Now believe me, I suppose I am going to be ridiculed for writing about this because I am usually the one ridiculing the folks writing about this topic.

I just like the next person, am getting a little tired of hearing about 2012 and it being dooms day and so on. But looking at the fact that it is only 3 years away, with everything happening in the world right now, you could say that things are kind of warming up for 2012.

Lets look at a few things, shall we? Lets...

1. N.Korea Saga - All of a sudden they are back in the media spot light. Threatening the world of a possible military attack. Testing firing missiles and underground Nukes.
And, of course, reestablishing there Nuclear Reactor.

Nostradamus has been well criticized over the times, but you have to look at what he has predicted for the years from 2009-2010. A lot of which relates to nuclear weaponry.

The use of atomic weapons

[V.8] There will be let loose living fire and hidden death, fearful inside dreadful globes. By night the city will be reduced to rubble by the fleet, the city on fire, helpful to the enemy

A very striking description of a nuclear missile and bomb attack from a fleet in the sea which reduces an unspecified city to rubbles within a night. The description of living fire and hidden death inside dreadful globes is quite an imaginative description of nuclear bombs.

He also predicts that a "First great war is near: as early as 2009 and likely no later than 2012."

2. Global Financial Meltdown - Lets face it, it's effecting a lot of people. Companies closing and going into Bankruptcy, Markets falling, and people being forced to leave their homes.

There are plenty more to refer to, so I will let the member take over. But before you ridicule me, PLEASE understand that I also, am one to usually think that the whole 2012 situation is rubbish. But really think about it, things are turning upside down, quickly.

Dude ! bad news -nothing is going to happen in 2012. you been watching too many Youtube video's.

All hysteria - sure we'll get a war or two, we've had a few in the last 10-15 years in the name of Terrorism. Thats not going to change, but that's got Jack to do with 2012.

NK have Nukes already -we've done nothing about then so we'll not do anything about it now.

Iran will get bombed by israel or risk getting Nuked by some suicide bomber in the next 5 years in the name a Alla.

Its just another day on the Calandar. .........

No, I am not saying anything is going to happen in 2012. What I am trying to do is relate the hype around 2012 and how things are boiling up in the media lately!

I think people can't help to feel as if something "big" or "horrible" is going to happen and possibly be some time soon, it's just the feeling in the air.
2012? I really don't know as so many people have made a mockery of it not just those who are for it, but those who overly bash it as well.
The thing is with the sudden rush of fear/concern in the end of the world of some major event happening came from was it first produced from popular media and culture or was it brought about a common interest from the people first?
Yes for all time people predicted the end of the world and major disaster but if you sit there and say there isn't a rise in this topic as of lately you must be blind.
But like I said before where did the interest get its sudden fuel from, us or them?

This special from ABC about the end of the world, and the fear they use to manipulate people in their add was a little over the top but interesting as it seems there's an agenda behind it.

abcnews.go.com...

Sometimes somethings are so blatantly throw in our face, that we can't help to make connections.
I think it would be more helpful to remember some of the info they give us about subject matter, certain dates and years and it could possibly be harmful to simply just write it off and ignore it.
If nothing comes of it , then oh well.
People just need to be assertive and self aware, not let the fear and panic take over, and remember to use reason and logic.

Hype is going to get bigger and bigger when it gets closer to that given date, its a fact. On the other key I believe we are co-creaters so if u get enough people believe something is going to happen, it will. Now is their more people going to think something bad or good going to happen?

Also if nothing does happened in 2012, their is going to be a couple nuts that are going to make something happen.

I agree, it's going to get much bigger.

And if nothing happens, the people who so strongly said they KNOW something is going to happen and have even tried to present facts and proof will simply just move along to something else, do their double talk to as if why nothing happened, and that will be it.

Look at oct 14th just as a recent reference and that was on a pretty small scale.
All they were left with is excuses and deepened ignorance.
You ask one of them anything, all you'll get it double talk.

Just wait for the movie 2012 and comes out it surely will increase the hype, also with smaller things like the sci fi channel airing movies on possible theories that are based around 2012 like "Polar Storm".
I feel bad for those who get annoyed by the topic on here because you're going to see more and more topics about it, and more people joining just to post topics about it.

When i was standing at the Roulette table with $1,000 riding on red, i was convinced that i was going to win. Especially after Black had just come up 6 times in row. My anticipation was so great, i could feel the win coming, i just Knew it was time to win. My stomach turned and as wheel spun, the world seemed alive it was time for something to happen. Its going to be red. ZERO shouted the Croupier.

Hype and hysteria will make you feel like something should happen. But that does not mean its going to happen.

Sure we will have wars and bad things going on in the world. But really there is nothing out with evidence to show that something will happen.

