thought this was funny......i wish there was video......i wanna see that worm squirm......

"Chinese assets are very safe," Geithner said in response to a question after a speech at Peking University, where he studied Chinese as a student in the 1980s.

His answer drew loud laughter from his student audience, reflecting scepticism in China about the wisdom of a developing country accumulating a vast stockpile of foreign reserves instead of spending the money to raise living standards at home.

reminded me of the lyrics from violet hill by cold play

"when the future's architectured by a carnival of idiots on show you better lie low"

better yet a carnival of deceptive official's that sadly our nation depends on.....also furher into the "violet hill"

"i don't want to be a soldier .......that the captian of some sinking ship would stowe far below"

yes alittle off topic...but i don't see how this ends well......and i think the gov't understand's this will not end well......and i don't think they would throw the the little people under the bus as things sink.......

our say/ influence compared to lobbyists and corporate lawyers (on politicans) is like comparing a fart to a hurricane gust.....unless we boycott hardcore....(and overcome the influence of the special intrests on policy)...the .gov't will take the path of least resistance.....i.e as our Consumer Economy ENDS ....this means as our economy is "re-arranged" they will take care of the privaliged class and say (as far as the falling standard of living for ordinary americans....."this was not expected".....this was a "unpredicable crisis"..a "great test of character for ordinary americans" ...." a slower road to recovery" .blah blah FU$KIN blah

Our country right now is in the hands of some of the greatest retards in the history of man.

The last time I saw a government run by retards of like stupidity was that of Hitler's group. Stupid men who could lie, deceive, pretend, and yet as dumb and as delusional as they come.

Folks, this will not end well.

Agreed.

This does not end well.

Contingency planning is the order of the day.

Geithner insists Chinese dollar assets are safe
US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner was laughed at by an audience of Chinese students after insisting that China's US assets are safe.

By Edmund Conway
Last Updated: 8:03PM BST 01 Jun 2009

In his first official visit to China since becoming Treasury Secretary, Mr Geithner told politicians and academics in Beijing that he still supports a strong US dollar, and insisted that the trillions of dollars of Chinese investments would not be unduly damaged by the economic crisis. Speaking at Peking University, Mr Geithner said: "Chinese assets are very safe."

The comment provoked loud laughter from the audience of students.
There are growing fears over the size and sustainability of the US budget deficit, which is set to rise to almost 13pc of GDP this year as the world's biggest economy fights off recession. The US is reliant on China to buy many of the government bonds it is planning to issue but Beijing's policymakers have expressed concern about the strength of the dollar and the value of their investments.

However Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan said that the two countries were working closely together to fight the economic crisis.

Does anybody remember Bagdad Bob? Geithner = Bagdad Bob. Instead of Iraq going down its the US dollar.

If a Chinese company offered to hire him for a joke, he'd probably have to reject the offer like Bagdad Bob did. Or it could go down like that Simpsons episode where Bart Simpson creates an industry around his "I didn't do it" motto. Make a few bucks off the slogan while its still funny. Its nice to know that there are people out there understand the US "strong dollar" policy really is a joke.

Truthquest, I actually liked Baghdad Bob.

And with our current administration, I can't believe that they couldn't find Baghdad Bob and make him the White House spokesman.

He would be a perfect fit.

Mass delusion is the order of the day for the White House, and it's liberal supporting Congress.

Why can't we have a city-destroying meteor when we need one?

Yea, well so who is the Admin going to run to to fund all of his idiotic polices?

The Chinese want to see the math. This will be interesting, seeing how it is plastered all of Reuters too this isn't a secret anymore. So the question is the retards that support the retards will they snap to their sense?

liars for sure your rulers are, but not so sure if those running your once-great nation are retarded or actually the sheeple still accepting these BS are the retarded ones....

my apologies if I have offended anyone, but what is going on in USA does concern many many many people outside your once-proud country, because you are still the sole untouchable superpower, who could horribly affect the world's future.....

wake up folks!

No offense taken when you say exactly what the truth is. You are 100% correct, Too many in this country don't have the slightest clue what our true history is or care. All they want is to think that all is equal and they can 'feel good' about their lives. Even when that good feeling messes up someone else's life!

liars of course........deception is the strongest political force.....imagine if they tought that in school.....i guess that doesn't fall under "need to know" lol....

in regards to your signature.....yes propoganda is pretty thick in american MSM....and regarding china......Noam chomsky ......said something to the effect that....Propaganda is to a democracy what the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state.” ......propoganda is used to encourage certain behaviors and opinons ....in a communist state they may use violence or the threat there of to scare people into submission........i'll take the propoganda.....cause i can see thru it.......when the economic pain reaches a certain thersholod i think the people will take the following chance......mass revolt.......the chance is that the revolt doesn't gain enough steam.....and a totalitarian type gov't is formed......but once the economic pain rises very high ......many rights will be gone soon either way

Usually Hitler comes up lil' bit later as threads on the topic in hand become more hot, I'm glad that you put it out of way this early

Anyways...

Demise of USA is inevitable.

Administrations come and go, and the only thing they can ever do is to be more or less effective in slowing down decaying process of our old rotten capitalistic system ...

The very system which we are hopelessly trying to sell to others by force is what is slowly eating up this country from inside out for decades.

As a country which contributed to the demise of many others in the world I say we probably deserve it, what goes around comes around

No, whats really eating this country from the inside out is a bunch of 1930's Socialist morons who think that the Marxist rendition of humanity that has failed everywhere it has ever been tried will work here. They can keep trying but eventually they are going to be lined up against the wall and dealt with, just like all the others that tried it!

Lol.

So, what you are saying here is what we have in US is the final stage of economical/political development one country can have, of for that matter humanity as a whole, the only thing which is keeping it lees perfect, even destroying it, are socialistic ideas ?

We're not broke, we're past broke.

Let the real estate market, manufacturing, and unemployment catch up.

You want to see a political/social ****storm?

If this union survives until another election in 2012, I'll be shocked.

We are in the toilet, and Obama just pushed the handle.

What a change.

Indeed the bulk of Chinese investment is in foreign treasuries and the vast majority of that is American bonds. I think we've already shown that China is not interested in maintaining the viability of the dollar any further. Indeed Chinese industry is hurting, but they are in the green and growing in other ways. Especially in the financial markets.

What is happening now is decidedly a realignment of the wealth in the world. The laughter is more likely due to the fact that American financial officials are either astute liars, or hopelessly ignorant, and all one can do is laugh at such a tragic comedy.
