Malcolm Turnbull rejects Guantanamo Bay request

Mr Turnbull said the Australian government should not take in inmates from Guantanamo Bay if they were not Australian citizens.

"We should not be accepting any other Guantanamo inmates. That's been our view consistently," he said.

The Opposition Leader said detainees released from Guantanamo Bay had gone on to re-establish links with al Qaeda.

"That's incontrovertible fact, so there's always a risk."

Trust the Liberals to continue with the Al-CIAda propaganda. The six men have been cleared by the 'US', after being held for six years in Gitmo. Such compassion shown, to rob them of six years of their lives to finally declare that they are not 'enemy combatants'.

So, the USA won't/can't settle them and wants Australia to clean up the mess. I get so pissed off with authority figures who think that they jerk our strings.

The war on terra continues to claim more lives - not necessarily deaths, but stripping the dignity from the lives of these detainees.
