Chavez accuses CIA of backing plot to kill him

news.yahoo.com

CARACAS, Venezuela – President Hugo Chavez on Tuesday alleged that U.S. intelligence agencies were behind a purported assassination plot that prevented him from visiting El Salvador. Chavez had planned to attend the inauguration of leftist President Mauricio Funes i n the Central American nation on Monday, but canceled his trip due to the alleged plot.

"I don't doubt that the intelligence organizations of the United States are behind this," Chavez said, accusing them of plotting with Cuban militant Luis Posada Carriles to murder him. He said Venezuelan intelligence services have "very precise information" that they were planning to launch rockets at the cubana de Aviacion plane he was going to travel in.

Uh-oh...

Now whether or not this turns out to be legit or not, I would certainly not be surprised if Chavez was a target from all of his fiery rhetoric directed at the U.S. gov and their leaders, not to mention his recent posturing on trying to steer other countries away from the dollar and into alternative currencies.

We know how that went for Saddam.

This could get interesting...

of course the CIA is trying to kill him. Thats part of their job. I'm sure they are working with factions of the government down there to do this. I'd actually be shocked if the CIA wasn't trying to assassinate/overthrow him.

Delusions of Grandeur. Chavez wants desperately to be considered important enough to be on the long list of heads of states that the CIA want murdered. What an idiot. If the CIA wanted him gone he would no longer be here, comprehende? The only reason he is still alive is because no one has deemed him important enough to get rid of him. Not yet anyway.

I doubt it. Obam and Hugo are tight. Obama would never give the OK on this one.

If Obama ever does sanction a hit and the world finds out, he would have to give a speech to Hispanics in a Latin American city explaining that the US is not at war with Hispanics.

Hugo Chavez and other Latin American leaders that have tried to move their countries out of the third world category, have always been jacked with by the C.I.A....... He has no illusions about anything, I am sure that he knows what he is talking about.

Do you ever notice how every tin pot dictator that hates the US thinks the CIA is out to get them.

Is he delusional. is he paranoid. does he really think the CIA is out to get him or just making it up to get symphony or more power.

Is the CIA really out to get him or just make life miserable for him till he becomes delusional and/or paranoid.

Now if I was CIA and wanted to get rid of him i would leak information that there was a number of plots to get him when there was not.

After he started to get delusional and/or paranoid i would leak that his closest people were the ones that the CIA hired to do him in.

He would then start putting his closest people in jail or use the wall. blindfold and firing squad.

After a short period of time his closest people that were left would become delusional and/or paranoid that they would be next and take him out themselves.

Problem solved without the CIA doing it.
And that would be how the CIA would really do it.
Neat clean and without violating any US laws against the CIA assassinating foreign leaders

Chavez' words...

"I'm not accusing Obama," he said. "I think Obama has good intentions, but beyond Obama there's an empire — the CIA and all its tentacles: Terrorists and paramilitaries."

Isn't it possible Venezuelan counter-intelligence sniffed this out?

If it is true that they found out that missles we're to be fired at Chavez' plane, then it fits the ole Modus Operandi of CIA-esque operations, imo.

People dying in crashes, black box data may or may not be recovered... easy to cover up. Good times!

So Chavez wants the CIA, and the entire U.S. to become Socialist faster so he can feel safe...

Has anyone seen the Aaron Russo interview about the Rockefeller conspiracy? In it, Aaron lists off what he was told was going to happen. That we were going to invade Afghanistan, Iraq, and go after Chavez. This article came up and I was reminded of the video since I just watched it a couple days ago.

Interview

It was at 0:58

Could be nothing but I found it neat.

In 2002 there was a coup attempt against Chavez's government. The Bush administration denied they were involved, but admitted to meeting with the planners of the coup several weeks before it happened.

They probably were involved. It would certainly be in line with the intelligence community's mafia-esque actions of the past 60 years.

Thank you milesp, I was about to post about this coup. Trying to take down governments who put up the USA interests is old tactics by the CIA in South America.
Hugo Chavez is not a dictator. Elections are free in Venezuela. He was elected to power. The international community including the USA recognized the fairness of every election in Venezuela since Chavez was first elected.
Please friends check the facts and resist the elite and MSM propaganda.

OF course most americans dont want to believe that their government could be involved in any destabilizing of other countries or other acts of war. Probably comes from the fact that americans have no clue of their history, of their involvements in such places as argentina, columbia, peru, venezuela, congo, greece, china, shoot, all over the world. We have installed i think 16 despots and dictators, assassinated 2 world leaders (admittedly, im sure more unofficialy) and suppressed many populist leftist revolutions around the world.

We were involved in the coup in venezuela, and have been pushing another, as well as the right wing take over of bolivia by the corporate wing of their society.....im pretty sure we are constantly investing money and time pushing venezuelans to oust chavez, .....and guns and training as well.

Yay sent the Jackals !!
but so far the CIA has failed badly in Venezuela, would be good riddence though..It will only get harder for the jackals to eliminate this guy, just as with Saddam, no way to infiltrate into his comfort zone...

And why should they eliminate him? It always amazes me how fast americans want to go kill anyone the news tells them they shouldnt like. Since when has it become a crime, punishable by murder, to have a different opinion on social practices and ideologies than the US?

Since when has it become an offense, punishable by death, to oppose corporations and their expansion in your country, and to try a different form of government than capitalism?

And WHY, WHY, WHY do americans think its ok to run out and kill over differences of opinion?! Has Hugo Chavez killed anyone? Has his country attacked anyone? Are there venezuelan terrorists here trying to bring down government buildings? If anything, THEY have more reason to hate and attack US, and they are justified!!

What is the general americans justifications for these ideas? Is it ok to kill them because they are corrupt? We have, i think, MUCH more corruption on a much more massive scale here. Our oil, pharmaceutical, and farming corporations are rife with it, as are our FDA, CIA, etc....so is it justifiable to hold forth about killing them as well? What a crock of brainwashing and double standards.
