'X-Files' hum hits Cornwall

www.telegraph.co.uk

The irritating and unidentifiable sound, which has been reported in locations throughout the world, is driving residents in Mawnan to search for an explanation.

Now the parish council has been asked to launch an investigation to find the source.

The humming again, this seems to be becoming more frequent.
The village also lost their broadband connection recently for a few days.

There are lots of theories.

1. Secret underground bases or drilling
2. Earthquakes
3. Waves
4. Power lines and pipes

There have been lots of threads recently about this.
Are there any other hums in Cornwall?
Does anyone know the area?

I haven't heard of it (or heard it for that matter)!
I live in Cornwall, but could it be the military playing around again?
I know they ocasionaly do maneuvers where they block the SatNavs. And I think other communications.
Don't know if they did it recently, but maybe it has something to do with that.

This is happening all over.

Headaches
Flu like symptoms
Nausea
Loss of balance

Im still standing by the radiation sickness and not swine flu theory.

I have the high pitched ringing in ears and have been checked with all clear.

Very vivid dreams.

It all matches with that Neutron Star discovery I am convinced.

I don't know, that's why I said: "maybe it has something to do with it". I'm not really into it, but don't you block (radio) signals by transmitting stronger signals?
For example: transmitting a really strong signal (carrying the x-files theme tune) to block a certain frequency.
As we know, if the signal is strong enough, then people can hear it through their fillings, or from nails in the wall etc.

So I don't know precisely, but
a. the military blocks signals round here, so they definitely use the technology round here.
and
b. many people are hearing the same thing.
So I just added 1 and 2 together and possibly came up with 3.1415926

Samuel
EDIT to ADD: and Broadband connection => cable. Can it also be blocked via interference?

Ever since the TV show "Fringe" came out, it seems many members and possibly media outlets are creating similar topics. I just find it funny.

There is a possibility that this is caused by the Cornwall Wind farm

www.bbc.co.uk...

What a lot of people don't know about this "source of energy" can cause

maybe not x files but scary too!

I'm confused by your post.
What has a TV series I have never heard of, have to do with an article in a respected national newspaper?

I have had all those symptoms for a few weeks and felt very ill; I thought it was "Man Flu".

Why do you think a star is causing this?

Do you have any links to the new star discovery?

I was looking a Google maps and saw RAF St Mawgan only a few miles away. There they have

Joint Maritime Facility

Perhaps it's that they are hearing?

I had a look online, but cannot find any wind farms near there village.

But I think it is worrying source of energy with hidden pollution.

Most "HUMS" have been speculated to come from "DUMBS" (Deep Underground Military Bunkers", like the one reportedly in Dulce, New Mexico. It could be electric though...

That was quite interesting especially

At times, this remarkable object has erupted with more than a hundred flares in as little as 20 minutes," said Loredana Vetere, who is coordinating the Swift observations at Pennsylvania State University. "The most intense flares emitted more total energy than the sun does in 20 years."

Lol the X-Files beat Fringe by a long shot for the story.
If it's an aural hum then I highly doubt its a megawatt longwave transmitter. Even though the X-Files had a great show on how a military longwave transmitter was making peoples inner ear explode the reality is that radio!=audio.
The only way a radio transmittion could make such a hum is by causing objects near resonance to vibrate at such low frequencies, but the general rule of thumb is if you can hear it it's way too low of a frequency to be wireless.
Maybe it's something geological we don't yet understand or know about?
Another guess is maybe a high powered electromagnet. Now I know this probably will remind people of the show LOST hehe but it's possible. If a large enough electromagnet were put into operation using AC it could make near by metalic objects vibrate or hum. It would have to be a hell of a large electromagnet though since magnetic energy depletes fast over a short range using the inverse square law of electromagnetic radiation.
Just my thoughts.

BTW if it happens to be magnetic in nature why not get out the EMF meters and go on a hunt?

Will the Chinese come up through the ground like in Bugs Bunny?

if not, can we go though to get some really authentic Asian food?

kiddin', I am curious to hear the explaination of the 'humming' going on in different places. Tunnelling sounds plausible though.

ooo I wonder if it could be underground drilling?

naaaah

yeah keep scratching your heads and nit picking over "plausible" scenarios, surface-dwellers.
