped interview of Bush’s onetime biographer in which he says Bush told him he intended to invade Iraq as early as 1999, during his presidential campaign. The interview with former...

What other evidence do you need that the Iraq invasion was all but a direct consequence of 9/11 and the war on terror? I've always known that there is a select group of very powerful Americans we know little about and are closely connected to the Bush family. While Americans gave their life, Iraq suffered greatly, this group has profited greatly from it.

It furthermore proves how much the mainstream media is censored. If they manage to do the same to the internet, we will soon turn into sheeps again.

The only evidence was a man saying Bush said that?

I wouldn't have published the story either. There are alot of news sources that did not like Bush at the time. If a journalist wouldn't touch it then hand it to an analyst. Let them get the ball rolling on it which would give the journalists a reason to dig into it.

If no one wanted to touch it then I have to lean towards there not being a real story.

Can't believe there is such little attention for such big news. Bush and Co freaking planned the Iraq war long before the 911 attacks and the war on terrorism, confirming the WMDs that didn't exist was not due to wrong intelligence but as many on here already assumed: an excuse for invasion.

The topic of just when Bush planned to invade Iraq has been done . While it is true that it has been established that Bush and the majority of his cabinet were gunning for Iraq pre 9-11 , the specific statements concerned in the article are hear say and should be treated as such . No responseible journalist would claim hear say as facts nor would any responseible person advocate such a course of action .