If 2012 is the end of all and I said "if", things will get bad before hand, a sort of storm that just keeps getting worse and worse. We could expect increasing earthquake and volcanic eruptions near populated areas. A increase in disease "like swine flu" or others outbreaks. More War, famine, weather issues, and death getting worse each month till 2012.

That is of course a what if scenario.

It is interesting all of the end of the world movies and shows on TV and theaters in the last decade, kinda like the movie Deep Impact, heh they even had a black president on that one.

Well 2012 is right around the corner, so time will tell soon enough, but really if it is going to be the end, we will know before it gets here.

To be honest, I can guarantee something will happen in 2012. Possibly something that is related to the current media, maybe even something scientific. IMO Something is bound to happen!

Ill add I do think the PTB know something and there not telling us. It would explain many things, the economy crashing worldwide, the increase in the value of gold, the western world move away from free and open republics towards more totalitarian society's. Supposed underground bunkers or cities, fema camps and coffins.

The writings of Nostradamus and Casey are very similar as well as the the bible. We need to remember the bible tells us to "Watch" because things will get really bad Before the Great Tribulation.

Perhaps there is a cosmic threat coming at us from the southern hemisphere. I could be wrong, but I assume most of the worlds telescopes are in the Northern hemisphere.

Really we don't need any threat from above, too many unstable people or cultures in the world now possess the bomb.

The belief that negative thoughts will bring about negative consequences.

I absolutely love, how some people choose to say, "Nothing is going to happen."
How do you know this?
Perhaps you could share your insight with the rest of the world.
The truth is, no one knows what is going to happen. We could be fine and dandy, enjoying our lives, and some moron decides that it's time for end game.

2012 or not, it could happen right now or 3 yrs from now, or never.
This does not mean that anyone should stop living their life.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of mother f***ers in this world, who want nothing more than to kill, hurt, and destroy, all that is life.
This is our common concern.
As human beings.
As a species though, we care for little else than ourselves and our personal well being. Granted, there are exceptions to that.
One day, we are going to have to rely on one another, like it or not.
F*** the media!!
All the media does is brainwash us with BS and sensationalism anyway.

Good luck, should the fires burn, fellow human beings.

there are several world wide events taking place at the moment, that could lead to a scenario in the near future that would be similar to 2012 predictions

however it is more likely that its just media struggling for ratings by hyping up another Y2K style event

a type of commercialism

Just wanted to reiterate this.
I feel it is that important!abcnews.go.com...

Experts have a stark warning: that unless we change course, the "perfect storm" of population growth, dwindling resources and climate change has the potential to converge in the next century with catastrophic results...."Until we have a crisis of some kind, I don't think we're going to be motivated to make the really deep changes in the way we use energy, the technologies we use, the density of our cities, our travel patterns," says Thomas Homer-Dixon, a political science professor

Pretty much explains it. 2012 being 'it' or not, seems we're screwed anyway.
Maybe thats the year we actually get (and can keep tax free)
an affordable clue!

Some people are too fixated on the idea that people who are claiming '2012' ideas are trying to prophecize exact dates, when actually, they need to be looking at the theories presented, and ponder what the likelyhood of these events happening are. Some of which, are quite high.

I think that something is going to happen and it is only because of one video that got me thinking about it more deeply.

www.youtube.com...

if nasa confirms it who are we to say nothing will happen. what proof have you got to say that nothin is going to happen its all mumbo jumbo.

by the way I don't think that the world is going to END but alot of people are going to die and that the world going to look like the video game fallout
.

Right now there's a very strong economic meltdown everywhere around the globe. "dodadoom" has a good point: that with or without 2012, we're srewed anyway. And the government does not want to increase the current hysteria caused by the eco-recession, loss of jobs, etc.

Many middle class people have lost their welfare, their own little "American Dream", thus they are quite neurotic at the moment, many are hoping for a quick, radical solution to end their suffering, to get back their former glory. Even now, some are willing to maintain their state of living with the help of loans, that is why this current financial system is still operational.

So my point is, that with this 2012 "stuff" people are looking for a quick, radical way to solve problems. Imagine! You can just solve everything with one theory! Easy to feed with the masses, who're always supporting simple, open-ended messages. (Obaaama--> Change anyone?)

But we shall see how 2012 turns out, my advice is simple: sharp eyes, research it a bit with the help of google, youtube, so you'll be prepared if 2012 turns out to be true. (like the y2k^^)

Part of the reason y2k only had a small effect world-wide is because the warnings were put in effect a couple of years ahead of time.

Y2k was a real, potential problem and there was a real fix.
The fix was implemented and in most cases stopped the potential problem.

I'm sure y2k was not mentioned in any known prophecy.
Nor was it included in the Mayan calendar.

The mess the planet is in right now does not have the potential to get a quick fix like y2k. It's way beyond a computer glitch.

Plus the fact that "you don't know-what you don't know"
