Am I the only one who sees how British politics works?
Labour under Michael Foote started off in the centre but slowly drifted out to the left allowing the conservatives to take the centre position and win the election. Then, while they were in power, Thatcher took a hard line stance and took the party way out to the right leaving the centre open for New Labour to repossess. Sure enough, they went on to win the next election under Tony Blair. Now New Labour have stalled while moving slightly to the left leaving the centre open for Camerons conservatives to take up that position hence the reason he's ahead in all of the poles. This is why it doesn't matter who you vote for or what they promise as they all occupy the safe centre ground therefore the policies stay the same. The whole thing is a huge con.

Maybe the cntre ground wouldn't be the key if everyone got out to vote. We're lucky if 60% of registered voters actually go to the Polls in a General Election, let alone the EU one. Apparently, more people vote for Britains Got Talent than in elections!!

The only people who do vote are the old fuddie duddies with wierd ideas. Labour only polled 37% of the popular vote in 2005, but due to the voting system we use (FPTP) and the people who vote blindly based on party allegiance, we are left with a Parliament full of people who don't actually represent the views of the populace.

Who knows how we can accomplish that.... To much money and power in the world. and not enough to go around.

Never underestimate the power of the people.
That is a big mistake that the politicians one day will live to regret.
People can only take so much.

The title of this thread has just received massive justification:

PM told to go as minister quits

It's now difficult to see how Brown could continue. Consequently even the public are going to be pushing for a general election.

This is the first time UK politics has been truly on the boil for a long, long time. At the very least it should reengage a significant number of voters who have effectively felt disenfranchised - as there has been so little substantive difference between the parties for so long.

Even now the gap is far narrower than in previous decades. However at the very least there might be the possibility of electing a leader.

Even Maggie had the good sense to go once her cabinet collapsed and they deserted her. Brown doesn't seem to be willing to admit when he is on the verge of collapse.

It reminds me of Hitler in the last day's of WW2, when he was giving orders to divisions that either didn't exist or had been wiped out, but refused to believe he was facing defeat.

In other words, Brown has got a Megolomaniacal complex!
